Top 10 Anime Rampages

Sometimes anger gets the best of us. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we are counting down our picks for the top 10 Anime Rampages. For this list, we’ve chosen the moments when an anime character has gone berserk and, for right or wrong, went on ahead and beat up a whole load’a people. As long as there’s widespread destruction or a mountain of bodies by the end of it, it’s a contender! Also be on the lookout for some major spoilers!

#10: Delete, Delete, Delete

“Death Note” (2006-07) When you gain status of an omnipotent dealer of death, you’re bound to find yourself with a few twisted followers. Light Yagami, the villain behind the ominous Kira name, finds such a follower in the morally repressed Mikami, who he uses to continue his work and divert the attention of the authorities. He makes one hell of an introduction, killing off fanatical but useless supporters, all the while demonstrating some mad penmanship skills. With his burning passion for justice, Mikami proves himself to be a worthy servant of Kira in both ideals and methodology. This devout retainer of the New God proves that truly the pen is mightier than the sword.

#9: Gohan vs. Cell Jrs

Also in:

Every Gohan Fight Ranked In Dragon Ball

“Dragon Ball Z” (1989-96) By this point in the series, two things had been established. Cell was an unstoppable monster, and Super Sayains weren’t the same as they used to be. Being the perfect being he is, the monster decides that he doesn’t even need to dirty his own hands to kill his enemies. Instead, he creates miniature clones of himself, each of which incapacitates Goku and friends with ease. However, the tables quickly turn after Gohan releases his rage, transforming into a Super Sayain 2. Going from meek child to merciless destroyer, he dispatches each Cell Jr easily. Whether it’s with his fists or making them explode, Gohan is quick to show he’s not to going to take Cell’s crap anymore.

#8: Hunting Neo-Nazis

“Black Lagoon” (2006) The Lagoon Company is used to dealing with all manner of unpleasant characters. They do live on an island made up of assassins, pimps and mobsters after all. Nazis on the other hand is a different ball game entirely. After these remnants of the Third Reich steal a painting that the Lagoon crew had procured, they decide to get it back the only way they know how; let Revy do what she does best. After infiltrating their boat, she single handily guns down every Nazi she comes across with a bloody but somehow comical barrage of bullets.

#7: Alucard Unleashed

Also in:

Anime Duel: Alucard vs Dio Brando

“Hellsing Ultimate” (2006-12) He may be the series protagonist, but not a moment goes by where we can forget that he’s a merciless, bloodthirsty beast. Nowhere is this better exemplified than his time in Rio. When Millennium turns the Brazilian authorities on him, he coerces his master, Integra Hellsing, into allowing him to let loose. When the order is given, the gloves come off and his sadistic love of violence is shown in all its grim glory. Tearing out necks and riddling them with bullets, Alucard leaves a river of blood in his wake as he kills his way through Rio. Now that’s a holiday to remember.

#6: Escape

“Elfen Lied” (2004) Our introduction to the character of Lucy pretty much sets the tone for the entire series. Remorseless and bloodsoaked. Since we had yet to see the horrors she had faced in her life, mostly revolving around the prejudice and cruelty of mankind, we couldn’t understand her murderous intentions - But we were sure as hell shocked by them. Managing to escape from the facility holding her captive, Lucy demonstrates her power as a diclonius by tearing both the scientists and security to pieces. Bodies are sliced, organs are pulled out, it’s a gruesome collage that we would later come to realise was nothing more than a rebuttal for humanity’s villainous nature.

#5: Saving Griffith

“Berserk” (1997-98) Here’s what you need to know about Guts. He’s been in warzones since he was a child. He wields a sword the size of a surfboard. He slaughtered a hundred soldiers all by himself in one night. So, in short, he is very good at killing. Out of all his memorable killing sprees, the one rampage that stands out most is when he re-joins the Band of the Hawk to find his former comrade Griffith. As it turns out, Griffith had spent a year being tortured, reduced to a crippled state. After seeing his friend in such a state, Guts breaks him out and proceeds to cut through every guard he comes across in the most violent way possible.

#4: Spike Storms The Syndicate

Also in:

Anime Duel: Spike Spiegel Vs Vash The Stampede

“Cowboy Bebop” (1998-99) We all knew Spike Speigal was the coolest cat in the whole galaxy, and thanks to Vicious we knew just how deadly the Red Dragon Syndicate were. After losing the woman he loved, Spike decides to rush into the dragon’s den by himself. What follows is the one of the most iconic and goose bump-inspiring scenes in anime history. With nothing but bullets, grenades, and his typical badass skills, Spike kills his way to the top to confront his mortal enemy. Artistic as it is violent, the rampage comes to a bittersweet end as the bounty hunter is thrust through a stain-glass window.

#3: Eren’s First Rampage

Also in:

Anime Duel: Guts vs Eren Yeager

“Attack on Titan” (2013-) Ah, you never forget your first. In Eren Jaeger’s case, it’s the time he transformed into the one thing he despised, a Titan. He then proceeded to punch, kick and curb stomp any other Titan he came across.. Since the very beginning of the series, humanity is shown to be fighting a losing battle against the seemingly endless, man-eating horde of Titans, but with Eren’s newfound power and the beat-down that came with it, a small glimmer of hope was introduced. Let’s just hope he can learn to keep his anger in check.

#2: Marcos, Roach Exterminator

“Terra Formars” (2014-) Everyone hates cockroaches, but when they turn into giant humanoids that can quite easily squash humanity, that’s just adding fuel onto the fire. Luckily for us, a group of genetically augmented humans arrive on their new home turf of Mars to dish out some much-deserved revenge. One member of the group, Marcos, has more reason than most. After watching his childhood friend die by the hands of one of the roaches, he channels his rage as well as the augmented huntsmen-spider abilities straight out of the gate. Only using his melee combat, we get to see insect heads roll in a gruesome but glorious display of vengeance.

#1: Asuka’s Bloody Symphony

“The End of Evangelion” (1997) The rather controversial ending to Neon Genesis Evangelion prompted this reimagining of the final two episodes, which takes on a far bloodier form. After SEELE and Gendo’s interests clash, several soldiers and Mass Production EVAs are launched to kill everyone inside the NERV Facility. After coming to her senses…or lack there of, Asuka activates her own Unit and proceeds to decimate the invading forces. Of course, things did not quite go as planned, but Asuka’s white-hot rage performed pretty-darn brilliantly against this swarm of enemies. Who knew she had it in her? Do you agree with our list?
