Is Batfleck Leaving The DCEU After Suicide Squad 2?

The Dark Knight Falls

Ben Affleck’s time as the Caped Crusader has been an interesting one, to say the least. While everyone initially thought the Argo star and director would make for a terrible Batman, he ended up being the best thing in every DCEU flick. Who would have thought?

His gravitas as the Dark Knight and grizzled charisma and Bruce Wayne was very much welcomed, its just a shame the material he had to work with was so sub-par. Now it seems that the veteran actor is looking to leave the world of superheroes behind a little sooner than expected, and if rumours are to be believed it might even be in a cameo role.

According to an article on IGN –

According to Batman-On-Film, it’s now looking likely Affleck’s last stint as the Dark Knight may come in the Suicide Squad sequel rather than in Flashpoint, as reported last year. With Justice League’s underwhelming box office performance, it’s currently unknown if Flashpoint will get made, according to the site.

It’s also worth noting Affleck has worked with Suicide Squad 2 director Gavin O’Connor before on 2016’s The Accountant, and had a brief cameo appearance in the first Suicide Squad movie. However, it’s not known just how big of a role Affleck’s Batman will have in the sequel, which is reportedly scheduled to begin filming in October of this year.

It may not exactly be the graceful exit he’s been seeking, but lets hope that if it is Batfleck’s final outing that he will at least get to go out with a bang. Perhaps fight the entire Suicide Squad this time? Have at least one scene with the Joker? Or maybe he’ll just have another conversation with Amanda Waller and call it a day.
