Top 10 Call of Duty: Black Ops Missions Alfa. Bravo. Charlie. Delta. Echo. Do you read me? Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Call of Duty: Black Ops Missions. For this list, we’re looking at the best campaign missions from the first three Black Ops games in honor of the fact that the fourth game in the series won’t feature a campaign at all.

#10: “Redemption”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010) The final mission from the first Black Ops game sees the CIA intercepting a Soviet commercial ship in the Gulf of Mexico in 1968. Only hours away from the scheduled deployment of biochemical weapon “Nova 6” on American soil, Jason Hudson leads a helicopter attack on the ship’s defenses and joins Alex Mason in stopping the weapon’s launch. It’s a mission filled with helicopter explosions, close-ranged gunplay, and even underwater fighting, and it all ends in the most Hollywood-esque way possible: the hero saves the day and is greeted with an epic rock tune and fighter jets flying high overhead. Hell ya!

#9: “Hypocenter”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops III” (2015) The fifth mission from the third game sees Black Ops members tasked with investigating an abandoned facility in Singapore in 2064 in an attempt to stop a rogue agent from exposing CIA secrets. Starting in the jungle, we control the main protagonist as he snipes and blasts his way into the old facility, facing off against enemy soldiers and walking tanks along the way. Once inside, the real fun begins as we use high-tech gadgets to navigate our way to the dastardly agent while battling against a mysterious batch of enemy robots. Yup, enemy robots! Hey, why not? It’s 2064 – let’s have some fun!

#8: “Life”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops III” (2015) A real “mind-bender” of a level that has more twists and turns than a season of Westworld, “Life” takes place in Switzerland as the protagonist teams with the Zurich Special Forces to infiltrate the headquarters of a global defense corporation to stop the spread of a deadly virus that would affect both man and machine. In the midst of a war zone between the Zurich forces and deadly robots, the player battles their way through enough dark secrets and startling revelations to have left us dumbfounded and searching Reddit for the answers to exactly what the hell just happened!

#7: “Rebirth”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010) The thirteenth mission in the original Black Ops – sandwiched between “Payback” and “Revelations” – sees the CIA searching for an ex-Nazi scientist on the Russian island of “Rebirth.” After eliminating the scientist, the mission jumps to a flashback from 20 minutes earlier when the CIA’s assault on the tiny island began and we witness the ex-Nazi’s execution from a different vantage point. “Rebirth” is a cleaver mission that plays with both time and space in a way that serves to highlight the severe implications of the stage’s final moments late in the game.

#6: “Time and Fate”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops II” (2012) This mission takes place in Nicaragua in 1986 and tasks Alex Mason and company with infiltrating the mansion of a cartel leader named Raul Menendez, showing events that help explain Menendez’s future actions in 2025. The fourth mission of the second game, “Time and Fate” has a nice twist in letting the player control Menendez for part of the stage, as he tries to survive incoming attacks from not only the CIA but also Panamanian soldiers as well. Near infinite health, infinite ammo and increased speed are just a few of the perks while manning the pissed-off cartel leader, which makes this mission a blast to play!

#5: “WMD”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010) As you’ve probably guessed from the title, “WMD” has players tracking down a weapon of mass destruction to prevent an attack on US soil. The mission’s opening moments focus on two members of the US Air Force taking off from a California base on route to Russia to help assist a CIA team in their efforts to enter the facility housing the WMD. Players control a member of the Air Force and a member of the CIA team, switching back and forth between Major Neitsch surveying the scene through his fighter jet’s thermal screen and Jason Hudson attempting to enter to the facility on the ground, which feels like something right out of a movie.

#4: “Karma”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops II” (2012) The sixth mission of the second Black Ops game sees members of a Joint Special Operations Command go undercover in an attempt to infiltrate a high-end exotic island in the Cayman Islands and track down a cyber weapon named “Karma.” Players take control of David Mason once safely on the island, but when his cover is blown all-out warfare ensures – exactly what we expect from a Call of Duty game! In this mission, players also control a small robotic spider named “Ziggy,” hack into the island’s computer systems, and use a thermal cannon on their way to discovering the secrets behind “Karma.”

#3: “Demon Within”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops III” (2015) The highlight of “Demon Within” is an epic flashback to the Siege of Bastogne during World War II. The protagonist finds himself as a Private during the second Great War who’s been ordered to the front lines. It’s a nice change of pace from all the high-tech warfare and evil robots found in the game’s campaign, offering a more simplistic and nostalgic take on war. Of course, there’s still some futuristic elements scattered throughout the level, as players are seemingly teleported from one part of the siege to the next, but overall the mission’s focus on simplicity is a welcomed surprise.

#2: “Suffer With Me”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops II” (2012) The seventh mission of the second game is arguably the most important in terms of the campaign’s overall story, requiring a major decision by players that will affect the rest of the game, and it includes the death of an important character as well. The operation takes place in Panama in 1989 and revolves around Frank Woods attempting to capture the former commander of the Panama Defense Forces in an effort to get closer to the main target, Raul Menendez. This level is basically a major firefight from beginning to end, and also highly emotional, so it’s best to use the bathroom prior to hitting play! Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: “Payback” “Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010) “Judgment Day” “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” (2012) “Lotus Towers” “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” (2015)

#1: “Vorkuta”

“Call of Duty: Black Ops” (2010) This mission takes home the number-one spot on our list for its incredible sense of immersion in escaping the Soviet prison of Vorkuta, along with its kick-ass step-by-step objective list ranging from “Ascend From Darkness,” “Reign Fire,” “Raise Hell” and “Freedom.” Players take control of Alex Mason once again as he escapes the Russian prison in 1963 alongside Viktor Reznov and ends up liberating the majority of the camp. Accompanied by an incredible soundtrack, the action in “Vorkuta” literally makes us feel like we’re at the center of a small revolution taking place within the dark halls of the prison camp, leaving the hairs on the back of our neck standing at full attention!
