This is the entire Dark Knight Trilogy in one line. In every film, the heroes face the concept of fear. Fears that they have to overcome in order to defeat the villains. In fact, Bruce Wayne must conquer his fear in order to climb out of the pit in The Dark Knight Rises.

The trilogy didn't have a whole lot of Alfred character development. This is one scene that did have some character development. Like the comic book, Knightfall, Alfred refuses to watch Bruce Wayne get killed at the hands of Bane. He pours his heart and soul out to Bruce but is balked by him, so he leaves. This quote had to be in the top 10.
