The 10 Most DISTURBING Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2
UFO Cult House
If you happen to be traveling northeast of Heartland Overflow, you might have happened upon a pretty unassuming and decaying house, but the true terror hides within. Once inside, the room is littered with bodies lying long dead in rows of beds with an altar at the head of the room. On the altar among other ritualist items, youll find a sermon scrawled on a piece of paper referencing Gods among the stars and their belief their God is coming to take them with him to the Promised Realm. Its likely the cult believed an alien ship was going to take them to another world and ritualistically ended their own lives believing it would allow them to ascend to the Promised Realm. Even stranger, if you return to the cabin at 2am as referenced in the note, a UFO craft WILL descend on the cabin! I want to believe. I want to believe
ManBearPig Lab
Up near the Van Horn Trading Post, it would seem someone has been trading a lot more than animal pelts. Inside a large boarded up two-story house which you can enter through a second story window, youll discover man made horrors beyond all comprehension. Inside amongst numerous other medical instruments and body parts stored in jars is a hideous Frankenstein creation strung up on the wall. Using parts of a bear, a boar, an eagle and numerous other creatures, whoever the mad scientist was clearly had a vision in mind, we just dont know fully what it was. Honestly, just thank God he didnt find a way to bring his creation to life, and we should probably leave before we get added to the list of creatures.
Pleasance
Despite its name, there is nothing pleasant about Pleasance. Despite having only just been founded, the entire town is abandoned and a massive graveyard within the town points to all the residents having been murdered in one gruesome way or another. All the buildings, homes and windows are boarded up and most are painted with the words Sinners Ill with sin and reference a plague that seems to have taken over the town. Stranger still is just outside the town, an enormous dead snake can be found in a tree, although its connection to the town has never been confirmed. While many players believe the town was founded by Satanists that worshipped the snake, which also explains why their church is the only one without a cross, and the local Christian communities murdered the residents, this has yet to be confirmed.
The Rhodes Gunsmiths Basement
Shops within Red Dead Redemption 2 tend to offer more than just goods and services and this is especially true for the Gunsmith shop in Rhodes. After a particular trip to the gunsmith for supplies, you might hear someone calling you from the basement of the shop. Peering inside, youll find a young man dressed in a sailor suit begging for the players help, claiming the gunsmith kidnapped him. After confronting the gunsmith, you find out he believes the young man is his dead son and kept the poor kid locked in his basement because he just refused to believe his son was gone. We would never condone kidnapping, but this is still sad, nonetheless.
Bolger Glade
Considering the Civil War had only concluded a few years earlier, there were still some areas that were destroyed by the many battles fought during the war, and one of these you can stumble across is Bolder Glade. Located east of Braithwaite Manor, the site still carries the scars of its many battles with numerous trenches and canons left scattered and abandoned. The site itself is unnerving as it is, but if you happen to visit the battlefield at night while its raining, you can hear the desperate ghostly calls of the many soldiers who lost their lives in a losing battle while their commander abandoned them to save himself.
Sonnys Cabin
North of San Denis, you might happen across a cabin with a friendly fellow lounging on his porch named Sonny. Hes an odd but overly friendly guy who claims to want nothing more than a friend. Do NOT, I repeat Do NOT, under any circumstances take him up on his invitation to join him inside. If you ignore the obvious warning signs and join him inside his cabin, Sonny will immediately knock you out. Only slightly regaining consciousness, Sonny taunts the player for resisting and after the sounds of belts being undone, its heavily implied Sonny did things to the player before dumping them in the woods. Its up to you on how to deal with Sonny after this, but we all know what should be done.
The Night Folk Swamp
Swamps are naturally creepy on their own with all the mosquitoes and alligators and oh yeah the vengeful occultists hiding within the fog and trees. Traveling at night through the swamp you might have had an unfortunate encounter with a group of supernaturally strong, fast and eerily silent people covered in markings attacking from the trees. Youll know the group is nearby by their calling cards: bodies hanging or strung up on trees in the area. Youll also be forced to confront the group head-on if you accept a mission from a stranger asking for help ridding the area of the murderous cult. We were actively trying to avoid these people, not travel into their home turf! No thanks! We choose life!
The Serial Killers Lair
It wouldnt be the Wild West without a serial killer to track down because of course there is. By finding the many mutilated bodies and following the clues left behind, players can eventually make their way to the lair of the serial killer and its every bit of the horrific nightmare you think it is. Walls lined with skulls and body parts, pieces of his manifesto, and a fresh corpse strung up for his next art showing, the lack of common sense screaming at you to get the hell out of there is the least of your problems. Whats worse, is the serial killer is still there, hiding in the shadows with machinations of making you his next victim. Thankfully, hes much better at attacking unsuspecting victims than he is in direct combat, and he can easily be turned over to the authorities who are just as equally incompetent at containing him.
The Braithwaites Outhouse
The Braithwaites are already immediately unlikeable, but the discovery of their dark secret makes them downright despicable. Located behind the main house, just off the property is an outhouse, chained and locked up. Peeking inside, youll find a disfigured girl ranting and raving and spouting all manner of obscenities. Gertrude Braithwaite, the daughter Catherine Braithwaite, developed mental issues as she got older and instead of getting her help, the Braithwaites locked her in a hut out of the public eye to not embarrass the family. The entire scenario is upsetting but even more so when you find out everyone in the family knows about the situation but does nothing to help Gertrude. When you return to the location later in the game as Arthur, you can find her remains inside, meaning the family completely abandoned her, leaving her to starve to death.
The Aberdeen Farm
Nothing is ever as it seems in the Wild West and the Aberdeen Pig Farm is a perfect encapsulation of that sentiment. What initially appears to be a friendly couple inviting the player in for dinner is immediately off-putting by the couples behavior, made even worse by the fact that youre drugged and dumped in a mass grave outside the farm if you partake in the drink offered to you. By investigating the house afterwards, you can discover the couple isnt a couple at all and are in fact brother and sister and murdered their overbearing mother, probably feeding her to the pigs. The couple then lure unsuspecting travelers into their home to rob them and likely worse so honestly, youre doing a public service by returning to the house and ridding the world of these two.
