VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
With the series cancellation, we're left with more questions than answers! Join us as we count down the most frustrating unfinished storylines from "And Just Like That..." that we'll probably never see resolved. From forgotten career changes to mysterious character disappearances, these plot threads were abandoned faster than Carrie's podcast career! Our countdown includes Brady's upcoming baby, Charlotte's unexplained vertigo, Miranda's abandoned law degree, Seema's whirlwind romance, Carrie's forgotten Instagram account, and many more baffling loose ends. Which unresolved storyline frustrated you the most? Let us know in the comments below!

#10: Did Charlotte & Lisa’s Kids Get into College?

“AJLT” has always been like that out-of-touch relative who tries way too hard to be relevant, throwing out trendy buzzwords to connect with the younger crowd. Even so, they were late to the rich-parents-pushing-kids-into-Ivy-League storyline. Charlotte and Lisa hire Lois Fingerhood, a hotshot college admissions advisor, played to perfection by Kristen Schaal. But some of her tips make the moms realize their kids’ well-being matters more than a fancy school name. So did Lily and Herbert Jr. follow Lois’ advice or their mothers’? Did Charlotte and Lisa convince Lois to return? And did either kid land an Ivy League spot, or decide it wasn’t worth the stress after all?

#9: What on Earth Was Going On with That Jewelry Heist?

“Sex and the City” always showed us a glamorized Manhattan, and for the most part, “AJLT” keeps that fantasy alive. Seema’s Birkin being swiped in broad daylight without anyone blinking felt like a callback to Carrie’s stolen shoes and baguette. But then came the theft at Lisette’s showcase. The fake cater-waiter may have been plausible, but in what way was Carrie yelling about COVID supposed to help!? And sure, Seema was still clearly rattled from her own robbery, but pulling out a fake gun lighter? Like, what!? Did they ever catch the guy or recover Lisette’s jewelry? And what a strange and jarring tonal shift compared with the show’s usually polished view of New York.

#8: What Was with All That Weight Loss Product Placement?

This episode has Herbert obsessing over his appearance while running for city comptroller. This could've had real potential to explore male body image, invite a fresh conversation about how appearance impacts different genders, or even unpack the effects of the medication itself. But, true to form, the show barely scratches the surface. The whole scene ends up feeling more like a slick nod to a trendy weight loss drug and nothing more. “AJLT” loves tossing in hot-button topics, but once again, there’s no depth, no follow-through. It all wraps up right where it started. So what was the point? Commentary, product placement, or just another half-baked subplot squeezed in to tick a cultural relevance box?

#7: What Happened to Carrie’s Fashion-Insta?

Cast your mind back to the “AJLT” pilot, if you can do so without cringing. In the very first scene, Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda meet for lunch, where Carrie casually mentions starting an Instagram account to document interesting fashion she spots around the city. At the time, we were already asking, erm, whatever happened to asking for permission to take and post photos of strangers? But now we’re wondering: if it really blew up like Carrie claimed, why was it never mentioned again? Same with the podcast. Sure, Che’s gone, we’ll get to that, but what about the rest of the team? And for someone with Carrie’s status, wouldn’t launching her own podcast make perfect sense?

#6: Will Seema & Adam Get Married?

Where was Adam two seasons ago? Then again, maybe it’s for the best; who knows what kind of character assassination he would’ve faced? Still, Adam is exactly the kind of character this series needed. His relationship with Seema brought warmth, chemistry, and growth. With him, she felt safe enough to lower her guard, and her worldview began to shift. When Adam shared his views on marriage, it made Seema reconsider her own, a storyline that had real potential but came far too late. “SATC” has always shown us people can evolve: Miranda with motherhood, Carrie with marriage, and Samantha with commitment. Would Adam have changed his mind? Or would Seema have realized happiness doesn’t need a ring?

#5: What Happened to Che?

Who here is a Che stan? Oh, are those crickets we hear? Thought so. Still, they were a major presence in the first two seasons of AJLT. And while few were sad to see them go, it’s baffling how the show now acts like they never existed. There’s been much speculation about Che’s exit. The creators say they’d simply completed their story, but that’s about as believable as claiming the show’s cancellation had nothing to do with falling ratings. If Che’s sitcom had finally found an audience after a total revamp, or if their stand-up career had really blown up, surely, someone would have at least mentioned it. Instead, it’s like they never existed.

#4: Wasn’t Miranda Trying to Become a Human Rights Lawyer?

In the first episode, Miranda talks about going back to school to get her master’s so she can specialize in human rights law. Her life almost immediately implodes, and she becomes this totally unrecognizable person. Like, in what universe would “SATC” Miranda give up a high-demand, prestigious internship just to follow her significant other across the country? She later lands a Human Rights internship, which she absolutely bosses, seeming to get back on track to the Miranda we know, even finding love along the way. But what happened to her master’s degree? We last heard she was finishing it remotely, so… did she graduate? And if she did, why didn’t anyone mention it?

#3: Where’s Nya?

Like Che, Nya Wallace is another character who just… disappeared. One minute, she’s a main part of the show with interesting storylines, and the next, it’s like she was never there. Karen Pittman left before season three, reportedly because of scheduling conflicts, but the show barely even acknowledges her. Nya had some great arcs: her struggles with fertility, her divorce, and being a total powerhouse lawyer. By the end of season two, she seemed ready for a fresh start after meeting Toussaint Feldman and joining the American Law Institute. We get that the decision to leave might’ve come later, but still, a quick line to explain her absence? Something like, “She’s on sabbatical,” maybe?

#2: What Happened with Charlotte’s Vertigo?

Okay, can we just say, poor Charlotte! Vertigo is a real and serious condition, but here, it’s treated like a running joke. It shows a clear lack of research and feels pretty tone-deaf. The writers also missed an opportunity to explain that vertigo can be linked to menopause. Actually, remember the one time menopause was brought up in the whole series? Yep, Charlotte was the butt of the joke that time, too. And just like that time, her vertigo is mentioned in one episode and that’s it. Did they include it just for a quick laugh and move on? Can someone explain to us why, in “AJLT,” people seem to recover from everything practically overnight?

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

What Happened to Tony Danza?

#1: What Will Happen When Brady’s Baby Is Born?

We assume that this storyline was introduced to run in parallel to Brady’s own birth story but with many of the details changed. But introducing something this big so close to the series finale makes us wonder, if the writers even knew this was their last season? It definitely leaves us with a lot of questions. What’s going to happen between Brady and Mia? Will she let Brady and his parents be involved in the baby’s life? Could this somehow bring Miranda and Steve closer again, just as friends? And what about those plans for culinary school Brady just announced? What will this all mean for his future? So many loose ends!
