Now That’s What You Call A Brutality

When the likes of Scorpion, Sub-Zero and the rest made their grand return back in 2011, not only did they breath new life into the classic fighting franchise, but also brought along a whole host of new and bloody treats for longtime fans. The fatalities were truly a sight for sore eyes, along with the surprising inclusion of a well-rounded and investing narrative. Of course, the one mechanic that has since become a beloved staple is the use of X-Rays; moves that allow the player to see exactly what bones they are destroying in real-time. Some were so visceral that they even gave some of the finishers a run for their money!

Every character gets a chance to shine with these vicious displays of bone-crunching awesomeness, but which ones truly made players wince upon first viewing?

#3: Sektor

Swift and brutal, this robotic ninja makes full use of his new form in order to deal some crippling damage. Teleporting through the floor to deliver a rocket-powered uppercut is all well and good, but what really stands out is how he charges up his other hand to deliver a palm strike that cracks the entirety of his foes’s spine. We’re not sure they’re getting up after a beatdown like that.

#2: Erron Black

Mortal Kombat X’s slick new addition, this Outworld assassin might just be the greatest gunslinger in all of the realms, especially if he can pull off a move like this. With a single bullet (that just so happens to have his target’s name engraved on it) he manages to fire it in such a way that it ricochets all throughout the body of his foe, bursting through more than a few bones along the way.

#1: Cassie Cage

The one that caused the entire male demographic to cry out in horror. Taking inspiration from her father’s famous “crotch punch” technique, Cassie takes it a step further by punching her opponent so hard that it causes their genitalia to explode. If that wasn’t bad enough, she then caves in their skull with the handles of her pistols, all before unleashing two rounds right into their eyes. Honestly, we’d rather take Scorpion’s spear over that!
