10 Most Anticipated Switch 2 Games

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, were taking a look at the 10 Nintendo Switch 2 games we are most excited to play!

Hades II (TBA)

When it launched in 2020, Hades found massive success almost instantly despite only initially being available on Switch and PC. It quickly became Supergiant Gamess magnum opus as it eventually found its way to other platforms months later. That alone is why so many of us are looking forward to Hades II. After spending some time with the Early Access version available on PC, were excited to see the game is going to be more or less the same as the first game, but with new, fresh ideas. New weapons, new characters, a new story, new Boons to experiment with for new builds - its all everything weve been hoping for so far. No release date has been given at the time of this video, though we wouldnt be surprised if Hades II makes an official launch before the end of 2025, if not sometime in 2026.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (2025)

The Final Fantasy Tactics games have gone largely ignored by Square Enix for a long, long time. The last game we saw was Final Fantasy Tactics S in 2013, which has long since been shutdown. Every other version has been the original game with a few bells and whistles to spiffy things up. Well, The Ivalice Chronicles is yet another version of the original that plans to tack on bells and whistles. Nevertheless, were excited because of two reasons. Firstly, it gives us another excuse to play Final Fantasy Tactics. Secondly, its another PS1 classic being preserved for modern hardware in some fashion, which means it can garner a new playerbase for anyone to visit or revisit. You can expect this remaster to drop on September 30, 2025.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion (2025)

Daemon X Machina is one of a handful of Switch exclusives that doesnt get talked about enough. Developed by Japanese developer and publisher Marvelous, Daemon X Machina was a game where players piloted their own mech to fight a wide variety of enemies. According to Marvelous themselves, sales were very well on Switch, though wed be curious to see how well sales were overseas. Regardless, were getting a sequel to this game with Titanic Scion, and it looks to be just as kickass in visuals, style, and combat as its predecessor was. You wont have to wait too long for it - Daemon X Machine: Titanic Scion launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms on September 5, 2025.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam (2025)

The good Professor has been away for a long, long time, and a lot has happened since 2012s crossover with Ace Attorney. Laytons daughter got her very own game released for Switch and 3DS in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The lead puzzle designer of the series, Akira Tago, passed away in 2016 (may he rest in peace). And puzzle games as a whole have quietly receded into the shadows of AAA and AA gaming. But from what little weve seen of Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, this looks like the revival weve been desperate for. No release date has been given, but developer and publisher Level-5 seems certain on meeting its 2025 window.

Kirby Air Riders (2025)

Of all the Kirby spin-offs weve seen over the past few decades, there has been this fervor around Kirby Air Ride that refuses to die. Despite only ever being released on GameCube, Kirby Air Ride has become a timeless classic for those who grew up with a GameCube, and for good reason. The simple control scheme made it easy for anyone to jump in and compete at a moments notice. But once you start getting into every vehicles unique mechanics and the chaos of City Trial, the game suddenly becomes a bit deeper than it initially led on. And with Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai back in the fray to lead the project, Kirby Air Riders might wind up becoming one of the best games of the year as well as one of the best Switch 2 games of the year.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (2025)

While there isnt a new traditional Zelda on the way anytime soon (as far as we know), there is a new Hyrule Warriors approaching quickly. Age of Imprisonment is set to release sometime during Winter 2025. (SoDecember, we suppose.) Not much is known about the game, but if you havent played either of the two previous Hyrule Warriors games, we insist you do as soon as possible. Not only are these games great love letters to The Legend of Zelda, they also boast fun playstyles between all of the characters while incorporating the fun gameplay loop of Dynasty Warriors. So far, the only thing we know about Age of Imprisonment is that it takes place somewhere around the events of Tears of the Kingdom. That said, well probably get more information once launch day is closer.

The Duskbloods (2026)

This is perhaps one of the biggest games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. We arent just saying that because half of the MojoPlays team are FromSoftware fans either. This is a huge deal because The Duskbloods is a FromSoftware game being made exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. Now, theres a pro and a con to this games existence. The pro is that this seems to be a spiritual successor to Bloodborne, which has not aged gracefully as time has marched forward. The con to The Duskbloods - and its a big one that has us deeply concerned - is that its a FromSoftware game being made for a Nintendo console. FromSoftware games have had a reputation for not always being technically sound at launch, and Dark Souls Remastered was a prime example of that when that was released for the first Switch. Were eager to try The Duskbloods, but were also hoping that FromSoftware can get this game running smoothly even if it comes at the cost of a lower frame rate.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A (2025)

Its no secret that fan morale for Pokemon is at an all-time low considering how the franchise suffered from all kinds of technical problems throughout the Switch 1 generation. However, Pokemon Legends: Arceus was a step in the right direction for where the series should go with its real-time combat and immersive world. That is why were super amped for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, especially when it was revealed to be coming to Switch 2. Well finally be able to experience a better optimized and more lively Pokemon game than we have in a long time, and likely with more refined combat and controls. Pokemon Legends: Z-A launches for both Switch consoles on October 17, 2025, but you know which version is worth getting.

Donkey Kong Bananza (2025)

This might wind up being the biggest game of the Switch 2s first year on the market (wellMario Kart World notwithstanding). This is what many are calling Donkey Kongs own Mario Odyssey as DK will be exploring massive worlds to collect precious Banandium ores just as Mario explored the world to collect Power Moons. However, the main draw of Bananza is the focus on environmental destruction. Donkey Kong will be able tear chunks of rocks and minerals out to destroy parts of the world, create new structures, or even reach hidden areas. The wait isnt much longer - Donkey Kong Bananza will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, 2025. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (2025Maybe?)

Of all the games coming to Switch 2, this is the one we are most excited for! Even though Samus herself has seen a couple of new games between Samus Returns on 3DS and Dread on Switch, there has been an intense hunger for the old Metroid Prime series. This was Metroid reinvented as an FPS, and it worked incredibly well with its creative level design and enemy variety. However, Metroid Prime 4 specifically has a lot riding on it as it has been stuck in development hell for an unbelievably long time, and Nintendo hasnt shown much of it. Although, with all the new, young staff slowly taking over Nintendo HQ and putting out banger titles, we have no reason to believe this will be anything less than great.
