In Tech N9ne’s “Worldwide Choppers,” Yelawolf’s rap speed averages around 6.87 syllables per second. This trap rapper from South Florida gained popularity after forming a hip-hop collective with the late rapper, XXXTentacion, releasing two mixtapes before the hip-hop star’s untimely demise. Known for his unique rap flow and countless cartoon references, Ski races through most of his songs, delivering a top speed of 11.3 syllables per second on his 2016 track, “Vetty Vrocker,” and on other songs such as “SLMD Remix” and his 2017 collaboration with XXXTentacion, “Off the Wall.” Although, he may have bit off a little more than he could chew going up against legendary rapper, Twista, in The Fast Rapper Championship.

#17: Watsky

This guy makes other rappers look about as fast as dial-up internet. A writer, poet, and hip-hop artist from San Francisco, California,Watsky made a splash after showing off his fast-rap skills online when he shared his video, “Pale Kid Raps Fast.” Starting out as a slam poet in high school, Watsky eventually turned his poetry skills into musical masterpieces. He has since released popular alternative hip-hop songs that have very speedy spitting and millions of views on YouTube. Like many rappers, his knack for poetry helps make him a talented lyricist, and although he’s fast, he’s also articulate.

#16: NF

If there are two things this guy doesn’t care about, it’s his critics and breathing. After cutting his teeth in Christian hip-hop, Michigan rapper, NF slowly transitioned to the more secular side, starting with his 2017 rapid-fire collaboration with Futuristic, “Epiphany.” Primarily influenced by another white rapper from Michigan whom some of you may know named Eminem, NF’s verses are relentless and crammed with several layers of rhyme schemes and tongue twisters. From his scathing attack on critics in “Paid My Dues” to his electric collaboration with popular chopper rapper, Tech N9ne, NF proves that you sure can make fire without oxygen.

#15: Joyner Lucas

Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, this socially conscious hip-hop star has been rapping since the tender age of 10, sharpening his rap skills over the years. He gained some attention dropping fast-spitting remixes of popular hip-hop songs, such as “Panda (Remix).” He would only attain international recognition with the release of his 2017 single, “I’m Not Racist” which racked up millions of views on YouTube and nabbed a Grammy nomination. He has since released other singles showcasing his air-tight flow, most notably in his collaboration with Tech N9ne on “Sriracha,” where he hits a top speed of 11.4 syllables per second. Clearly, no lungs were used in the making of Joyner Lucas.

#14: Bizzy Bone

One of the founding members of the influential hip-hop group, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Bizzy Bone stood out early on as one of the fastest rappers in the group, before going on to launch his solo career in 1998. His characteristic style, featuring a soft and high-pitched delivery of fast-paced rapping interspersed with harmonic layers make him one of the most unique rappers of his generation. Without breaking a sweat, Bizzy Bone comfortably hits neck-breaking speeds of 12 syllables per second on his songs, “Mercy Mary” and “Uptown Downtown.” He also delivered a breathtaking verse on Diddy’s “Angels With Dirty Faces.”

#13: K.A.A.N.

Combining clever wordplay, sickening rhymes, and poignant storytelling, this Maryland rapper makes innovative music with striking lyrics you’d probably miss the first ten times you listen. Hitting speeds that bullet trains would be jealous of, K.A.A.N. has released several mixtapes and albums, most notably his song, “KAANCEPTS” and his remix of Eminem’s “Rap God.” His influences cut across different genres, from Nas to Etta James to Smokey Robinson, and even Adele, who he’s sampled on yet another fire-cracking track of his. With illuminating lyrics that frequently address mental health issues, politics and religion, it’s rather fitting his stage name means, Knowledge Above All Nonsense.

#12: NoClue

Making songs with fast rap verses is one thing, but winning a Guinness World Record for Fastest Rap MC is a whole ‘nother thing. Originating from Seattle, Washington, this biting lyricist grabbed the world’s attention when he broke the Guinness Record in 2005, at just 20 years old, rapping 723 syllables in 51.27 seconds on the track, “New West.” His lightning fast rap skills are also evident on songs like “Limelight” and “Ima Mash.” To show you just how synonymous he is with speed, NoClue was brought on by telecom company, Optus, to promote the launch of their 4G network in 2012.

#11: Tonedeff

No need holding your breath for this guy, we’re sure he’s already doing so himself. Tonedeff rose through the ranks in the underground hip-hop scene due to his scalding-hot rap battle skills and his ability to reach supersonic speeds, while dropping sick bars. His songs typically feature a fast-paced flow that gradually gets faster as the music progresses. He employs this in his 2013 track, “Crispy” where he hits an astounding 14.1 syllables per second, and on the song, “Velocity.” His excellent rap performance and wicked rhymes make this MC more than just a fast rapper.

#10: Twisted Insane

If you try to rap along with this Chopper, your brain might implode. Originally from San Diego, California, Twisted Insane is one of the fastest rappers around. In “The Chop Shop,” he makes other fast rap look downright leisurely in comparison. Similarly, his verse in “Visions” is almost impossible to keep up with, and in Tech N9ne’s “Worldwide Choppers,” he practically crams an entire song’s worth of words into 15 seconds. Despite Twisted’s breakneck speed, you can still understand him—for the most part—making him a top-notch Chopper.

#9: Krayzie Bone

One of the standout members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Krayzie Bone arguably had the most successful solo career of the group, releasing a Platinum solo album and winning a Grammy for his collaboration with Chamillionaire. He took his own breath away with his song, “Heated Heavy” and his verse on Bone Thugs’ “Handle the Vibe” which he performed at a heart-stopping 12.5 syllables per second. He may not hit the top speed of some other rappers, but his unique ability to maintain a fast-paced flow for extended periods, while staying melodious and lyrically sound makes Krayzie an extraordinary chopper.

#8: Logic

Top 5 Reasons to Love Logic

You’d need to suspend all logic to keep up with this guy. This Maryland rapper gained traction in the early 2010s with his Young Sinatra mixtape series, where he showed off his penchant for maximum speed rap, potent wordplay and introspective lyricism. On his 2018 song, “100 Miles and Running” he speeds up to an impressive 11.7 syllables per second. He also stands his ground against other fast rappers, like on the track “Sriracha” with Tech N9ne and Joyner Lucas, and “Homicide” with Eminem. Logic easily switches between different flow styles in a captivating way, keeping you hooked till the last beat drops. Good luck singing along to him at karaoke.

#7: Tech N9ne

Named after a semi-automatic gun, this rapper’s punchy rapid-fire verses truly live up to his title. Tech started rapping at a young age, mastering his fast-rapping style with acute acceleration and alliteration. Coming from Kansas City, Missouri, the Midwest Chopper brought the style to a whole new level, collaborating with rappers from around the world to bring you his song “Worldwide Choppers.” Tech N9ne consistently raps at lightning speed, or at least at the “Speed of Sound”, making his name synonymous with Chopper rap.

#6: Busta Rhymes

Busta raised the bar on spitting bars. This popular actor, producer, and of course, rapper from Brooklyn, New York, is best known for his unique style of rhyming, where he places words and rhymes in the unlikeliest of places. Busta’s no slouch in the speed department, and can average a speed of 143 words a minute. His most popular and influential fast verse is in his song “Break Ya Neck,” which has been imitated by other rappers online. Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” also features Busta rapping at a mind-blowing speed.

#5: Mac Lethal

Want to speed learn a thousand new words? Then this guy’s got you covered. An underground rapper, songwriter and author from Kansas City, Missouri, Mac Lethal started off releasing independent albums and EPs where he displayed his fast rap skills on songs like “Pale Kid Raps Faster.” After rejecting a contract with Sony in 2011, Mac became an internet sensation when a video of him rapping to Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” went viral. This led to interviews on various news websites and an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” He famously rapped a thousand words in two minutes in one of his YouTube videos, supposedly setting a new world record.

#4: Rebel XD

There’d be no auctioneers left if he went into the business. This insanely fast rapper from Chicago, Illinois made history by winning the Guinness World Record for Fastest Rap MC a groundbreaking three times. He first broke the record set by Twista in 1993, broke his own record in 1998, and then reclaimed his title from NoClue in 2007, when he rapped at a nearly impossible speed of 20.3 syllables per second. Jamming a dictionary’s worth of words into one song, he’s so fast you’d think you’re listening to him backwards. Rebel may be famous for speed rapping, but he believes his lyrics are one-of-a-kind and is working hard to prove that to his fans.

#3: Twista

The original tongue twister, Chopper rap might not be where it is today without him. This rapper from Chicago, Illinois, played a big role in the emergence of Midwest Chopper rap. His fast-rapping style landed him in the 1992 Guinness Book of Records for Fastest Rapper in History, where he was recognized for being able to rap 598 syllables in 55 seconds. His debut single “Mr. Tung Twista” reaches speeds that most rappers can’t achieve in their entire career, and he hasn’t slowed down since, with songs like “Heartbeat,” and ”Talk to Me” keeping the pedal to the medal. Twista’s rhymes will leave your head spinning.

#2: Eminem

Top 5 Times Eminem Just Stopped Caring

This rap god worked to earn his title. The lyrical genius from Detroit, Michigan, swept a whole generation off their feet with his rap style and skills. He even managed to break a world record with his music. Eminem’s song "Rap God" made the Guinness World Records in 2015 for Most Words in a Hit Single. The song skillfully crams 1,560 words into six minutes and three seconds. He’s also shown off his own brand of chopper rap on the Tech N9ne song, “Speedom.” And although he’s fast, his lyrics are still coherent enough to offend your parents.

#1: Crucified

You probably won’t understand a thing, but we promise you, this guy raps actual words. This underground chopper rapper from New Braunfels, Texas gives the word ‘fast’ an entirely different meaning. Rapping at a jaw-dropping 28.9 syllables per second on his song, “Power Up,” Crucified broke the Guinness World Record for Fastest Rap MC. Unfortunately, the category was discontinued that year “due to lack of real competition.” Very telling. On his track, “That Music,” Crucified makes other fast rappers sound like they’re merely talking. With lyrics that usually take a swing at aliens, the occult and other supernatural occurrences, it wouldn’t be totally inaccurate to label Crucified an out-of-this-world rapper.
