UFO 'Proof', Yukon Denies the D & Zombie Cats: The Dispatch Ep. 12

Yukon blocking the D, UFO documents undead kitties! Just because you don’t need to know about these stories, doesn’t mean they won’t interest you. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and this is The Dispatch, where we bring you the Internet’s weirdest and coolest stories! This week we’re looking at the Yukon’s campaign that nobody understood, CIA X-Files and grave-swapping cats.

#3: Yukon Social Media Gold

When was the last time you got some solid D? The Yukon - a sun deprived, cold territory in Canada - wants to know. It sounds like a personal question, but the Yukon is talking about Vitamin D. A recent health campaign rolled out by the Department of Health and Social Services posed questions like “how do you do the D” and “need a little help with your daily D?” as a marketing tactic to target the internet-dwelling smart alecks of our generation that were ready to fire back with mocking internet comments, clearly not getting the joke. The campaign had Twitter all atwitter, with users mocking the seemingly out-of-touch nature of the ads. The response from social media escalated so quickly in the wrong direction though that the ad had to be replaced with something less cheeky. Regardless of the outcome, it was a rare case of the government out-internetting its populace. Well played, Yukon.

#2: CIA Bares All

In news that would surprise even Mulder and Scully, the CIA has highlighted a trove of documents to their website welcoming people to “take a peek into our X-files.” The documents – originally released in the pre-internet era - chronicle investigations on 50’s era UFO sightings, including photos and written reports. Taking after the bona fide masters of countdowns (ahem), the information was categorized into two top 5 lists; Top 5 Documents Mulder Would Love to Get His Hands On and Top 5 CIA Documents Scully Would Love To Get Her Hands On. They were uploaded in celebration of the long awaited return of The X Files, however we have no doubt Mulder and Scully are capable of digging a bit deeper for their information than www.cia.gov.

#1: Zombie Kitties

I love my cat just as much as the next guy. Or should I say, just as much as the Internet loves cats. So, what better way to mourn your cat than with a play-by-play Tweet-stream? That’s exactly what Labour Party member Matt Strong from Chorlton-cum-Hardy, England, did. “Sad to say goodbye to my friend Gus who was involved in a hit and run,” tweeted Strong, later adding “and if you drove a silver Golf and didn’t bother to stop after hitting him, then you really are a scumbag.” Strong buried the cat in his garden, but with a plot twist M. Night Shyamalan would be proud of, his cat walked into his kitchen a few hours later. Guys, Gus was fine all along! “Well this is awkward” he later tweeted, saying that he had someone else’s cat buried in his garden. Looks like the cat’s outta the grave on this one. But seriously, R.I.P. mystery cat.

So, whens the last time you got the D? Vitamin D, sickos.
