10 Easter Eggs And References In Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Initially thought to release in October of 2020, that was a pretty tough year for game development. 2021 wasn’t much better, but developer Traveler’s Tales ensured fans they’d be able to enjoy the entire Skywalker Saga in LEGO form in early 2022. And we honestly can’t wait. Traveler’s Tales has been churning out great LEGO games based on popular IPs for over a decade, including “Star Wars.” Combat for both lightsabers and blasters have been improved and the game features over 300 playable characters. Also, players can play through the movies in whatever order they like, with Episodes 8 and 9 being series firsts. Regardless of how you feel about certain entries, the game looks to be fun for “Stars Wars” fans of all ages.

If you’ve ever wanted to fight in fast-paced arena battles with “Star Wars” powers and abilities, this game might have your fix. Announced in 2018, “Star Wars: Hunters” is set after Episode VI and will throw players into multiplayer deathmatches. Players can choose from various new characters including Bounty Hunters, Imperial Stormtroopers, or even Sith. It’s being developed by mobile game giant Zynga and will launch sometime in 2022 for iOS and Android. What’s more exciting to us, however, is the fact that it will also launch on Nintendo Switch for free. While we’ve barely glimpsed any gameplay yet, it does look promising. If done right, “Hunters” could be a great multiplayer release.

10 Canceled Ubisoft Games We'll NEVER Get to Play

While we don’t know much about this one yet, it’s hard not to be excited by the prospect of an open-world “Star Wars” game. The project was announced in early 2021 and will be part of a long-term collaboration between Ubisoft, Disney, and Lucasfilm Games. As for the team behind it, Massive Entertainment is in the developer’s chair. The team has worked on “ Far Cry 3,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” and the upcoming “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.” Although details are obviously scarce, we’re ecstatic to see what the devs have to offer considering story-driven “Star Wars” games were largely absent for a while before “Jedi: Fallen Order.” Speaking of which…

“Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2” (TBA)

Following EA’s mishandling of the IP, we would've jumped at the opportunity to play any story-driven “Star Wars” game. But it’s a good thing “Jedi: Fallen Order” was as great as it was. Developer Respawn did a wonderful job at expanding the universe while also featuring awesome lightsaber combat. And Cal Kestis was an engaging new protagonist. During an earnings call last year, EA confirmed the game was the beginning of a new franchise. And it reaffirmed its dedication to the franchise earlier this year. While Respawn has also been hiring for a brand new single-player adventure, we hope that the team will have something to show off for the sequel very soon. Before we continue here are a couple of honorable mentions. While these games would undoubtedly be great to play, they are only rumored as of right now.

“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake” (TBA)

Gotham Knights vs Batman Arkham Series

“Knights of the Old Republic” is a quintessential “Star Wars” game. Set 4,000 years before the creation of the Empire, BioWare’s RPG has fantastic characters and an absolutely bonkers twist. But as it was originally released in 2003, some of its elements could likely do with a refresh. Rumors of a remake began to spread earlier this year before it was officially revealed during a PlayStation 5 showcase. Aspyr, who has ported many“Star Wars” games to modern consoles, is taking the reins here. It will be the latest in the trend of from-the-ground-up remakes, but it’s a game that definitely deserves it. Just be wary of spoilers.
