Taking photos isn’t always a snap, here are some tips to gather more likes
Lining up that perfect shot isnât easy. Breathtaking photos on Instagram may be #nofilter, but they still require a ton of effort. Whether itâs patience for a shot of wildlife or snapping a few thousand photos to get the perfect look, youâll need the tools, skills, and know-how to pull off a shot that mesmerizes. Luckily there are photography classes like those from the Hollywood Art Institute that can help you hone your technique and instruct you on best practices. Here are some tips that the pros have given out:
Be sure to focus!
While seeming to be common sense, a lot of photos end up being too cluttered with background details. This drains the shot of its energy. When youâre photographing an object, try blurring the background to force the audience to focus on the foreground subject; when snapping a portrait, be sure that the eyes are the focal point.
Remain steady
Weâve all had a great shot turn out to be blurry because of a slight jerking motion or misstep. Itâs perfectly normal to have some wobble even when standing still, but that doesnât make the photo look better! Try putting the camera on a stand like a tripod, or if that isnât available, on some other steady object. If none of that is available, use one hand to hold the camera and the other to hold the lens while bracing your legs. This will help reduce your natural sway.
Try a new angle
A lot of folks see the world from roughly five to six feet above the ground, and so thatâs how they take photos. That, however, can get stale. When youâre looking to add a little something to your shot try moving the camera vertically. A shot taken from above or below may change the meaning of the photo and give viewers a new perspective.
