Top 10 Anticipated Anime of 2019
VOICE OVER: Ashley Bowman WRITTEN BY: Alex Crilly-Mckean
They can't get here soon enough! Welcome to WatchMojo and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anticipated Anime of 2019.
For this list, we'll be looking at the anime set to be release next year and ranking them on the sheer levels of hype! Keep in mind we will only be considering titles that have actually been given a confirmed release date, so this unfortunately means we won't be including the likes of new properties such as Dorohedoro or sequel series such as Made in Abyss Season Two.
Top 10 Anticipated Anime of 2019 They can’t get here soon enough! Welcome to WatchMojo and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anticipated Anime of 2019. For this list, we’ll be looking at the anime set to be release next year and ranking them on the sheer levels of hype! Keep in mind we will only be considering titles that have actually been given a confirmed release date, so this unfortunately means we won’t be including the likes of new properties such as Dorohedoro or sequel series such as Made in Abyss Season Two.

#10: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” (2019)

Also in:

Top 20 Demon Slayer Fights

Granted, every shounen under the sun has demons pop up at some point or another, and while this title doesn’t look like it will be breaking any new ground, the manga has already established itself as quite the action romp! Given how the series is also being brought to us by Ufotable, we can expect the fights to be nothing short of spellbinding. Thankfully, given how Tanjirou’s quest to cure his sister of her demonic affliction is going to lead him smack dab in the middle of a hellish horde, there should be no shortage of battles to satiate our bloodlust.

#9: “Vinland Saga” (2019)

Who’s ready for anime Vikings? Trick question, everyone is ready for anime Vikings, especially if they come as battle-hardened as Thorkell and company. Focusing on the Danish occupation of England, this beloved historical manga has been noted to bear many similarities to the likes of masterpieces such as Berserk due to its violent content and gritty characters. He’s hoping the adaptation manages to live up to the legacy of the source material and doesn’t skip out on the brutal confrontations. We’re more than ready for a vicious history lesson!

#8: “A Certain Scientific Accelerator” & “A Certain Scientific Railgun 3”

Jeez, when this franchise decides to make a return it really goes all out. Fresh off the third season of A Certain Magical Index, everyone’s two favourite side characters are stepping up to the plate for their own solo series. On one side you’ve got Misaka and her fellow esper girlfriends kicking things up a notch as they try to keep order in Academy City. Then you have resident anti-hero Accelerator, who looks set to have his own mini-redemption arc as he uses his all-consuming psychic powers in order to protect the adorable Last Order. Step aside Touma.

#7: “Dr. Stone” (2019)

Top 10 Anticipated Anime of Summer 2019

Humanity is about to head back to the stone-age, and from the looks of things it’s going to be awesome. After all of mankind is reverted to stone, lovestruck teen Taiju finds himself escaping his rocky prison thousand of years later, only to find that as more and more teenage escapees appear, things quickly start to head towards Lord of the Flies territory. Given how quickly the manga has rose to become a candidate for the new Big Three, we have high hopes for this one!

#6: “Promare” (2019)

Oh Trigger, just when we think we’ve escaped you, you pull us right back in. Darling in the Franxx may have gone off the rails and SSSS.Gridman seems to have divided fans, we still can’t deny we’re all in when it comes to this upcoming film. We’ve got the signature slick animation, a protagonist who looks like the second coming of Kamina, and of course, giant robots. Who knows if it can hope to reach the heights of Gurren Lagann or Kill la Kill with such a strict runtime, but at the very least we’re hoping it can blow our minds away in its signature Trigger-ness.

#5: “The Promised Neverland” (2019)

Also in:

Top 10 Anime of Winter 2019

Out of all the new titles set to be released in the coming year, this is the one we personally can’t wait to see. While life seems perfect for a group of orphans, they soon discover that their sheltered sentence on a farm is nothing more than illusion, and that being “adopted” is actually a fate worse than death. Thus, we have the Great Escape mixed together with the darkest of fantasy settings. We can only imagine the amount of tension this show is going to send our way, especially since our endearing leads are a group of children marked for death.

#4: “Mob Psycho 100 II” (2019)

Also in:

Top 10 Anticipated Anime of Fall 2019

The adorable student capable of collapsing society with his unlimited psychic powers is finally back, and from the looks of things he’s bringing all the hilarity and destruction you could want. What can we expect from this season? Oh, the usual, Mob being a sweetheart, Reigen being the most entertaining con man ever, as well as plenty of enemy espers foolishly thinking that can try and stomp over anime’s most mismatched duo. We’re not exaggerating when we say we’re one hundred percent ready for more of Mob’s mindbending action!

#3: “My Hero Academia” Season Four (2019)

Also in:

Top 10 Things to Remember Before Hero Academia Season 6

Each year this modern shounen masterclass unleashes a new season, and each year the quality just keeps going up. With All Might now retired as the Symbol of Peace, it’s up to the wannabe superheroes of Class 1-A to rise to the challenge and take on the growing threat of the League of Villains. With U.A High’s Big Three now entering the battle, along with the mysterious yet oh so deadly Overhaul, the world of caped crusaders looks set to explode. Not sure how this series keeps managing to go Plus Ultra, but it’s showing no signs of stopping!

#2: “Attack on Titan” Season Three Part 2 (2019)

Also in:

Top 10 Things To Remember Before Attack On Titan Final Season Part 2

Just when you thought this series couldn’t have anything else to throw at us, it turned everything up to eleven before leaving us on the biggest cliffhanger ever. From the looks of things, Levi, Eren and the rest are in for one hell of a battle. Not only do they have to deal with the corrupt remnants of humanity’s monarchy, but from the looks of things Bertholdt and Reiner are back for round two. We have no idea how things are going to turn out, but going by the little stinger at the end of Part One…things are going to get bloody.

#1: “One Punch Man” Season Two (2019)

Also in:

Top 10 Anticipated Anime of Spring 2019

Okay Saitama, you’ve made us look like fools for the last time! While we were all vastly disappointed that the world’s strongest hero didn’t manage to make a grand return back in 2017… or 2018, it looks like the caped baldy and his cyborg disciple are dead set on returning to small screens this Spring. Good thing too, since we’re pretty sure fans might have lost their minds if they had to wait any longer to see Saitama and Genos take on more monsters, rival heroes, and hopefully copious amounts of Tatsumaki. One thing’s for sure, this sequel series is going to blow away the competition with a single punch.
