#10: Chainsaw Man Rises
Dealt one unlucky hand after another, Denji’s entire life was filled with debt and poverty, one he wasn’t even given the opportunity to crawl out of when he was sacrificed to the Zombie Devil by his scumbag employers. Instead of perishing, his pet demon dog Pochita gives him the chance to live on…by merging their bodies together and creating a one-man death machine. Turns out the undead are pretty useless when up against a guy with chainsaw blades sprouting out of him!
#9: Seduction
Denji’s goal is unlike any other shonen protagonist’s we’ve seen before. That may be why he’s so easy to manipulate though. In this now viral moment, Denji gets part of his wish by getting up close and personal with the ever-alluring Makima. Studio Mappa really went out of their way to make this scene as seductive as possible - and it’s no wonder Makima’s got Denji wrapped around her finger.
#8: Chainsaw vs. Bat
Once Denji set’s his sight on something, there’s nothing that can stop. Case and point, bringing down the colossal Bat Devil so he can free Power from its belly. Sure, it’s for the express purpose of being able touch her chest, but that’s beside the point. The ensuing battle is chaotic and demonstrates just how lethal Chainsaw Man can be when unleashed. For all it’s staggering size, the Bat is rendered helpless when Denji gets into his groove and gets to chopping. Anything to cop a feel, right?
#7: Kishibe’s Training
Even Fiends need to hone their skills if they’re going to tango with the Gun Devil. Introduced as Denji and Power’s new mentor, Kishibe at first appears like another alcoholic Public Safety officer…until he easily breaks their necks with a hug. Turns out Kishibe is a monster all his own, and plans to beat strength into his new pupils, no matter how many times he has to kill them. While his methods ultimately prove effective, the hunter’s teachings are certainly painful to behold.
#6: Himeno Gives Up the Ghost
After a surprise assault by Samurai Sword, Himeno decides to give everything in order to save Aki from an early grave. Surrendering each part of her body to the Ghost Devil, for a moment it looks like her sacrifice might be worth it. At least until a giant snake foils her efforts, snatching both her life and final good deed away just like. For many of us who thought the one-eyed belle would be sticking around to the end, this was a bitter pill to swallow.
#5: Makima’s Power
And now we all know why Makima is so feared. After miraculously surviving being gunned down, she orchestrates a brutal counterattack that demonstrates she is more than just a pretty face with an unnerving smile. After getting her hands on some death row convict, she systematically kills each of them – and as a result somehow turns Denji’s kidnappers into meat paste. It’s a deeply unsettling power than no-one can grasp, but it certainly paints Makima in a more ominous light!
#4: A Drunken Kiss

Poor Denji. Even when he’s winning, he still loses. Following through on her promise to French kiss him after taking down the eternity devil, Himeno goes all in and gives Denji what looks like the best first kiss of all time. At least initially. What starts out as a saucy exchange soon ends up as a living nightmare for Denji when Himeno…upchucks mid-smooch.
#3: Kobeni Goes God Mode
When this jittery junior member of Public Safety appeared, many of us had the same initial reaction – this girl is in way over her head, send her home before she stabs someone…again! And then she completely flipped the script. Turns out she didn’t only survive the attack by the Gun Devil’s henchmen, but also shows up to save Denji from being snatched away by Samurai Sword and his cronies. Which she accomplishes by putting down everyone in her way with lethal precision.
#2: Chainsaw vs. Eternity
Sometimes the deadliest devils aren’t the ones with the most teeth, but the most patient. Turning a hotel into its personal prison, Denji and the others are left trapped inside and left to starve and succumb to madness. That is, until Denji decides to shred the ever-loving shit out of the creature’s heart. Turns out that suspending time works against you when it means having to endure getting hacked to pieces by a living chainsaw with a sadistic streak! Even eternity has a pain threshold!
#1: Chainsaw vs. Katana
It’s the rematch that pitted two demonic-weapon-hybrids against each other to see who really is the sharpest tool in the shed. While not exactly the longest fight, it is full of flash, with Chainsaw Man and Samurai Sword duking it out on top and inside of a train just like a classic superhero flick. After Denji’s surprise victory, Katana Man gets his punishment in the most agonizing of fashions - a good old fashioned beatdown.
