VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton
Want to escape the blistering cold? Are you tired of looking at the same views everyday? Why not plan a trip to one of these five locations perfect for a little getaway? These hot spots are popular destinations for those who enjoy thrills and adventures. Montego Bay, Jamaica; Boracay, The Philippines; Canary Islands, Spain, and Cancun, Mexico are all highly recommended.

#5: Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay is a high-energy beachside city perfect for catching rays, club hopping and inexpensive duty-free shopping! The most well known beach is Doctor’s Cave Beach, which – despite its clinical sounding name – is utter paradise, with crystal clear waters and soft white sand. Travelling to Jamaica in March is a great choice because you avoid the rainy hurricane season, and temperatures range from 73-84 degrees Fahrenheit - perfect for lounging in the sun. Montego Bay is a popular Spring Break location however, so be warned that it could be busy at that time of year.

#4: Cape Town, South Africa

South Africa’s capital city and neighboring areas feature a variety of landscapes and activities for any adventurous traveller. Whether you’re looking for picturesque beaches, majestic mountains or even colonies of penguins, this is the place for you. Cape Town’s summer season runs from December through February, meaning that by March, fall is starting. So, by visiting Cape Town in March you avoid the tourist high season while still taking advantage of warmer temperatures. Also, March marks the beginning of wine season... so if you’re an oenophile, you can visit local vineyards, sign up for tastings and even help harvest the grapes and partake in the winemaking process.

#3: Boracay, The Philippines

In recent years, Boracay has become one of the most popular island vacation spots in the world thanks to its pristine beauty. The temperature reaches an average high of 84 in March, so if you’re looking to soak up the sun, Boracay is ideal. The island is tiny, measuring only about 4.5 miles in length, but there is plenty of activity packed into this relatively small space. Boracay is all about the beaches, with the 2.5-mile long White Beach being the most popular. Whether you’re the type to grab a tropical cocktail and lie back with a good book or one who dives in and partakes in some watersports, Boracay is sure to please.

#2: Canary Islands, Spain

This tropical Spanish archipelago, located near the coast of Northern Africa, is a chain of idyllic islands. The largest of the seven major islands, Tenerife, is also the most popular for travellers, but luckily, by visiting in March, you’ll be arriving at the tail-end of the primary tourist season, when it’s beginning to die down. Teide National Park sits inland and features dramatic volcanic views and superb hiking trails. Or head to Gran Canaria for diverse scenery: you can see vast deserts, white sand beaches, lush forests and rugged mountain terrain all on one small island. Gran Canaria also boasts arguably the best nightlife, thanks to the vibrant bar scene found in the city of Las Palmas.

#1: Cancun, Mexico

Azure Caribbean waters, exciting nightlife and miles of beachfront make Cancun a prime winter travel destination. December through April is the high season in Cancun, but that’s no reason not to visit. Though crowds may be larger, it’s for good reason: the weather is absolutely divine at this time of year. If you’re looking for a great party, you’re in luck: March is peak Spring Break season in Cancun, which is incidentally one of the most popular Spring Break spots in the world. However, if you want to avoid all the debaucherous co-eds, just make sure to pick a hotel that isn’t known for being popular with college students. Do you agree with our list?
