Based on the Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl novel of the same name, “Beautiful Creatures” is a fantastical tale full of mystery and intrigue. The story follows the romance between Ethan Wate, played by Alden Ehrenreich, and Lena Duchannes, portrayed by Alice Englert. Things get complicated by the fact that Lena’s family is possessed by a curse that gives them supernatural abilities. The cast features an impressive ensemble including Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons and Emmy Rossum. Between the stunning costumes and a gorgeous gothic set design, this film will no doubt leave you under its spell.

This Neil Gaiman adaptation of his late 90’s literary epic, is a whirlwind fantastical tale that is pure magic. After Tristan, played by Charlie Cox, enters the kingdom of Stormhold, he embarks on a dangerous journey to retrieve a star for his love, Victoria. Working under a strict deadline, Tristan meets an array of memorable heroic and villainous characters along the way. The cast includes a who’s who of Hollywood titans including Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes and Ian McKellen, just to name a few. It's a fun and dazzling adventure that is a perfect addition to the fairy tale genre.

In this “Disney” adaptation of Natalie Babbitt’s beloved story, Alexis Bledel plays heroine Winnie Foster, a young girl living in 1914. Seeking a life outside of her overbearing family, Winnie meets and falls for a mysterious boy, Jesse Tuck. Fascinated by him and his family, she discovers that the Tucks are immortal. Faced with the option to live out her life naturally or live forever, Winnie must deal with heavy questions about death and mortality. It's a classic story that’s made even more perennial by the fact that its themes are timeless.

A loose adaptation of the 1987 German film, “Wings of Desire”, this movie follows an angel, Seth, who roams the Earth. Helping transition those who are dying into their next phase, he has his world changed for good when he witnesses a surgeon, Maggie, attempting to save a patient. The two fall in love and Seth must decide if he wants to become human. Starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan as the two leads, this tale is ripe with drama, emotional stakes and an ending that will tug on your heart strings.

Oscar winner Brad Pitt has played a lot of parts, but in this late 90’s romance, he faces his ultimate acting challenge by playing Death. Using the alias, Joe Black, he starts to fall for Parrish’s daughter, Susan. Rounding out the cast is Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forlani. The dark tale is inspired by the 1934 film, “Death Takes A Holiday” and boasts a powerful message about the complexities of mortality and love.

Just when you think the zombie genre has been done to death, another unique twist on the undead comes to life. Influenced by Shakespeare’s tragic tale of star-crossed lovers “Romeo & Juliet”, “Bodies” follows the relationship between a human named Julie, played by Teresa Palmer, and a zombie named “R”, portrayed by Nicholas Hoult. Instead of portraying the dead as monstrous, Jonathan Levine’s screenplay portrays the zombie populations as having human emotions and feelings. Based on an Isaac Marion novel, the film is a breath of fresh air for a genre that requires a little resurrection.
