Top 10 Upcoming Games That You Can't Play On PS4 and Xbox One

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Upcoming Xbox Games to Get Excited About (2021-2022)! For this list, we’re taking a look at Xbox games you should definitely keep on your radar throughout 2021 and 2022! Which Xbox title are you most excited to play? Sound off in the comments below!

#10: “State of Decay 3”

Despite “State of Decay 2” not doing as critically well as the first game, it was successful enough for Microsoft to purchase Undead Labs and warrant a third game in the survival horror franchise. However, not much is known about “State of Decay 3” as of the time of this video aside from the fact that we’ll be seeing it on PC and Xbox Series X/S. We just hope that Undead Labs realizes what went wrong with the second game and expands more on what made the original so great...and make it not so buggy.

#9: “Forza Motorsport 8”

While we have been enjoying the runaway success that is 2018’s “Forza Horizon 4”, we almost forgot about the mainline “Forza Motorsport” series! There hasn’t been a new installment since “Forza Motorsport 7” in 2017, meaning that part of the franchise hasn’t been around in a handful of years. Well, developer Turn10 Studios seems to be wanting to take its time with the eighth game in order to show off the Xbox Series X/S’s capabilities. At the time of this video, we’ve only heard about playtesting invites being sent for the game. Judging by that, Turn10 has to be in the polishing phase, meaning we could see it launch before the end of 2021 or early 2022. The first round of Forza Motorsport 8 playtest invites has been sent out | VGC (videogameschronicle.com)

#8: “Avowed”

From “Fallout: New Vegas” and “South Park: The Stick of Truth” to “Pillars of Eternity” and “The Outer Worlds”, Obsidian Entertainment has established itself as the studio to go for great RPGs. In addition to the survival game “Grounded”, Obsidian has been hard at work in developing “Avowed”, which, judging from the announcement trailer, looks eerily similar to “Elder Scrolls”. Not much has been shown since it was revealed in July 2020, but we’re psyched for another imaginative world from the minds of Obsidian! Show everyone how it’s done again, guys!

#7: “Nobody Saves the World” (2021)

10 Upcoming Open World Games To Get Excited About

If you’ve played “Tales From Space”, “Severed”, or any of the “Guacamelee” games, then you’re probably amped for DrinkBox Studios’ next title, which is coming exclusively to PC and Xbox Series X/S. “Nobody Saves the World” sees players mixing forms and abilities together as they explore nebulous dungeons. You can go from something as simple as a rat or ranger to a bow-wielding horse or magical bodybuilder. It’s a charming and goofy take on the dungeon-crawling and roguelike genres, and knowing the level of quality DrinkBox strives for, you better believe it’s going to be a great game!

#6: “The Gunk” (2021)

Top 10 Upcoming PS5 Games to Get Excited About 2021 2022

We wouldn’t expect a game called “The Gunk” to be so visually compelling, and yet here we are. From Image & Form Games, the creators of the “Steamworld” franchise”, comes a third-person shooter where you must cleanse a beautiful planet from the titular infection. “The Gunk” looks like it’ll be taking full advantage of the Xbox Series X/S’s capabilities, utilizing a smooth framerate, breathtaking visuals and particle effects, and more. This Xbox exclusive is supposedly Image & Form’s biggest game yet, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it when it launches in September 2021.

#5: “Everwild”

For a time, it seemed as though Rare was never going to get back the magic the company had in the 90’s. However, with “Sea of Thieves” being bigger than it’s ever been, we might be seeing a new era of Rare, and it all depends on how well its next title performs. “Everwild” seems to be aiming for a goal similar to “Sea of Thieves” in that players can explore a world of wonder, mystery, and in this case, be one with nature. Gameplay has yet to be shown, but if Rare has learned its lessons from the pirate game’s messy launch, they’ll know to release “Everwild” as a complete and unique package.

#4: “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II”

“Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice” was one of the biggest surprises to come out in 2017. Even more shocking is the fact that Ninja Theory is currently making a sequel exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X/S. The first game was a real treat with its thrilling combat, well-written story, and superb voice acting, winning Ninja Theory several awards. With the team using the new Unreal Engine 5, we’re stoked to see what kind of crazy fights and moments “Hellblade II” has in store for us! And we expect the story to be just as gut-wrenching! With a trailer being shown back in 2019, it may not be long before we reunite with Senua.

#3: “Fable”

Poor old “Fable” got sucked into a downward spiral after the disastrous “Fable Heroes” and “Fable: The Journey”, having now gotten to the point where it’s arguably one of Xbox’s more obscure titles. This is why we were so overjoyed in July 2020 when Microsoft announced it was rebooting the series. The best part? Playground Games are helming the project. Given how much fun and excitement the studio put into “Forza Horizon 4”, we have the utmost confidence that this could be enough to reinvigorate public interest in the IP. Let’s just hope it won’t be too long before we get to revisit the world of Albion!

#2: “Psychonauts 2” (2021)

Honestly, it feels like we’ve been talking about this game FOREVER. How many times have we put this game up on lists like this? Well, hopefully, this’ll be the last. In early 2021, director Tim Schafer updated the public on progress, stating the game was receiving some polish. In April 2021, the Double Fine Twitter account confirmed the game was in a playable state and will release before the end of the year. At long last, we will finally get to explore more crazy psyches with Raputin. Welp, time to play the original game again! Before we reveal our most anticipated top pick (which is probably obvious), here are a few Honorable Mentions…

“Twelve Minutes”

Trippy, Wild, & Boasts a Great Voice Cast

“Scorn”

#1: “Halo Infinite” (2021)

5 Best And 5 Worst Things About Halo Infinite Multiplayer

Yes, yes, we know we’ve thrown this game onto several negative lists, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited for this one. “Halo” has been dormant for a LONG time now (well, at least the main games). Despite its obvious technical and graphical flaws, the demo we saw in 2020 looked incredibly fun to play! Not only was it the tight gunplay we’ve come to expect from “Halo”, but now, the Chief has a grappling hook to swing around the battlefield and grab enemies! Couple this with the fact that the game will be available on Game Pass on launch day AND the multiplayer mode will be free-to-play, and “Infinite” could possibly become a massive success.
