This actress always looks classically stylish on the red carpet, and this year’s Oscars were no exception. She always picks something flattering and timeless, and her cobalt blue Atelier Versace gown was unique enough to feel surprising, yet held an old Hollywood glamour all at the same time. The fitted bodice and cinched waist showed off Garner’s physique, while the bold color stood out among many neutrals. And while her jewelry may seem relatively understated, according to Forbes, her Piaget earrings alone cost over $600 thousand!

Jennifer Lawrence has been present at the Oscars many times over the past few years as a nominee. Even though she was only presenting at the 90th Academy Awards, she still wore something showstopping, donning a floor length gown by Dior which was fully embellished with sequins. The end result was something that appeared almost like chainmail. Lawrence’s long golden locks made a comeback, and she didn’t shy away from pairing bold makeup with a truly standout dress.

#8: Taraji P. Henson

You know when Taraji P. Henson hits the red carpet, she will positively own whatever she’s wearing. Henson looked confident and radiant in a black custom Vera Wang dress with a thigh-high slit and intricate draping in the bust. The combination of side cut outs, the cut on the sleeves, and the sheer quality of the gown was at once daring, but also SO classy. She completed the look with a sleek and simple ‘do and a bold aubergine lip as a standout.

#7: Allison Janney

Allison Janney was favored to win the award for Best Supporting Actress, and her fans and supporters were not disappointed. For the occasion, the actress chose a bright scarlet gown by Reem Acra which perfectly complemented the red carpet. The dress had a classic silhouette – except for the epic floor length sleeves, which really made it stand out. Janney didn’t hold back from pairing some extravagant jewels with her brightly colored dress, and all said and done it was reported that she was wearing over $4 million in diamonds!

This actress may not have received any accolades for her blockbuster performance in 2017’s “Wonder Woman”, but that didn’t stop her from showing up at the Oscars in a gown worthy of an award winner. Gadot wore a Givenchy dress that appeared in the designer’s Spring 2018 runway show, looking like she stepped right out of the 1920s. The dress’ sequins and fringe made for a jaw dropping effect when Gadot walked the red carpet, and her statement necklace brought things over the top.

There’s something to be said for keeping things simple when you’re a first-time Oscar nominee, and Margot Robbie decided to do just that. Nominated for her performance in “I, Tonya”, the young actress opted for a white gown by Chanel Haute Couture, a nice statement considering she’s also Chanel’s newest ambassador. The dress was set apart by its off the shoulder neckline and almost tinsel-like detail draping on her arms. Her neutral fresh-faced look was a lovely way to keep the whole effect bright and beautiful.

#4: Allison Williams

For the big night, she opted for a look that gave off definite fairytale princess vibes. Her pale blush gown was designed by Armani Privé, and the classic silhouette was a perfect pick. Her brunette locks were styled into gorgeous Old Hollywood waves, and her was make-up kept understated but absolutely radiant.

#3: Gina Rodriguez

Pale hues were definitely de rigeur this awards season, with many of our top picks opting for white, nude and blush options. Gina Rodriguez joined the ranks in a stunning Zuhair Murad dress with a plunging neckline and a silhouette that felt like a modern iteration of the classic ballgown. This gown also brought the sparkle, with unique embellishments that felt festive and fresh. With such a standout dress, the actress chose simple and understated hair and makeup, with her slick ponytail adding another touch of modernity to the overall ensemble.

#2: Saoirse Ronan

Two actresses wore very similar dresses on the red carpet, and while one will definitely make its way onto more best dressed lists because of its Oscar-nominated wearer, both were undoubtedly extraordinary pieces. One was of course Saoirse Ronan, nominated for “Lady Bird,” who wore a pastel pink gown by Calvin Klein that had a minimalist silhouette – aside from the oversized bow adorning the back. The other was “Black Panther’s” Danai Gurira, who chose a very similarly shaped dress by Gabriela Hearst – just without the bow. Both of these ladies looked incredible, and the looks were just different enough to stand apart. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Mary J. Blige Abbie Cornish Laura Dern

#1: Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman has appeared on many red carpets in the past year because of her role in HBO’s “Big Little Lies”, but it seems as though she saved the best dress for last. The actress turned heads in a structured electric blue dress with a deep sweetheart neckline. Perhaps the most notable part was a modernist bow in the front, which gave the actress an otherworldly silhouette. The dress was by Giorgio Armani, and was constructed with a fabric that gave an almost metallic sheen to the look. Kidman is no stranger to making best dressed lists, and this time is no exception.
