The battle royal genre has always done well with streaming, but those games can have a lot of downtime between dropping in, looting, and making your way to a fight. But Fortnite keeps the intensity up, with a smaller, more open map and faster paced combat. This makes it an enormous amount of fun to watch on Twitch and those big, wacky moments that make good streaming entertainment come up often. More so than most other shooters, Fortnite is really easy to get into and follow for audiences, even if they don't play the game themselves. Plus, Epic games keeps really involved in the community, and it's only a matter of time before we get a skin based off Ninja.
