We are also not including vehicles like the Hellicarrier used by SHIELD as that is more of a base of operations than a means of conveyance.

#10: Cap’s Motorcycle

Stylish and agile, this two-wheeled machine is this hero’s favorite mode of transportation. The captain’s motorcycle perfectly fits the bill for power and maneuverability. Usually appearing as a customized Harley, the bike has been depicted in the pages of the comic books as well as on the big screen. Sometimes it is painted red, white and blue, and other times just decorated with a star, there is no doubt this vehicle is as all-american as its rider.

#9: Silver Surfer’s Surfboard

Hanging ten has never been so gnarly. While it may not have wheels, an engine or even a seat, this intergalactic transportation device is still as sweet as they come. Made out of an unknown material, the board is virtually indestructible. It’s rider, Norrin Radd, was once an alien astronomer, but when Galactus made him his servant, he was given the board and the power cosmic in order to be his harbinger of doom. Able to travel faster than the speed of light, this board is the quickest vehicle on our list.

When a vehicle is responsible for transporting superheroes into battle, you can bet that it has to be one powerful machine. However, being taken into hazardous situations has resulted in them being a little disposable, and many versions of the jet to be made. Versions have included a stealth mode, one powered by Thor’s hammer for an extra kick of speed, and a version with space travel capabilities. Now that’s state of the art.

Machine guns, missiles, rifles with impact munitions, more missiles, wheel spikes, and a flame thrower are just standard issue for this roadster. The Hornet and his sidekick Kato ride out to fight crime in style with this modified 1960's Chrysler Imperial Crown sedan. The square green headlights add an aura of mystery and intrigue and make a stark, perfect contrast to the sleek black paint job and the shiny chrome accents.

If you’ve got to go down the highway to hell, what better way than on a flaming motorcycle. First appearing in Marvel Spotlight #5 in 1972, the bike is often depicted either in black or chrome, with a skull and chains making up the handlebars, front fairing, fender, and fork tube. The perfect bike for any a daredevil who sold his soul to the devil. This antihero’s choice of transport is as dark and foreboding as it’s rider.

#5: The Invisible Plane

First appearing in 1942, Wonder Woman’s plane was her only mode of flight and it wasn’t until the 60’s that she gained to power to fly. Created from a morphing crystal disc that could transform into a number of shapes and become one with the operator, the jet became the final form of the crystal. Capable of super speeds, space travel and undetectable by radar, the jet is a perfect, if a little awkward option for crime fighting travel.

Whether human or amphibian, most teenagers would love to own a van like this, especially since it is also known as the Party Wagon. Although the functions of the van changed over the various cartoon incarnations, it usually includes doors that fold down or up to reveal missile launching capabilities which made for radical crime fighting scenes. Not to mention the turtle van was one of those toys almost any child of the late 80’s or early 90’s just had to have to transport our iconic turtle action figures.

When it comes to intergalactic travel, a motorcycle just isn’t enough. You need a serious space ship to get from point A to point B and everywhere in between. These self proclaimed space exploration team went through several versions of their Starship, before the film settled on "The Milano", named after Peter Quill's celebrity crush from the 80s Alyssa Milano. While each ship had it’s own unique features, most included breakaway pods for individual missions and interstellar galaxy saving. While the ship has changed forms several times with unique features at each turn, it’s clear that this vehicle is topnotch.

Professor Xavier recognized that a team as specialized as the X-Men need an extra-special way to get around. With some of the brightest minds and unique abilities on board, you can bet this vehicle comes with more than a few extra features. While in the recent years, it has more commonly been referred to at the X-Jet, the aircraft includes the ability to reach super speeds, can locate any mutant and has stealth features for avoiding detection. The speed, maneuverability and ability for vertical takeoff make this our one of the coolest vehicles in the comic book universe. It should come as little surprise that the caped crusader’s vehicle made it into our number one spot. One of the first superhero specific vehicles to ever appear in comic books, the Batmobile is probably the most instantly recognizable vehicle on our list, regardless of iteration. Since its first appearance in the 30’s there have been around one hundred variations, while almost all of the versions are black and have winged spoiler features of some kind, each comes unique features and gadgets.
