If you’re looking for real life fashion inspiration, pack your bags and let’s go. Welcome to MsMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 5 Cities With the BEST Street Style.

For this list, we’re looking at those metropolitan centers that offer the freshest, most inspired street fashion.

#5: London, England

While other European capitals are generally known for their elegance and class, London stands out for its sense of fun. The fashion scene in London is dominated by youth and that’s reflected in the types of outfits you’re likely to see while wandering the city. What sets street style in London apart is a willingness to break the rules by mixing bold colors and patterns, and wearing high street finds mixed with higher end items. London will always be tied to the original punk movement, with the influence of designers like Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood continuing to reign supreme.

#4: Milan, Italy

Many of fashion’s most high-end houses are located in Milan, including Dolce and Gabbana, Prada and Versace. And so naturally, this glamorous aesthetic has trickled down to include the street-level fashionista. The look in Milan is classic, with edgy elements that make it anything but boring. Luxurious fabrics, a neutral color palette and structured silhouettes dominate the scene. The Milan woman isn’t afraid to be bold or to wear dramatic high fashion pieces on an everyday basis. Both men and women dress to the nines in Milan, putting their famed leather, fur and wool on display.

#3: Tokyo, Japan

We’re leaving the cobblestone streets of Europe and heading to modernist Japan where things are a little bit different. Tokyo’s Fashion week may not rank among the “Big Four”, but the city has made a name for itself with its revolutionary street style. Americans have been taking inspiration from Japanese culture for years, but this fashion forward city doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. With so many different subcultures, it’s hard to pin down one signature look... but you can be sure it’ll be colorful, daring, eye-catching and undeniably distinct.

#2: Paris, France

When you think of high fashion, you probably think of Paris. The City of Light is home to Chanel, Hermes, and that elusive “French girl” style. The magical thing about French street style is the women’s ability to simultaneously look perfectly put together but never like they’re trying too hard. Parisian street style is on-trend but easy, elegant but carefree. The pieces always appear to be flawlessly tailored and the colors never clash. Of course, there are the typical Breton stripes and ballet flats... but there are also more modern trends in the mix.

#1: New York City, USA

It seems like the motto in New York is “go bold or go home.” New Yorkers are known worldwide for being at the forefront of fashion. And unsurprisingly, they’ve kicked off quite a few trends of their very own. Whether it’s fashion week or any other day of year, residents will be rocking enviable styles that people the world over will try to replicate. Inspired by grunge, graffiti art, hip-hop and more, there’s always an eclectic mix at play in this city’s crowds. The only look you won’t catch fashionable New Yorkers trying out is a conventional one - they’re either on the cutting edge, or boldly stepping beyond to start something new.
