Romantic interests in video games have certainly evolved in recent years. Compatibility, key decisions and various other obstacles ensure that players have to work hard on their wooing skills in order to earn the affections of their one true virtual love. Of course, even this trend has been challenged in certain games, with some characters turning out to be full-on black widows.

Complex in their wants and manipulative to the end, you may want to think twice about romancing these three ladies unless you are prepare to lose something precious.

#3: Morrigan
“Dragon Age: Origins” (2009)

While she would go on to find redemption and evolve as a character in Inquisition, it certainly wasn’t that way in the beginning. In her debut, the Witch of the Wilds managed to steal the heart of the Grey Warden, and for a moment it seemed like true love was on the horizon. While certain choices unveil that she does pine for a happy ending, her decision to secure the soul of an Old God into her own child remains absolute. If you refuse her, then the Warden had no means of escaping death. If you accept, then she will flee with the Warden’s child. If you exclude the sequels, her actions don’t paint her in the most positive light.

#2: Citra
“Far Cry 3” (2012)

This is what happens when you choose bumping hips over saving your friends’ lives. Should players make the decision to slice the throat of our hero’s former girlfriend, they are rewarded with Citra’s undying affection, including a naked romp atop a temple. At least until she places a dagger in his chest mid-coitus. While she may have truly loved Jason deep down, she certainly didn’t hesitate to ritualistically end him at the height of his glory.

#1: Morinth
“Mass Effect 2” (2010)

The daughter of crew-member Samara, this Asari spends her nights frequenting clubs, seducing the occupants and then killing them with sheer ecstasy. Romancing her as literally playing with fire, so we’re not sure what players expected when they decided to pursue her. She’s killed hundreds for her pleasure, including her own mother, why wouldn’t she kill Shepard if approached? It’s a fitting ending for those that tried to get jiggy with an Ardat-Yakshi!
