Where there is smoke, there's fire. No Smoke is ultimately about patience and poise under stress and oppression — it's about protecting one's sanity and integrity when you're being pushed to the limit. The beat bangs on this dark fiery anthem and Emile bellows his resolve with anger and suave. Released on April 1, 2021, the flow's delivery and intention are no laughing matter. The vertical-only visuals weave together moral failure, police violence and ecological disaster while the lyrics subtly address systemic injustice, inequality and an appeal to a spiritual authority for patience.
Emile performs the verse in Rap while his soulful chorus rings out in a raspy Reggae cadence.
No Smoke chooses non-violent resistance over violence that we all have the capacity for. Emile channels powerful emotions of frustration and anger toward exploitation into a battle cry for resistance.
