We get M Knight Shyamalan diversifying the cast and including East Indian actors but the source material already has a great variety of cultures to portray in film. Replacing the Fire Nation's Japanese sources doesn't really make sense, and whitewashing the water tribes adds insult to injury

Shyamalan's idea to honor the original Asian pronunciation of character names probably seemed like a good idea at the time but at this point everyone already had grown used to the cartoon's pronunciation and this made it all the more off putting
