VOICE OVER: Sophia Franklin WRITTEN BY: Lindsay Haley
The best kisses in Netflix movies deserve to be rewatched several times. For this list, we'll be looking at the most memorable lip-locks brought to us by Netflix original films. Our countdown includes "Tick, Tick... Boom!," "Bird Box," "Don't Look Up," and more!

#10: Leilani & Jibran Make Up “The Lovebirds” (2020)

Early in this rollercoaster rom-com, long-time couple Leilani and Jibran called it quits, but absolute chaos ensued right after the breakup. The fresh exes ended up bound together by a mission to prove that they were innocent witnesses of a crime, not murderers. The former couple’s journey to clear their names was fraught with challenges, but eventually, the two managed to escape the madness. Finally able to bask in relief, Leilani and Jibran exchanged some flirty banter. It led to a well-deserved kiss between the lovebirds, who clearly still cared for each other. The sweet moment indicated that the craziness they endured just may have been a bizarre but valuable blessing in disguise.

#9: Charlie & Harper Admit Their Feelings “Set It Up” (2018)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Cast: Where Are They Now?

According to Charlie and Harper, a surefire way to make your life easier is to get your boss to fall in love. The stressed-out assistants teamed up to parent trap their superiors, though things didn’t quite go according to plan. In a karmic turn of events, manipulative efforts backfired and the schemers found themselves jobless. But Charlie and Harper took time to learn from their mistakes, resulting in revelations that they had developed feelings for each other along the way. Charlie made his affections known in a quintessential rom-com scene for the ages, professing his admiration for Harper and sealing the deal with a kiss. Though it was the ending we saw coming, the reversed parent trap moment still touched our hearts.

#8: Ellie & Aster’s Goodbye “The Half of It” (2020)

This refreshing coming-of-age film follows Ellie as she navigates high school, life, and love. She accepts a risky request to write love letters to Aster posing as someone else. But things get complicated when she forms a connection that could only be acted on behind the facade. Inevitably, the true heart behind the words was uncovered. And it set the stage for a moment that spoke to the importance of loving yourself before searching for love in others. When Aster admitted her potential feelings, Ellie capped off their story with an emotionally charged goodbye kiss. The embrace showed that it's not about the fairytale ending, but rather about learning and growing with the help of special people encountered along the way.

#7: Sasha & Marcus Reconcile on the Red Carpet “Always Be My Maybe” (2019)

Years apart, long distance, and a rise to fame might be insurmountable for some couples, but not for Sasha and Marcus. The childhood friends and teenage lovers reunited as adults thanks to a seemingly fated chance encounter in their hometown. The celebrity chef and struggling band member began to rediscover their chemistry. But Sasha’s established life and planned move to New York derailed their rekindled romance. Luckily, after some self-reflection, Marcus decided to surprise her at a red carpet event, where he profoundly and amusingly declared his wish to be with her. A passionate kiss followed his heartwarming speech, leaving the event attendees and us at home swooning over the adorable twosome.

#6: Lara Jean & Peter’s Gym Class Kiss “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” (2018)

Netflix’s token rom-com star, Noah Centineo, embodied Peter Kavinsky, secret love letter writer Lara Jean’s crush. When the personal notes Lara Jean had written to all the boys she loved before were mysteriously mailed, some awkward conversations were unavoidable. During gym class, Peter confronted Lara Jean with his letter in hand, causing her to, understandably, faint. As she came to and saw another love letter recipient approaching, she planted a big ol’ kiss on Peter. The comical smooch was the first of many more romantic kisses to come for the future couple. Who could forget their ball night’s kiss in the movie’s sequel (xref), or their makeup kiss in the film series’ final installment? (xref)

#5: Kate & Yule Get To Know Each Other “Don’t Look Up” (2021)

A Jennifer Lawrence and Timothée Chalamet makeout was not on our list of predictions for 2021. Yet this movie made it happen, and we’re not mad about it. The apocalyptic comedy saw the actors take on the roles of Kate and Yule, a hysterically opposite astronomer and shoplifter whose paths crossed under grim circumstances. With a world-ending comet looming, a discouraged Kate agreed to hang out with Yule upon meeting. Seizing the opportunity, Yule went in for a kiss and was initially met with rejection. But hey, considering the impending doom factor, Kate went for it. And we mean went for it. It’s undoubtedly not the most romantic smooch, but nonetheless, it's a moment we won't stop rewatching anytime soon.

#4: Alex & Elliot’s Bedroom Lip-Lock “Alex Strangelove” (2018)

A duo that stands out from the rom-com pack is found in “Alex Strangelove”, a masterful fusion of humor, love, and self-discovery. After planning to lose his virginity to his girlfriend, Alex ran into Elliot, an out and proud teenager who was blatantly attracted to him. This left the titular character confused about his own sexuality. Alex’s questions were explored in an incredibly relatable scene, as he and Elliot released pent-up tension in a hot and heavy makeout moment. Even though Alex was perplexed by the impassioned ordeal and fled the room, there’s no denying the electric chemistry that was on display. The two hormonal teens certainly seemed to enjoy the kiss, and we don’t blame them!

#3: Malorie & Tom’s Passionate Smooch “Bird Box” (2018)

Although this post-apocalyptic thriller was mainly concerned with survival, it still gave viewers a necessary dose of romance. At the center of the story was Malorie, a pregnant woman saved from evil entities by the super attractive Tom. The two quickly seemed to take a shine to each other, and Tom was very protective of the mother-to-be. Fast forward five years, Malorie, her kids, and Tom all lived together. In a scene that successfully distracted us from the horrors outside, Malorie and Tom shared a steamy kiss, leaving what followed up to our imagination. It was a climactic moment for the ride-or-die duo, who against all odds, found love and partnership in a dark, cruel world.

#2: Jonathan & Susan on the Rooftop “Tick, Tick... Boom!” (2021)

This 2021 movie told the story of talented composer Jonathan Larson, who had big dreams. As he worked toward creating a musical masterpiece, he tried to manage the pressures of his aspirations and a relationship with Susan. She had dreams of her own, lending to uncertainties regarding their future together. But that didn’t stop them from living in the present. Outside his apartment, Jonathan and Susan shared a rooftop kiss. It was a beautiful testament to the love they had forged despite the struggles they faced as artists in a big city. Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Larson was exquisitely convincing throughout the film. But the love he exuded for Susan in this moment, and in the sensual one that followed, was especially memorable. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Lee & Rachel’s Blindfolded Kiss, “The Kissing Booth 2” (2020) Elle & Noah Who? These Two Stole the Kissing Booth Crown Dot & Trevor Part Ways, “The Fundamentals of Caring” (2016) A Road Trip Capped off with a Tender Goodbye Kiss Jennifer & Anthony on the Train Together, “The Last Letter from Your Lover” (2021) The Alternate Ending Everyone Deserved Adam & Laura Reunite, “The Adam Project” (2022) Making Out in Front of Your 12-Year-Old Self? Us Non-Time Travelers Wish We Could Relate Jenny & Nate Connect, “Someone Great” (2019) There’s Nothing Like a Steamy College Flashback to Get Hearts Racing

#1: Joe & Nicky Affirm Their Love “The Old Guard” (2020)

Also in:

Top 10 Worst Netflix Romance Movies

“The Old Guard” was a cinematic game-changer that raised the bar for action movies. The romance between immortal warriors Joe and Nicky was a compelling love story free of time’s bounds, and gave us much-needed queer representation in the genre. In possibly the most adoring declaration of love ever, Joe appropriately responded to an ignorant guard who mocked his relationship with Nicky while they were imprisoned. Overcome by the affectionate outpouring, Nicky proudly went on to kiss his love. The moment was undoubtedly a reprieve from the violence of the rest of the film. But more than that, the display was an extremely touching viewing experience that truly melted our hearts.
