Throughout its first two seasons, Stranger Things easily became one of the most buzz-worthy programs on Netflix. The show’s success can be largely attributed to its rich mythology, nostalgic throwbacks, and pitch perfect acting ensemble. The cast actually won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in 2016. So it only makes sense that the stars are getting huge pay raises for Season 3.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) previous made $100,000 an episode while David Harbour (Jim Hopper) had a per-episode deal of $80,000. The two adult performers will now receive $350,000 per episode, but Netflix hasn’t forgotten about the kids. Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), and Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) are each getting bumped from $20,000 to $250,000 an episode, almost twelve times more than what they were making before. Meanwhile, teenage actors like Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) are scoring about $150,000 per episode.
One thing that remains unclear is how much 14-year-old Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) will be making. The report suggests that Brown is receiving the same amount as her fellow young co-stars at the very least. Being the resident scene-stealer and face of the show, however, it’s also possible that Brown will be making even more than Ryder and Harbour, assuming Netflix isn’t just paying her in waffles.
The report also made no mention of 15-year-old actress Sadie Sink, who joined the cast in Season 2 as Max Mayfield, aka Madmax. Being the new kid on the block, will Sink get the same pay raise as the other child actors?
Netflix has yet to announce the release date for the third season of Stranger Things, although it will consist of eight episodes. So if you do the math, the kids could bring in $2 million each for the third season alone. Meanwhile, Ryder, Harbour, and possibly even Brown could make almost $3 million.
