10 Hardest Bosses in TMNT Games

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we’re counting down our picks for the ten hardest bosses in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” games.

The Four Generals

“TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2007)

While 2007’s “TMNT” might not be as lauded as other titles in the Turtles’ lineup, it’s still got plenty of fun and plenty of challenge. We opted to lump the final battle in the game against the Four Generals together since each battle takes place in the same arena, one right after the other. The Generals – Gato, Mono, Serpiente, and Aguila – might not be too bad on their own; they can easily bring the pain as you move from one to the next. Each General has their own unique attacks and abilities which means you need to tap in other turtles to keep you prepared for anything they throw at you. It can all feel a bit clunky but it’s still a challenging final battle that will test your “TMNT” prowess.

Slash

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time” (1991)

The prehistoric battle against this brawny, brash, and spikey turtle might be quite short, but it’s no less challenging. Sometimes the shortest fights are actually the toughest. Slash is difficult because he is incredibly nimble and can quickly dart about the small boss area with ease, quickly evading your attacks, no matter which Turtle you play as. Due to his speed, he often feels inconsistent, making it hard to decipher his boss patterns. The key here is to track his quick movements and then lay down a few smacks and hits of your own until his life bar gets whittled away.

Krang

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game” (1989)

Whether you are playing the arcade version or the NES version of this game, this lumbering brute will give you a run for your money. Sure it might move slowly around the boss arena, but his various attacks can stun you and damage you easily if you aren’t careful. Plus, the way Krang tracks your every move means you can barely get away from him, despite his slow speed. Oh, and he takes a ridiculous amount of hits to actually put down. Good luck!

Leatherhead

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project” (1991)

This reptilian bozo might look like a goofball but he’s certainly not playing around. As if the sewers aren’t dank and dangerous enough, you now have to contend with Leatherhead. He’s downright dangerous as he moves about thwipping you with his tail swipes and blasting you with shotgun blasts over and over again, with nary a break in sight. It can be so hard to dodge him given how quick he is with his attacks. Just never stop moving. Easy, right?

Karai

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters” (1993)

Who would have pegged a TMNT fighting game to be super duper challenging? Well, such is the case here, especially when duking it out against Karai. This final baddie is no joke. Her relentless AI leaves you little time to react or come up with a plan. She moves quickly, she attacks hard, and she can block with ease. Your health bar can deplete without you even knowing it. Only the truly patient and resilient will survive against Karai.

Super Shredder

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time” (1991)

That’s right, it’s Shredder – but this time he is super. He’s so super and radical that he goes by Shred now. Cowabunga dude! Okay, sorry about that. Seriously though, this Super Saiyan version of Shredder may be a short fight but he can easily mop the floor with you as the Statue of Liberty looks on in disappointment at you. Whether he is zipping about the arena with his teleport-like ability or spamming flame attacks at you, Shred is here to prove that he is indeed super!

Bebop & Rocksteady

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge” (2022)

“Shredder’s Revenge” might be more tame compared to other past “TMNT” titles; however, Bebop and Rocksteady do their darndest to ruin the Turtles’ day. While this may not be on the level of something like Ornstein and Smough when it comes to tag-team boss battles, there’s still a lot to focus on here, especially if you are playing through this game solo. Bebop and Rocksteady each have their own moves, abilities, and attacks; with each character constantly moving about the screen. Obviously defeating one of them first will give you better odds but it’s never easy to do that since the boss battle oftentimes just feels like a bullet hell game as they shoot at you from across the arena. These two best pals may seem like grade A clowns; but make no mistake about it, they can easily lay the smackdown if you aren’t careful.

Tokka

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project” (1991)

Tokka? More like what a joke, huh? Eh, Eh? Ya…that was terrible. I’d see myself out if I didn’t still have more entries to chat about. Okay, okay – all silliness aside, Tokka is essentially a walking, talking tank; a brutish behemoth that looks like he would move slowly, but can quickly close the distance with his power walk and his lunge attack. Seriously, this guy is wild. He takes like a million hits to take down and you never know what he is going to do next.

Technodrome

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (1989)

A short but painful fight this one is. Apart from having to deal with the infamously challenging Technodrome stage itself, you then have to deal with this tank-like monstrosity. Seriously, the Technodrome is no joke. Its gargantuan size blended with its electricity attacks, its projectile attacks, and the fact that tons of goons pop out of it to lay waste to you means that you need to stay nimble and on the defensive at all times. Just try to get a hit or two when you can and you should hopefully come out as the victor.

Shredder

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters” (1993)

It honestly kinda feels like Shredder can read your input commands given how intense his AI seems to be. It almost seems unfair…almost. April ‘O Neil has been captured, the Foot Clan are cheering from the sidelines, and Shredder is ready to…well…shred you to pieces. He is particularly troublesome in this game since he swiftly combines jump attacks and lunge attacks, giving you little to no time to react and plan accordingly. Plus, he seems to block almost all of your attacks. Persist, however, and you will eventually best this big baddie.
