Top 10 Video Game Cutscenes That Almost Made Us Puke Oh god…someone fetch a barf bag. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we are counting down our picks for the top ten video game cutscenes that almost made us puke. For this list, we’ll be looking at in-game cinematics that were so disturbing, violent or just plain grotesque that they left us feeling physically ill. Be on the lookout for spoilers, and if it wasn’t obvious enough, be aware of mature content down the line.

#10: Stroggification “Quake 4” (2005)

In order to defeat the alien scourge known as the Strogg, Marine Corporal Matthew Kane is willing to make any and all sacrifices for the good of the mission. That being said, getting himself captured and being forced to undergo a horrific process like Stroggification might be a bit beyond his paygrade. Strapped to a conveyor belt, Kane, and therefore, we are forced to watch his body get torn apart and replaced with cyborg components as he is slowly turned into a Strogg. We dare you to try not to wince as he gets his legs sawn off!

#9: Uxoricide “Phantasmagoria” (1995)

Zoltan Carnovasch was not a good husband, mainly due to the fact he murdered all five of his wives in some rather disgusting ways. Lucky for us, we get to see all the gory details, in live action no less! Through flashbacks, we see that while under the possession of a demon, Zoltan did away with his beloveds in a variety of gruesome ways: suffocation, impalement with a wine bottle, trapped in a torture device, beheaded and forcibly fed animal entrails. Even years on, seeing these play out up close and personal will still make you gag.

#8: Eddie Gluskin “Outlast: Whistleblower” (2014)

Mount Massive Asylum is home to a whole host of crazed killers, tortured souls and even a sci-fi ghost, but none compare to Mr Gluskin when it comes to pure sadism. Obsessed with having a wife and starting a family, Gluskin has taken countless inmates, mutilated them and tried to…uh…inseminate them. Waylon Park finds himself on the receiving end of Gluskin’s “love” when he nearly gets his junk cut off via a buzz saw, only to escape just in the nick of time. Others were not so lucky.

#7: Supper Time “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” (2017)

Say hello to the Bakers. While trying to search for his missing wife, Ethan finds himself captured by what has to be gaming’s scariest family. Turned into insane killing machines by a living bio-weapon, we get our first taste of the madness to come when Ethan awakens at the dinner table to find the Bakers enjoying a “feast.” From there, it doesn’t take Jack, Marguerite and Lucas long to reveal their violent tendencies. We’re just glad we didn’t have to sit around to see what dessert looked like.

#6: The Lizard Trial “Heavy Rain” (2010) For the sake of his son, Ethan Mars throws himself into constant danger, just for the chance of rescuing him from the enigmatic Origami Killer. The ordeal everyone remembers most would be the Trial of the Lizard, where the killer demands that Ethan cut off his own finger within the allotted time. As expected, the tension shifts into overdrive, as players must choose the instrument to do the deed, and then actually go through with it. Whether you choose scissors, a saw, a knife, a hatchet or even a set of pliers, we hope you aren’t squeamish.

#5: The Bomb “Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes” (2014) While this prelude to The Phantom Pain certainly isn’t the franchise’s greatest outing, it does have an iconic scene that left gamers reeling. After freeing the traitorous Paz, it’s revealed that she has a bomb inside of her that’s set to go off any minute. With no time for anaesthetic, Snake has to hold her down while the medic reaches into her intestines and starts rummaging around. All while Paz is still very much conscious. We know she betrayed Big Boss in the last game and all, but no one deserves to go through that.

#4: Fatalities “Mortal Kombat X” (2016)

Top 20 Mortal Kombat Fatalities

It’s a time-honoured tradition that each new Mortal Kombat game one-ups the previous entry’s level of gore and creativity. We can easily say that MKX reached the pinnacle, because this batch of fatalities is absolutely ridiculous – and, yes, we do mean that in a good way. These fight-finishing barrages of sensory-overload ultra violence range from the hilarious and playful to the downright stomach churning, with levels of brutality and gore that would make . Never change, Mortal Kombat, never change.

#3: Needle to the Eye “Dead Space 2” (2011)

Getting rid of the Marker’s influence was never going to be easy, but did it really have to involve getting stabbed in the eye? Guided by visions of his dead girlfriend, Isaac Clarke must enter the enigmatic machine and go through the rather nail-biting procedure of having a needle slowly work its way down to his eye. The catch? The player must control the movement of the machine, with any slip-ups resulting in a rather gruesome death scene. And by gruesome we mean Isaac getting impaled through the eye socket.

#2: The Death of Helios “God of War 3” (2010)

Kratos is a master of his craft, and his craft happens to be slaughtering everything that lives on Mount Olympus. While he’s expertly used his various weapons to slice, pummel, electrocute and decapitate all manner of mythical beasts, his magnum opus has to be what he did to Helios, the sun god. After overcoming his blinding light, Kratos was all too happy to demonstrate how he wasn’t above getting down and dirty…by ripping Helios’ head off with his bare hands. How’s that for divine punishment?

#1: The Children “Harvester” (1996)

10 Fan Made Horror Games That Will Keep You up at Night

“Harvester” gained a cult following for its bloody content, twisted narrative and use of live action, so you can bet we had plenty of grizzly moments to choose from. As our amnesia stricken protagonist wanders around the increasingly warped town of Harvest, he ends up encountering some pretty messed up sights, including that of a mother who is getting her legs eaten by her children. Do we get to see it up close? You bet we do, in all its unnerving glory. The only thing more off-putting than seeing kids take chunks out of their mother is seeing how nonchalant she is about the whole thing.
