The 10 HARDEST Levels in Super Mario Bros. Wonder

The 10 HARDEST Levels in Super Mario Bros. Wonder
VOICE OVER: Ty Richardson WRITTEN BY: Ty Richardson
Mario's latest 2D adventure has no shortages of challenges for players to master! For this video we're taking a look at the 10 most difficult levels in “Super Mario Bros. Wonder”! Our list includes KnuckleFest! Bowser's Blasting Beats, Jump! Jump! Jump!, Deep Magma Bog Flying Battleship, The Final Battle! Bowser's Rage Stage, The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon.

Fluff-Puff Peaks Palace

Fluff-Puff Peaks Palace isn’t as grueling as the other levels we’ll be covering here in a bit. Granted, it isn’t a pushover either. Sure, you’ll have to deal with a good number of Hammer Bros and Dry Piranha Plants that can waddle into you. However, the fight with Bowser Jr. is why we’re calling this as one of the first hard levels. Upon triggering his own Wonder Flower effects, the floor changes into a sticky goop that can make running and jumping a hassle. Luckily, a good Elephant Fruit will come in handy to make his shell attacks a joke.

KnuckleFest! Bowser’s Blasting Beats

The course isn’t called “KnuckleFest” for giggles. Prepare to run from a lot of big Bowser fists, and there are A LOT of big Bowser fists! Not only that, you will also have to make use of platforms that only move when you land on them. Expectedly, certain jumps and pressure will affect how far the platforms move. It all ends with an intense performance where Bowser’s fiery fists are timed to the beat of the music. Had they not thrown in homing Bullet Bills, we probably would have got through this with no problems.

A Final Uncharted Area: Poison Ruins

Poison stages have had a notorious reputation among Mario fans ever since the “New Super Mario Bros.” era of 2D Mario games. These levels are often the most annoying because of weird enemies, auto-scrolling levels, and meticulously placed collectibles. That’s pretty much the same spiel for the Poison Ruins course in “Mario Wonder”. The first half sees a toxic river rising up as you try to jump up and trigger flowers to reveal your path. Then, you have the Wonder Flower effect of turning into a slime for the second half, which makes for some tricky and trippy traversal. Don’t rush it - remember that there is no time limit going against you!

Jump! Jump! Jump!

Though it is located in Fluff-Puff Peaks, its place in the second world does not lessen how hard it truly is. Jump Jump Jump might be the first level in the game most would describe as difficult. For this course, you will need to run and jump as blocks appear and disappear along with the music. Thing is that this is not like the beat blocks seen in “3D World” or “Galaxy 2”. Once these blocks disappear, there is no backpedaling! Every jump needs to be precise. One misalignment or one second of slow movement can result in your death. And make sure you aren’t using any badges that affect your jump.

Dragon Boneyard

For some, Dragon Boneyard can be as ghastly as the course’s name. In this level, you are almost constantly having to move as you try not to fall off the spinning dragon bones. It gets even tougher once you’ve triggered the Wonder Flower as one dragon will spring back to life to take you to the real flagpole. However, he does have a tendency to spin around a lot, so make sure you can time your jumps and not spring into a panic so easily.

The battleship levels have always served as brutal gauntlets to sprinkle in between normal levels and Fortress levels. Of the battleship levels in “Wonder”, the one in Deep Magma Bog is going to be a tough one. The homing Mechakoopas are one thing, and they are easy to deal with thanks to their slow movement. But then you have flamethrowers that need to have handles pulled to temporarily subside them. And later on, the Wonder Flower will bring forth Bowser to blast you to bits, and he is way more aggressive than his encounters in previous Battleship levels!

Evade the Seeker Bullet Bills

We have seen our fair share of gruesome stages where Bullet Bills are flying from every direction. “Super Mario World” and “Lost Levels” spring to mind. “Mario Wonder” takes it up a notch by giving us a new kind of Bullet Bill to fear: the Seeker Bullet Bills! These guys will target you in almost an instant, and even if it misses, it will simply stick itself onto whatever surface it hits and fire again. What’s worse is that much larger variants will appear later on. Best make sure your reflexes are on point!

The Final Battle! Bowser’s Rage Stage

Well, of course the final course would be on here. It’s the final course! Why would this be a cakewalk? Bowser’s Rage Stage is quite literally a rage stage. In here, Wonder effects happen every so often, making it difficult to anticipate the next obstacle or enemy. In fact, just about every Wonder effect you’ve seen before will pop up here alongside other effects. As for the final bout with Bowser, it is by far one of the hardest duels with the Koopa King we have had to endure. Make sure you have an extra power-up handy for this one.

Special World

For the most part, the main six worlds of the Flower Kingdom can be challenging but doable. For those wanting that difficulty cranked beyond ten, Special World will give you a run for your money. No, we are not naming any specific courses here because every level in Special World is incredibly tough to beat. It is Special World, after all. If you absolutely want to fully conquer “Mario Wonder” and acquire every single Wonder Seed in the game, you will have to endure courses like Bounce Bounce Bounce, Way of the Goomba, and Wonder Gauntlet. However, there is one course that is so obscenely difficult that it demands an entry of its own…

The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon

Not only is it the final course in Special World, it is the ultimate test in your knowledge of “Mario Wonder”. The Final Final Test Badge Marathon will, as the name implies, force you to utilize every single major badge in the game to reach the end of the course. Understanding their core mechanics isn’t going to save you, though. You will need to execute some pretty tricky maneuvers. Conquer this stage, and you will truly understand what it means to be undeniably wonderful. What do you think is the hardest level in “Super Mario Bros. Wonder”? Did it make our list?
