TOASTY!
While we have only been given a sneak peak of Mortal Kombat 11, it’s quite clear that Netherrealm Studios are really pushing the gore factor this time around. After all, the one minute trailer managed to cram in all manner of bloody blows, along with the hellish sight of Scorpion unleashing his own flaming version of the Flying Thunder God. One can only hope that some of these classic finishing moves find their way back to the screen when the Kombat commences anew!
#5: Kung Laoâs Hat Slice
âMortal Kombat 2â (1993)
Kung Laoâs hat is one deadly weapon you donât want to mess with, in Mortal Kombat 2 its shown to sharp and tough enough to slice through an entire human body from head to toe, leaving the victim in meaty pieces. Seems pulling out rabbits isnât the only trick he can do with that sucker, as he draws some nefty inspiration from James Bond for this one. Besides that, Lao also uses his hat like a circular blade to draw his victim slowly towards it. Creative.Â
#4: Liu Kangâs Dragon
âMortal Kombat 2â (1993)
After sporting the worst fatality in the first Mortal Kombat game. Liu Kang, going into Mortal Kombat 2, had one neat little party trick this time around when he turned into a freaking dragon! As awesome as it is one has to wonder: why wouldnâtâ he use that as an opener? Â
#3: Quan Chiâs Leg Beatdown
âMortal Kombat 4â (1997)
The ultimate form of brutal humiliation, Quan Chi rips his victimâs leg out of its socket, and starts smashing him relentlessly with it. Furthermore, In Mortal Kombat 9, the guy hits you with your own leg so hard that your head explodes. It sure does bring a whole new meaning to the term âStop hitting yourself.âÂ
#2: Noob Saibotâs Make a Wish
âMortal Kombat 9â (2011)
Our male viewers may want to cross their legs for this entry. Noob Saibot, along with his shadow clone, is able to pull off the most painful looking fatality in the franchise, aach grabbing a leg and pulling their opponent apart with their insides spilling out below them. You do not want to be on the receiving end of this.Â
#1: Sub Zeroâs Spine Rip
âMortal Kombat 1â (1992)
Taking the number 1 spot is the most infamous fatality of all, Ripping off your opponentâs head with their spine still dangling is more than just a stylized decapitation. In Mortal Kombatâs early days this was shown as the prime example of the gameâs violence, which lead to the birth of the ESRB ratings system. Thatâs right, this is the seminal act of videogame violence, the backbone of virtual gore, if you will. Â
