Top 10 Badass One Piece Moments
Top 10 Badass One Piece MomentsWelcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Badass One Piece Moments.#10: Kuma Saves BonneyBeing the cream of the crop of the celestial dragons, we could already guess that the Five Elders were going to be detestable bastards. Well it turns out that at least one of them was worse than we expected. Saint Saturn was pretty much behind most of the awful stuff that both Kuma and Bonney had gone through in their lives, and it seemed like he was going to make things all the more worse by killing Bonney. But right before he can, despite having his humanity and will taken from him with all sorts of crazy experiments, Kuma suddenly makes the save and strikes the elder with one of the most badass punches in the series. The fact that the opening song at the time ANGEL & DEVIL plays right as Bonney realizes what’s happening makes this moment all the more perfect.#9: Mere EmperorPretty much everyone was terrified of Big Mom, and it was for good reason. She was one of the Four Emperors of the sea and possessed some of the most broken devil fruit abilities, Soul Pocus in particular. So for Jinbe to confront her face to face and proclaim that he was breaking all ties with her took a lot of balls. Just as everyone expected, Big Mom does not take Jinbe’s departure kindly, and immediately asks him “Stay or Life”. Much to the surprise of the Emperor, it has no effect on the former Warlord of the sea, but the real kicker is when Jinbe makes this proclamation to her.#8: Oden BoiledThere’s a reason why Oden’s retainers were so devoutly loyal to their lord, and perhaps this moment is the best example of why. After failing to defeat Kaido due to his underlings trickery, Oden and the Akazaya Nine are sentenced to death by Orochi. The method of their execution? Boiled to death inside of a giant pan. Oden refuses to let his retainers meet their end however, and proceeds to carry all of them above his head as he boils for hours upon hours. Any normal human would have died in seconds, but this is the daimyo of Kuri we’re talking about here, and he only meets his end when he’s shot in the head by Kaido.#7: Shanks Sinks KidEustass Kid and his crew must have felt like hot shit after he defeated Big Mom alongside Trafalgar Law at the end of the Wano Arc. Unfortunately he really must have let this get to his head if he thought he could take out the one and only Shanks. After seeing a vision where his crew gets absolutely obliterated by Kid’s railgun, the red haired pirate takes matters into his own hands and blasts right through the Kid Pirates fleet. With but one move, the Divine Departure Shanks slices right through Kid’s weapon, easily defeating him. Even though Kid’s crew beg for mercy, Shank’s is having none of it, and allows Dorry and Brogy to devastate their ship.#6: Whitebeard Dies StandingWhitebeard was one of the most powerful pirates to have ever existed, seriously, this guy's strengths rivaled even that of the King of the Pirates Gold Roger. Unfortunately his life would come to an end at the Summit War of Marineford. After taking all sorts of attacks during this insane skirmish, it’s Blackbeard and his crew's relentless onslaught of bullets that are enough to finally kill him. Despite all of this, even in death Whitebeard stands triumphantly, with his back not showing a single scar, meaning he never ran away from a fight. Even in death, Whitebeard is a certified badass.#5: I Needed a LightApart from Luffy’s rubber-man abilities nullifying them, it’s pretty much a given that anyone who gets hit by one of Enel's electrical attacks is going to be left on the verge of death. Just as Usopp and Nami are about to make their escape from the Ark Maxim, Enel fires an “El Thor” straight towards them. Right before it hits however, Sanji gets in the way and sacrifices himself, taking the full brunt of it. Somehow, the Straw Hat Chef tanks the hit and stands tall, thanking the Kami of Skypiea for the light.#4: Luffy Protects Hiriluk's FlagDesecrating someone's flag in One Piece is one of the biggest signs of disrespect, especially for the Straw Hat Captain Luffy. When Wapol attempts to shoot down Hiriluk’s flag with Luffy, much to the dismay of Chopper, Luffy decides not to move an inch, and takes on the attack. Emerging from the smoke Luffy stands triumphantly with the flag still mostly intact. It’s a moment we’ll never forget, and we have no doubt that it definitely won Chopper over!#3: Nothing HappenedJust as it seemed the Thriller Bark arc was finally reaching its conclusion after the defeat of Gecko Moria, a much bigger threat arrives on the scene: Kuma. The Warlord of the Sea, who is after Luffy’s life, makes quick work of whoever is left standing. In order to save his Captain, Zoro steps up and bravely offers his own life instead. This display of loyalty sways Kuma, who decides to offer to let Luffy go, but only if Zoro takes in all of his pain. Without hesitation, Zoro accepts despite the fact that it could very well kill him. The following badass scene of Zoro covered in blood is etched into the minds of all One Piece fans, and when Sanji discovers him and asks what the heck happened, this is all Zoro can say.#2: Shoot Down That FlagWhile desperately attempting to rescue their fellow crewmember Nico Robin, the Straw Hats confront the CP9 members right in the middle of Enies Lobby in one of the most badass showdowns of the series. The Cipher Pol agency's leader Spandam is more than happy to remind them just how out of their minds they are, and that to fight against them is the same as opposing the entire world. Not one to back down against anything, Luffy boldly orders Sogeking to shoot down the World Governments flag, an act that is seen as a declaration of war. No matter what the Straw Hats come up against, even if it’s the most powerful organization on the planet, they’ll always watch out for each other.#1: The Walk to Arlong ParkFor many, this was a moment that defined the early stages of One Piece. With nowhere else to turn after Arlong betrays and robs her of her money, Nami finally gives in and asks Luffy for help. In response, Luffy entrusts her with his straw hat and yells out loud that of course he will. He then proceeds to walk to Arlong Park with the rest of his crew. While you could say this is just Toei Animation prolonging the scene to make the episode's runtime, there’s just something extremely badass about seeing Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Usopp walk towards Arlong Park in solidarity. This is also one of the first times the tune “Overtaken” is played in the Anime, cementing it as one of the most iconic themes in the series.Which One Piece moment do you think is the most badass?
