Top 10 Easiest Bosses in the Souls Series
Prepare to live. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top ten easiest bosses in the “Souls” series.
For this list, we’ll be looking at the bosses throughout the “Souls” series of video games which are generally considered to be the easiest to defeat. We’ll be considering all the “Souls” games for this list, including “Demon’s Souls” and “Bloodborne.”
“Dark Souls” (2011)
You have two options when facing the Asylum Demon: confront him head-on during your first encounter, or run away with your tail between your legs and return later when you’ve powered up. It’s a pretty easy boss fight by Dark Souls standards, but if you take the second option, the Asylum Demon is an absolute cakewalk. Granted, it’s meant to be your introduction to the bosses of the game. If you use the plunge attack on it, a large chunk of its health will immediately be taken off, making the rest of the fight significantly easier. The Asylum Demon is also incredibly slow, so simply circling around it and slashing away is no problem at all.
“Dark Souls II” (2014)
The Guardian Dragon is a red wyvern found in Aldia’s Keep, and we have to say, we were expecting a lot more from a fight with a freaking dragon. His attacks are strong, but he’s also slow, which allows you to easily dodge or block his advances throughout the fight. Hugging his legs is also a fantastic strategy, and he is extremely weak against Dark Hail due to his enormous size. If that wasn’t easy enough, he can also be defeated before the fight even begins by firing off a few powerful spells before he has a chance to get off his butt. What a lazy guardian.
“Dark Souls III” (2016)
The Crystal Sage certainly looks like a menacing foe: it’s basically a ghost witch thing, it shoots crystals, and it can create clones of itself. That said, it’s simple, especially if you’re an aggressive player. It mainly attacks with magic, and while these can hurt like a bitch, they’re also painfully slow, telegraphed, and easy to avoid. If you simply dodge its incoming spells, get in real comfy, and slash it to hell with a powerful weapon, the Sage goes down easy enough. While the cloning aspect can get tiresome, these are easily defeated as well, so really, there should be no problems with this fight.
“Dark Souls II” (2014)
Let’s admit it: rats are a pretty cliché enemy, so fighting the Royal Rat Vanguard isn’t exactly enticing. To top it off, it’s painfully simple, making this one of the weakest boss fights of the entire series. Keeping an eye on the Vanguard is simple once you know how to spot it, and it doesn’t have a ton of damage resistance, so it goes down extremely easy if you have a powerful weapon. Another way to tackle the battle is to use Soul Appease, which one-shot kills the rats. The battle will be over before it even began.
“Dark Souls” (2011)
Pinwheel is harder to look at than it is to fight. Pinwheel has a reputation within the “Souls” community for being stupid-easy, especially if you fight him later in the game when you’ve leveled up. Really, all you have to do is charge him before he can make clones of himself and smack him a couple times (literally) with your sword. That’s about it. That said, despite how easy he is to take down later, he can actually be fought early in the game, when you are far weaker, making him a much more formidable foe. But, even then, he’s still a cinch by Souls series standards.
“Dark Souls II” (2014)
The sheer numbers of the Prowling Magus and Congregation can seem intimidating, no doubt. However, each individual enemy is incredibly weak, and the entire battle can be effortlessly finished with a wide-ranged weapon or a powerful spell. Of course, it can be difficult if you rush in and try to take them all on at once, but simply circling the room, taking your time, and picking them off one by one is a sure way to make quick work of them. Even better, just use Profound Still and slice through them like you’re John Wick with a sword.
“Dark Souls III” (2016)
The Deacons of the Deep are located within the Cathedral of the Deep (imagine that) and serve to defend a coffin from intruders. While they may look and sound intimidating, that is far from the truth. Aside from the Deep Soul move, which may prove troublesome, these guys are a cinch. Following the deacon which is glowing red is simple, and they deal little damage, allowing you to simply barge in like an action star and swipe away, especially when using the Hollowslayer Greatsword. Just avoid that dark orb and you’re golden.
“Bloodborne” (2015)
The Witch of Hemwick is absolutely disgusting: she’s a withered, wrinkly old lady thing, and she collects eyeballs which she pastes onto her robe. Too bad her prowess doesn’t match her appearance. The Witch is an incredibly easy boss and arguably “Bloodborne’s” simplest. Finding the invisible Witch is not an issue, as she emits a bright red glow. You can also easily avoid the Stalkers and simply focus on the unmoving Witch. On top of that, she is stunningly easy to backstab and visceral attack, which deals extremely high amounts of damage. She’s a withered old lady, and she fights like one, too.
“Dark Souls II” (2014)
It’s a towering giant wielding an enormous sword. How can he be so easy!? Serving as the king of all Giants, the Giant Lord is an intimidating-looking foe, but incredibly easy once you get the hang of him. Staying between his legs and hacking away at his ankles makes for a good strategy, especially since you can avoid most of his attacks by staying there. That said, there’s an even easier way: stand on the platform to his left and spam him with magic until he drops. His attacks can be devastating, but if you take care in avoiding them, the Giant Lord goes down easy.
“Dark Souls II” (2014)
We have to say, the Covetous Demon doesn’t even look all that intimidating. While appearances can be deceiving, they’re certainly not in this case: he really does move and act like an obese worm. This Jabba the Hutt-looking monstrosity’s attacks are incredibly slow and telegraphed, which makes avoiding them all too easy. Actually, we hesitate to even call them attacks. They’re more like lazy flops and rolls. As long as you manage to avoid him and stay off to the side while hacking away, the Covetous Demon is a walk in the park.
