Fox will be airing a never before seen O.J. Simpson interview with publisher Judith Regan that took place in 2006. During the interview, Simpson hypothesized how he could have committed the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. This would eventually lead to the 2007 best-selling novel, If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer. The interview itself went unaired as the Fox Network clashed with affiliates. Now almost a decade later, it’ll finally see the light of day.
This two-hour special will be called O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession? and is set to air on March 11 at 8 p.m. Good thing the NBA Finals aren’t on that night! Hosted by Soledad O’Brien, the special is going to feature actual footage of Simpson’s original conversation with Regan. Fox had this to say in a statement:
“For over a decade, the tapes of that infamous interview were lost — until now. Simpson’s explosive words finally will be heard, as he answers the questions that gripped a nation during the notorious ‘Trial of the Century.’â€
Occurring between June 1994 and October 1995, the O.J. Simpson murder case took the world by storm. The former NLF star has been in and out of the media’s eye since he was found not guilty of murder, a verdict the court of public opinion widely disagreed with. Simpson would find himself behind bars in 2008 following a robbery case, although he was granted parole and released in 2017. The Trial of the Century has seen a resurgence of popularity in recent years with the Emmy-winning limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and the Oscar-winning documentary O.J.: Made in America. So there’s little doubt that O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession? will also have viewers glued to the T.V.
