7 Things You Should Know About 2010’s Aliens Vs. Predator It’s the highly anticipated and terrifying follow-up from Rebellion, the same studio behind the 1999 classic. Welcome to Watchmojo.com and today we’ll be exploring the 7 things you should know about 2010’s Aliens Vs. Predator. Number 1: The Plot The game takes place on the planet designated BG-386, where a colonial mining group discovers an ancient pyramid. Upon investigating the humans inadvertently free the galaxy’s deadliest Alien species, which has been trapped inside for a millennia. This causes an alarm beacon to summon the Predators, to the planet to eliminate the human tress-passers and neutralize the awakened aliens. Number 2: The Factions Reminiscent of the previous entry in the series, you will be able to take on the role of one of the franchise’s three rival species. Depending on which faction you choose, Colonial Marines, Predators or Aliens; the game will unfold in its own distinct way, with a storyline that cleverly interweaves your path with that of the other two species. As such, players will get the weapons and abilities of the side they choose in an epic three-way fight for survival. Number 3: The Colonial Marines Your first choice, the human campaign is the most traditional of the three, as it plays like a standard first-person shooter. In the role of a Colonial Marine you will be armed with standard weapons choices, such as a pistol and shotgun, as well as the series’ iconic pulse rifle, flame thrower and motion tracker. Interestingly, cut-scenes will all be presented through a first person perspective, as not to break up the suspense, with your goal being to simply survive long enough to flee the planet. Number 4: The Predators A popular choice for players will be that of the Predators. Unlike the humans, the Predators hardly ever allow themselves to become the prey as they are able to leap from tree to tree and use their invisibility cloak. Predators also have long-range weaponry, though they rely on their blade weapons due to their preference for stealth. As the predator you will experience the story through overhearing the dialogue between frightened Colonial Marines. Number 5: The Aliens Unlike the other two factions, The Alien campaign will force players to dwell in the darkness in order to sneak up on their prey. As such, the Alien will be the most interesting character to control, as they can climb any available surface and attack using their claws, jaws and spear-like tail. A distinct advantage that Aliens have over predators is their ability to detect them when cloaked, due to their reliance on their vast array of senses. Number 6: Character Balance and Trophy Kills In order to balance the abilities of the three factions, the Predator will make limited use of his overwhelmingly powerful shoulder-mounted Plasma cannon. To ensure players don’t abuse any this weapon, players will have to strategically balance the power-ups they find to either recharge their health or weapons. And, as a new addition to the series, players will be able to take trophies from their prey, just like the Predators do in the movies. These special Kills involve ripping apart enemies with the Predators hand-mounted blades. Number 7: Multiplayer The online battles feature a unique 3-way “rock, paper, scissors” multiplayer experience. Players will fight for one of the three factions with the choice of several of the usual death-match choices, in addition to 2 unique and terrifying modes called Survivor and Infestation. In Survivor, you play one of four marines that must fight waves of Aliens as they descend on your location. To survive, you will have to help the other players and try and conserve your ammo. In Infestation, every player will spawn as a marine, with the exception of one who will play the role of the Alien. With each kill he makes, marines will transform into Aliens until the last marine standing gets killed.
