Top 10 Huge REVEALS From D23
#10: The Second “Simpsons Movie” Gets a Title
For nearly 18 years, fans repeatedly asked Matt Groening when they would see a “Simpsons” movie. After they finally got it in 2007, Groening was confronted with another question: when are we gonna get another “Simpsons” movie? We received an update in September 2025, when a sequel was officially announced. Initially slated for July 23, 2027, the release was subsequently pushed back to September 3. In the D23 pavilion, the sequel’s title was unveiled. The new “Simpsons” movie is being called… “The New Simpsons Movie.” We’re sensing a trend between “Spaceballs: The New One” and now this. Footage revealed Homer at a baseball stadium, leading to a chase that stretches across Springfield. Sounds like someone’s about to hit a homer.
#9: “The Princess Diaries 3” Is In Production
Anne Hathaway confirmed back in October 2024 that a third “Princess Diaries” film was officially in the works. A few other things have since taken precedence, as Hathaway is currently preparing to have her third child. That said, a very pregnant Hathaway took to the stage at D23, assuring fans that “The Princess Diaries 3” is moving forward. The team is taking their time to get it right, however. Ahead of D23, Julie Andrews stated that she “probably” wouldn’t be reprising her role as the Queen of Genovia, as she’s pretty much just doing voiceover work at this stage of her career. Considering the success Hathaway had with “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” though, it isn’t surprising that she’s on board for another legacy sequel.
#8: First Look at Jon Favreau’s “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” Miniseries
Oswald ironically isn’t the luckiest rabbit, as fate saw him fall by the wayside while Mickey rose to fame. Although Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks created Oswald, he remained a Universal property until 2006, when he finally leaped over the Mouse House. Almost a century after his creation, the rabbit’s luck is turning around. Jon Favreau has been developing an Oswald-centric project that blends live-action and hand-drawn 2D animation. Helming the animation is Sergio Pablos, a former Disney artist who also directed the Oscar-nominated “Klaus.” D23 provided the first glimpse at this three-episode miniseries, showing Oswald returning to Walt’s office where he briefly plays “When You Wish Upon a Star” on the piano. Oswald’s comeback vehicle arrives on Disney+ in time for his 100th birthday!

#7: “The Bluey Movie” Teaser Trailer
Appealing to a wide range of viewers young and old, “Bluey” has not only been one of the most consistently streamed shows on Disney+. It remains one of the most streamed shows, period. A feature film based on the animated phenomenon was announced back in 2024. D23 gave us a first look at Bluey’s cinematic debut, which will give the characters a CGI makeover. Like the show, the teaser for “The Bluey Movie” is short, sweet, and simple… yet feels so much bigger! As a balloon descends almost like the feather from “Forrest Gump,” Bluey and Bingo engage in a game of Keepy Uppy. With creator Joe Brumm serving as the writer and director, we’re prepared to feel anything other than blue.
#6: “Star Wars: Starfighter” Trailer
The trailer for “Ahsoka” Season 3 promises more of Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen, but the biggest news on the “Star Wars” front saw Ryan Gosling take to the stage at D23. The former Mouseketeer will be playing Kade in “Star Wars: Starfighter,” which reportedly takes the action to a new galaxy. The first trailer sees Gosling paired with an alien rock spider, errr, we mean a young man played by Flynn Gray. In a rundown garage, Gray’s character stumbles upon a decommissioned starfighter - said to be the fastest of its kind. From there, Gosling goes full “Drive,” but in a spacecraft this time! With Shawn Levy behind the camera, “Starfighter” is set to come out fifty years after “A New Hope” hit theaters.
#5: New “Avengers: Doomsday” Footage
You know, maybe we jumped the gun with the whole superhero fatigue thing, especially after watching some of the trailers Marvel debuted at D23. The trailer for “VisionQuest,” which debuts on Disney+ in October 2026, sees the return of James Spader’s Ultron, looking more human than usual. We also got a special look at “Avengers: Doomsday” - perhaps the most Doom-centric preview yet. Not only do we get more footage of a masked-up Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, but Sue Storm tells her fellow heroes about the villain’s backstory. Sue paints a portrait of a tragic figure driven to do the unthinkable. We’re kind of digging everything about Downey’s portrayal so far, from the costume, to the accent, to his command over the Sentinels.
#4: “Frozen 3” & “Zootopia 3”
Two of Disney’s biggest properties are getting the trilogy treatment. After the ending of “Zootopia 2” teased the arrival of birds, Disney has confirmed that a third film is in the works with Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Ke Huy Quan returning. While that threequel is still in early development, “Frozen 3” is gearing up for its Thanksgiving 2027 release. D23 didn’t just tease Anna and Kristoff tying the knot, but also a love interest for Olaf. Her name’s Samantha, and yes, there will be a snowman-centric love song. We’ll be getting a new villain as well, forcing the characters to venture away from Arendelle to a far more dangerous frozen land. The baddie may conjure a storm unlike any that Elsa has ever faced.
#3: “The Incredibles 3,” “Coco 2,” & More Pixar Updates
Pixar isn’t exclusively making sequels now, with D23 providing more footage of next year’s “Gatto” and the first teaser for 2028’s “Ghost Market.” As promising as those look, there’s no denying that “Incredibles 3” and “Coco 2” dominated the headlines. Pixar revealed that the “Coco” sequel follows a now-teenage Miguel, who once again clashes with Benjamin Bratt’s Ernesto de la Cruz. Bratt hinted at Ernesto seeking revenge, but also potentially teaming up with Miguel. Where the first “Incredibles” centered on the family patriarch and its 2018 sequel focused on the matriarch, “Incredibles 3” spotlights the kids, who seek to prove themselves as heroes who don’t need adult supervision. A new villain will naturally surface, although Edna interrupted the D23 footage before they could be revealed.
#2: “Kingdom Hearts: The Series” Is Happening
“Kingdom Hearts” fans sometimes go entire years without getting updates on the beloved franchise’s future. D23 opened the door to two huge announcements, however. For starters, we’ll be getting a world based on “Coco” in the previously announced “Kingdom Hearts IV,” which is expected to arrive in late 2027. The biggest bombshell is that a “Kingdom Hearts” anime series is being developed for Disney+ and Disney Channel. This won’t be a straightforward adaptation of the games. Disney says it “reimagines the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of ‘Kingdom Hearts’ while celebrating the characters.” Co-creator Tetsuya Nomura will be working with the creative team, which will hopefully unlock the show’s full potential.

#1: “X-Men” Casting
After Sadie Sink made her debut as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (um, spoiler?), we knew it was only a matter of time before we got more “X-Men” casting announcements. Sink appeared at D23, where she welcomed several co-stars who will be joining her in the Jake Schreier-directed “X-Men” film. The cast includes Kit Connor of “Heartstopper” as Cyclops, Tony nominee Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, “Ready or Not’s” Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, “Obsession” breakout Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd in her feature debut as Storm. Although Adam Driver couldn’t make it, he recorded a video, revealing that he’ll be playing Mister Sinister. Tonight, we not only met the next generation of X-Men, but the future of the MCU.
