Yeah, everyone remembers “CatDog”, right? It may not be as recognizable to the newer generation of kids, but the show’s theme song is still fondly remembered by many. “CatDog’s” theme briefly explains the concept of the series with a catchy country song. You also get a glimpse at some of the other characters you’ll see throughout the seasons, such as the Greaser Dogs, Rancid Rabbit, and Winslow. It might take a little time to memorize the lyrics, but the chorus will stick in your head for a while.

It may not strike a chord with every viewer, but its chorus is bound to get stuck in your head. So, don’t be shocked if you find yourself humming it.

Our only complaint is that we wish it had an extended version. Seriously, with amazing lyrics like that, how can you not write a full song?

Of all of the theme songs we’ve heard, “Rocko’s Modern Life” has to be the most bizarre one on Nickelodeon. Nonetheless, it also has an interesting history of going through several changes throughout the show’s lifetime. While the first season would have the strangest tune, future seasons would go through a major change in music. If the vocals sound familiar, it’s because the B-52’s would perform the theme music from Season 2 onwards. When you think about it, their musical style fits well into a cartoon as abstract as “Rocko’s Modern Life.”

“The Fairly OddParents” has had a sizeable history of memorable music. In addition to the upbeat jazz melody, the song’s lyrics manage to explain the concept of the show, which lets new viewers jump into any episode without missing anything important. The only downside to this theme is that the newer version changes the lyrics, which disrupts the even flow the original had. At least it makes the old version shine brighter!

However, this wasn’t something created just for the show. It’s actually the same theme song made for the movie, but modified and performed by American rock band Bowling for Soup. That version can be found on the movie’s official soundtrack, and with its jammin’ rhythm, the full song is well-worth listening to.

This allows any new viewer to understand the story without getting bogged down by unnecessary details, and the steady pace lets viewers learn the lyrics with ease. In hindsight, they could have made a filler episode out of the backstory, but this was an exceptional way of going about it!

It also does a decent job at giving the spotlight to nearly every character, major and minor. “Hey Arnold” may not have a visual spectacle to kick off episodes, but it doesn’t need one, and at least you’ll never forget who the star is.
