On the show, George Robinson plays Isaac Goodwin, Maeve’s neighbor who moves into the caravan park at the start of season two. The character, whose disability was based on Robinson’s real-life one, became a love interest for Maeve and soon antagonized fans with his actions at the end of the season. Robinson has become an advocate for disability representation, appearing at the 2021 Edinburgh TV festival to promote the cause. While “Sex Education” was his first foray into acting, Robinson has since appeared in two episodes of the British crime drama series “Dalgliesh.” He is set to play the leading role in “Still Life,” based on the award-winning article about a true story.

For Rakhee Thakrar, “Sex Education” wasn’t her first major TV gig. The English actress had made small appearances in multiple TV shows, but got her big break on the BBC soap opera “EastEnders.” She became known internationally on “Sex Education,” where she plays Emily Sands, the caring and supportive English teacher at Moordale. In 2021, Thakrar began starring in a recurring role in the four-part psychological thriller series “The Girl Before,” which premiered on BBC One in the UK, and HBO Max in the U.S. Her next major appearance will come in the 2023 musical fantasy film “Wonka” alongside Hollywood stars like Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman and Keegan-Michael Key.

After garnering acclaim for starring in the HBO hit series “Girls,” Jemima Kirke took on a bunch of supporting roles in movies and TV shows before landing the character of Hope Haddon on “Sex Education.” Hope is appointed as the new headmistress at Moordale and quickly becomes the villain, setting up brash and conservative programs in a bid to restore the school’s reputation. Right after filming the third season of the show, Kirke was cast in the Hulu limited series “Conversations with Friends,” based on the 2017 novel of the same name. In the miniseries, Kirke plays Melissa, a writer whose marriage becomes intertwined with two younger people with a shared history.

Swindells’ portrayal of Adam Groff, an impulsive school jerk who eventually matures into a more compassionate and sensitive person, endeared him to millions of fans around the world. Swindells, who we bet is a sweetheart in real life, appeared in the thriller “The Vanishing” before breaking out on “Sex Education” in 2019. He has since played a naval officer in the 2021 BBC whodunnit “Vigil,” which became the channel’s most viewed new drama of that year. His upcoming projects include the historical miniseries “SAS: Rogue Heroes,” helmed by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight, and the 2023 “Barbie” movie by Greta Gerwig.

By the time Gillian Anderson brought the role of Jean Milburn to life, she was by no means a newcomer to the television world. With years of experience on shows like “The X-Files” and “Hannibal,” she was perhaps best suited to play the character who’s the most enlightened on the show’s subject. Throughout the third season’s break, Anderson has remained booked and busy, taking on a recurring role on the second season of Hulu’s “The Great.” She also starred as one of the leading ladies on the anthology series “The First Lady,” filling the very big shoes of Eleanor Roosevelt. She is set to appear in the 2022 films “White Bird: A Wonder Story” and “The Pale Blue Eye.”

Aimee Lou Wood began her career as a theater actress, appearing in many productions before clinching the role of Aimee Gibbs on “Sex Education.” While it was her screen debut, Wood’s impressive turn as Gibbs, especially in the second season, received high praise and won her the BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance. Even while working on “Sex Education,” Wood still traced her roots back to theatre, taking on the role of Sonya in a 2020 production of “Uncle Vanya.” She also appeared in 2021’s “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain,” which marked her feature film debut. Next, she’ll be starring opposite Bill Nighy in the 2022 film “Living,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim.

Before his leading turn as Otis Milburn on “Sex Education,” many people would recognize Asa Butterfield from at least one major Hollywood production. Butterfield, whose career began as a child actor at the age of seven, has starred in titles such as “Ender’s Game” and “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.” Since the third season of “Sex Education,” Butterfield has had a pretty busy schedule, playing leading roles in the 2022 movies “Choose or Die” and “Flux Gourmet.” He has also been cast in the upcoming films “Watch the Skies,” “The Liar” and “College Republicans,” in which he plays a young Karl Rove, who became a key player in the George W. Bush administration.

On “Sex Education,” Simone Ashley plays the role of the stereotypically vain, but sometimes kind Olivia Hanan, a member of the Untouchables clique. While her character mostly exists in the shadow of Queen Bee Ruby Matthews, Ashley has proven herself to be a leading lady outside of the show. The English actress landed the role of Lady Kate on Netflix’s biggest hit series “Bridgerton.” Ashley appears on the show’s record-breaking second season and has nabbed a stable gig for herself, after being announced to return in its upcoming installments. In addition to that, she was cast in the live-action Disney movie “The Little Mermaid,” which is set to premiere in 2023.

A trained actor from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Ncuti Gatwa’s career took off when he was cast as the relentlessly joyous and flamboyant Eric Effiong on “Sex Education.” The role helped the Rwandan-Scottish actor warm his way into the hearts of audiences and critics alike, and earned him a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best TV Actor. This recognition, along with his undeniable acting chops of course, helped him win the role of the titular Doctor in the long-running BBC sci-fi show “Doctor Who.” Gatwa will portray the fourteenth incarnation of the Doctor, becoming the first Black actor to play the character in a leading capacity. He will also be joining his “Sex Education” co-stars in the 2023 “Barbie” movie.

Like most of the rest of the “Sex Education” cast, Emma Mackey was a relative unknown before she hit our screens as the brilliant yet sardonic Maeve Wiley. The role, which was her first professional gig, shot Mackey to international recognition and earned her a BAFTA TV nomination. While working on “Sex Education,” Mackey returned to her French roots, appearing in the romantic film “Eiffel.” She also played a pivotal role in the Agatha Christie mystery thriller “Death on the Nile.” Most recently, she has been cast in the upcoming “Barbie” movie and is set to star as famed English writer Emily Brontё in the eponymous biopic. Needless to say, we’ll be keeping our eyes out for this burgeoning Hollywood star.
