Top 10 Things to Remember Before Watching Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Things to Remember Before Watching Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc. For this list, we’re recapping the essential moments from the last outing of Demon Slayer to get you caught up before the series heads into its third season! Keep an eye out for spoilers, and let us know in the comments if we glossed over any essential scenes from the Entertainment District Arc.

#10: Hotaru’s Importance

Given how Tanjiro and the rest will be heading to the eponymous Swordsmith Village, it only makes sense that this long-standing side character is going to have a bigger role to play. So far we’ve only seen Hotaru repair Tanjiro’s blade, and subsequently attack him for getting the sword damaged in the first place. It’ll be interesting to see his standing amongst his fellow masked smiths…and see if he actually succeeds in killing Tanjiro this time on account this will be the third time he’ll need his sword fixed!

#9: Tanjiro’s Evolving Scar

Plenty of attention has been given to Tanjiro’s earrings – a memento from his father that has apparently been passed down to Kamado bloodline, However, during the battle with Gyutaro, we see it expand and darken during the apex of the battle, almost in response to Tanjiro’s will to push through the pain and finish the fight. Turns out there’s more mystery to Tanjiro and his family than expected, and doubtlessly we’ll see it come into play again sooner or later.

#8: The Many Faces of Muzan

Top 10 Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc Moments

Remember when Muzan appeared before the Lower Moons looking like he had just come out of a drag club? As it happens, that’s just one of his many disguises. The King of the Demons is living a multitude of lives, not just as a father, husband and geisha, but also as a young child. How he finds the time for all these, we’ll never know, though we can assume his infiltration of these various parts of human life is part of his ongoing plans. Either that or he just really loves playing house.

#7: Love and Mist

Goes without saying but still worth mentioning, but the two master swordsmen that will be joining Tanjiro and company on their latest escapade are Mitsuri and Muichiro – the Love and Mist Hashira respectively. Certainly two of the more eccentric members of the group, given how Mitsuri seems to be attracted to literally everyone and everything, while Muichiiro is constantly in a daze. Naturally, we can’t wait to see them show their skills, and hopefully get a better ending than the likes of Rengoku!

#6: Tengen is Retired

Speaking of Hashira. Tengen may have not lost his life during the explosive finale of the Entertainment District, but he won’t be swinging his weapons for a while. Having lost a hand, an eye, and pushed to the edge, the Sound Hashira makes the wise decision to retire after his battle with the Upper Demon Moon. A shame we won’t be able to see more of his signature flashiness, but given how he’s going to spend his twilight years with three eager wives, we’d say he unlocked the best ending.

#5: Muzan’s Memories

For all his pretense of absolute authority, it turns out that Muzan is a bit of a scaredy cat on the inside. During her battle with Tanjiro, Daki suddenly inherits a memory of Muzan due to their shared blood. The memory itself is fleeting, but gives insight that he still feels the fear and sting of a previous defeat at the hand of a warrior with strikingly similar features to Tanjiro, who also happened to be sporting those same earrings. Whoever he was, the beatdown he handed Muzan was so severe he’s still feeling it all these centuries later!

#4: The Infinity Castle

Muzan may have been happy to slaughter all the Lower Moons for his own amusement, but it seems that he never expected one of the Upper Moons to bite the dust. One of the ending scenes of the second season reveals that in the wake of Gyutaro and Daki’s deaths, Muzan has summoned Akaza and all of the other Upper Moons to the endless labyrinth that serves as his domain – which we now know as the Infinity Castle. Whatever his reaction, it’s clear he’s going to be plotting a hell of a counterattack against those that robbed him of one of his elite servants.

#3: Nezuko’s Beast Mode

The boys weren’t the only ones leveling up with their clash with the Upper Demon Moons – Nezuko came in clutch, and demonstrated that she’s so much more than an adorable tag-a-long. Apparently seeing her brother get nearly killed by Daki was enough to push her demon side into overdrive. Not only did she get a brand new look as fearsome as it was pure waifu material, but also gained enough strength to completely curb stomp Daki like she were a ragdoll. Muzan is right to be worried about her!

#2: Breathless

Tanjiro’s sword styles switched up slighting during his time in the Entertainment District. We got to see him learn about Sun Breathing, blend it with his typical Water Breathing, and even stop breathing altogether! While he’s certainly yet to master it, Sun Breathing appears to slowly becoming Tanjiro’s preferred style of swordsmanship, which is handy given how it can damage demons like no other. That, and his no-breathing technique, which from the looks of things might just serve as the ultimate double edged sword!

#1: Gyutaro and Daki Defeated

It took everything they had, but the combined strength of Tengen, Tanjiro and the rest were finally able to bring down one of the Upper Demons Moons! A tall order in of itself, made all the worse with Gyutaro and Daki being twins with shared abilities! The fight itself was beyond incredible, displaying how far the young swordsmen have come, all leading to one hell of a duel decapitation. The implications of this are likely to be far reaching, further escalating the war between the Demon Slayer Corp and Muzan’s forces. Hopefully the Swordsmith Village has some handy tools to ready them for the upcoming war!
