Forgotten Video Games: Tornado Outbreak

Some games are better than you think. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be taking a look at 2009’s all-but ignored action game “Tornado Outbreak” for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Cast into obscurity upon release, gamers mistook this Katamari-inspired game by Konami and Loose Cannon Studios as nothing more then a budget title.
In reality, Tornado Outbreak is one of the most fun and addictive titles in recent memory. Genuinely surprising gamers who gave the adventure a chance, the game centers on the premise that you must destroy locales around the world in order to save the entire planet. As backwards as it may seem at first, there's a deep and well-voiced story to go along with the mayhem.
In the role of a Wind Warrior, you are tasked with making planets habitable. However, your friend, the anti-matter being Omegaton has been rendered powerless by your enemies, the Fire Flyers. They have stolen his power orbs and scattered them across the Earth. As a result, you must unearth the fire flyers and take back the stolen orbs by destroying everything in your way.
As Zephyr, the leader of the wind elementals, you take the form of a tornado and must grow in size by absorbing the various objects in your path. This will allow you to grow from a harmless twister to a city-devouring whirlwind as you make your way across the globe. Each level consists of three different zones, a vortex race in which you create a city-sized environmental catastrophe, and a Totem battle.
As you progress through the adventure new gameplay mechanics are introduced, which always helps keep the experience fresh. This includes learning how to catch Fire Fliers to extend your time limit, and chaining these catches together, for a power boost. It also sports incredible replay value as you can go back with your newfound abilities and accomplish tasks that were very difficult or impossible early on.
In addition to this, the game also features the use of light and darkness, as you are harmed by UV radiation and must stay out of sun.
Sporting excellent music and addictive gameplay, this cartoonish game deserves a whirl by hardcore and casual gamers alike.
