#10: Shin vs. Schtrom

“Wise Man’s Grandchild” (2019) Who do you call when a crazed ex-magic teacher goes on a rampage? The reincarnate teenager with unparalleled magical talent. Duh. After being found out as the mastermind behind the Demonoid resurgence, Schtrom’s luck runs out when he tangos with the adopted grandchild of Merlin. Seriously, do we even need a supporting cast? By himself Shin not only managed to slice through all of Schtrom’s spells, but also unleashed a magical burst of such intensity that it left everything scorched. How the red-eyed snake escaped that we’re still not sure.

#9: Kazuma’s Squad vs. Hans

“KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World!” (2016-17) They may be the most misguided and dysfunctional band of adventures to ever take on a fantasy world, but they sure as hell know how to bring down a giant monster in spectacular fashion. Taking on the likes of the Devil King’s giant poisonous slime, our four losers managed to pull out a win for the history books, all by combining their rather…unique talents. Darkness with her typical brand of masochism. Kazuma with his handy talent for coming back from the dead. Aqua with her faith-powered punch. And of course, Megumin, who succeeded in her goal of unleashing the biggest explosion ever. That’s one way to power through a D&D campaign.

#8: Diablo vs. Force Hydra

“How Not to Summon a Demon Lord” (2018) Goes to show that when you come between an Isekai protagonist and one of his future baby mamas, you’re liable to end up liquidated. Quite literally in the case of this summon. In a bid to take his precious, busty elf back from her fellow elves, Diablo faces off against the four-headed elemental calamity. While it might look like final boss material, the Demon Lord manages to overcome his titanic foe by implementing that age-old ploy; when facing off against a giant monster, just hit with an even bigger spell. And we’ll be damned if it didn’t work.

#7: Ryner vs. Magic Knights

“The Legend of the Legendary Heroes” (2010) Word to the wise, if you know your target just so happens to have a magical McGuffin that gives them access to unbridled power, do not go out of your way to taunt him by showing him the dead bodies of his fellow colleagues. Otherwise you might end up triggering said McGuffin and get your insides torn through your outsides. Unsurprisingly, this is exactly what happens to this group of knights, who end up getting an up close and personal demonstration of the Alpha Stigma. Fuelled by a newfound lust for destruction, it doesn’t take Ryner long to turn the murderous thugs into stains.

#6: Tatsuya vs. Masaki

“The Irregular at Magic High School” (2014) Why is everyone shocked that a competition between multiple magic schools would result in a near fatality? Especially when it has both teams using guns. Oh sure they might not fire bullets, but when a single blast can result in a student getting half his insides crushed, one has to wonder what kind of committee is running these things! Thankfully, a little internal haemorrhaging is nothing for our boy Tatsuya, whose own talents far surpass practically everyone else. Not only does he manage to recover from a blast that would kill most mages, but also pulls off a win for the home team with a literal click of his fingers. Maybe this is where Thanos got his inspiration.

#5: The Four Cardinal Heroes vs. The Pope

Top 10 Pathetic Anime Rivals (ft. Todd Haberkorn)

“The Rising of the Shield Hero” (2019) Considering the amount of bad blood between these four, mostly due to the Spear, Bow and Sword Heroes’ complete ineptitude, it was going to take something pretty hefty to convince Naofumi to work with them. Thankfully, a crazed religious leader with a weapon of mass destruction has a way of bringing people together. While his false holy weapon provided quite a challenge, the geezer’s blind faith proved to be no match for the combined might of the four heroes of legend. Scratch that, he proved to be no match for Shield Bro and his sworn companions. The other three just kind of brought up the rear. As usual.

#4: Ainz vs. Shalltear

“Overlord” (2015-18) Say what you will about Bone Daddy’s dubious methods when it come to world domination, at least he gives out great insurance plans for his underlings. Take the Lolita-clad vampire over here. After she was brainwashed into trying to smash his cranium, Lord Ainz could have easily sent another of the Floor Guardians to end her for her betrayal. Instead, he chose to snap her out of it himself, by means of a battle that contains more spells than most RPGs out there. While Shalltear’s spruced up abilities were nothing to scoff at, she was woefully unprepared for her master’s tactics, extensive skill list, and of course, microtransactions.

#3: Aladdin vs. Titus

“Magi: The Kingdom of Magic” (2013-14) He may not be Prince Ali, but when it comes to wielding magic, no Djinn out there can compare to this little dungeon crawler. In order to prove himself worthy for advanced magical studies, Aladdin finds himself taking on the fabulous yet deadly Titus in the most exotic of magical battles. It’s a true clash of the elements, with Titus dishing out no end of spell combos, and Aladdin evening out the playing field thanks to a wider variety of skills, resulting in one hell of a draw. Too bad Titus had to go and ruin the whole thing by trying to assassinate him Aladdin right after. Have some dignity dude.

#2: Natsu vs. Sting and Rogue

Top 10 Fairy Tail Fights (Ft. Todd Haberkorn - Voice of Natsu!)

“Fairy Tail” (2009-) Hope you folks are fired up because its about to go down at the Grand Magic Games! Faced with the combined mind of Sabertooth’s twin dragonslayers, it falls to Fairy Tail’s resident Salamander to win the day. You know, cause he gave Gajeel the boot and all? But we’re not here to talk that hunk of iron! We’re here to talk about Natsu! And how he turned up the heat against Sting and Rogue to the point where not even their Unison Raid could hold a candle to his explosive flames! Better luck next time boys. Try again in another seven years!

#1: Yuno vs. Rill

“Black Clover” (2017-) Hate to say it Asta, but it looks like your rival might have surpassed you. After besting multiple other Magic Knights, Yuno finally got the chance to take on an opponent way above his paygrade. While he may be young and a tad on the frizzy side, Rill’s status as a Magic Captain was all but confirmed when he displayed just how deadly his living artwork could really be. Luckily, Yuno had one hell of an ace in the hole. By fusing with his adorable wind spirit, the Wizard King hopeful powered himself up to the point where not even Rill’s paintings managed to match his magic.
