Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Go RVing This Summer Nothing inspires a vacation like a recreational vehicle. Welcome to MojoTravels and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Go RVing This Summer. For this list, we’re taking a look at why your next summer trip wouldn’t be complete without an RV. We’d like to thank the New York Times for helping to inspire this list. #5: You Can Bring Pets Along for the Ride One of the main reasons some people may be reluctant to take a vacation is because they don’t want to leave their pets behind. Many hotels won’t accept animals and if you do find a pet-friendly hotel, keeping them crated for the lengthy journey is no fun at all. Even if you leave them in caring hands, both you and your pet (or pets!) are bound to miss each other terribly. Taking an RV means that your pet doesn’t need to miss out on the adventure. Whether you have a reasonably-sized dog, a pampered kitty, a caged bird, or a fish in a bowl, an RV should provide enough space to accommodate any house pet. RVing is especially fun for canines, as you can roll down the window to let them catch a breeze, and pull over to take them on nature walkies. #4: You Can Pull Over to Make Camp Some people enjoy roughing it in the great outdoors, allowing them to get back to nature. Others can’t imagine parting ways with the modern technologies and luxuries they’ve grown accustomed to, even for a brief period. With an RV, you get the best of both worlds! As RVShare’s chief executive Jon Gray put it, “It’s a happy medium between a hotel and tent camping.” If you want a traditional camping experience, you can always pull over, pitch a tent, and make a campfire. For something more on the cushy side, however, heat something up on the stove or barbeque, enjoy a brisk dinner under the patio, and then crash on a cozy RV mattress. As for where you should set up camp, there’s no shortage of picturesque sites, but you can’t go wrong with private options like Kampgrounds of America or Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, or the amazing variety of American National Parks. #3: Packing Is Much Easier There’s always a limit to how much you can take on an airplane, whether you check your bags or carry on. Whenever you pack the car up for a road trip, it can often feel like the walls are closing in on you. One of the advantages of traveling in an RV is that there’s plenty of room for multiple bags, with enough space leftover for every passenger to stretch their legs and relax. With drawers, cabinets, and hidden compartments, you can pack a lot more in an RV than what you’d usually take on holiday. Actually, if you’re renting your RV, some owners will do much of the packing for you, with the vehicle coming equipped with kitchen supplies, camping gear, and other provisions. The best part is that if you’re planning on stopping at several destinations, you never have to worry about unpacking and repacking. Everything is already nestled together in one convenient area. #2: Getting There Is Half the Fun When you take an RV, it doesn’t really matter what your final destination is. The wonders you come across along the way all contribute to a remarkable experience. Hitting the open road and seeing where it takes you would make for an unpredictable – not to mention unforgettable – journey. Of course, it’s probably wiser to set out with a game plan, particularly for newcomers. “Map out your route in advance,” Virtuoso travel agent Deborah Trevino suggests. “Smaller roads may not be equipped to accommodate heftier R.V.s.” Trevino highly recommended signing up for apps and groups like Good Sam Club or CoPilotsGPS to help stay on track. Roadtrippers.com is an especially useful resource when it comes to setting a course and estimating the distance you’ll be driving, not to mention how much fuel you’ll need to get there. Before we get to our top pick, here are some honorable mentions: So Many Cool RV Models to Choose From You Can Change Your Travel Plans and Explore #1: An RV Can Be More Efficient Than a Hotel Depending on what model you rent or buy, an RV can offer almost all the amenities you’d find at a hotel: beds, television, wi-fi, shower, and a well-appointed kitchen. Where a fancy hotel room will typically cost you over a hundred dollars a night, though, an RV just needs to be kept full of gas. Granted, gasoline isn’t cheap either (though in most of the US it is definitely affordable) but the extra time you save by traveling in an RV is priceless. Aside from always having your luggage close by, you’ll also never be too far away from a central hub where you can unwind. After a long day of exploring, you don’t have to lug yourself back to a hotel. Your room is already parked nearby and waiting for you. Plus, if you’re going to rent a car anyway, why not combine a vehicle and your hotel into one package, right? So get going!
