#10: “One More Time” (2000) Daft Punk

Pink - The Story & the Songs

If a song can get a large group of blue-skinned aliens partying it up like in the video, it should have no problem getting a bunch of us regular humans running for the dance floor. Released in November of 2000, this house track autotuned its way into our heads and all the way to the top of the French Singles Chart. It also reached number two in the U.K. and number 61 in the United States. And while it’s been over two decades since it was released, the song has stood the test of party time, being voted the best dance record ever by Mixmag readers in 2013.

#9: "In da Club" (2003) 50 Cent

Top 10 Songs That Started Catchphrases

There are the two groups of people that always seem to party the hardest. Those celebrating birthdays and bachelorette parties. Now, we don’t know if 50 Cent considered the lyric, “We gon' party like it's your bachelorette party.” But imploring people to party like it’s their birthday is just as good and definitely flows a whole lot better. Throw in the atypical off-beat rhythm and you can turn any room into da club! And who are we to argue with Source magazine who called the track a, “guaranteed party starter.”

#8: “Shake It Off” (2014) Taylor Swift

So, you throw a party and notice that everyone is just standing around gettin' down and out about all the liars and the dirty cheats of the world. What are you to do? Well, just throw on this sick beat and within no time everyone, whether they can dance or not, will be having a great time. Just look at how much fun her fans are having at the end of the video just jumping around and shaking it off. Even Sheldon Cooper, a man who dislikes so very many things, can’t resist T Swift.

#7: “Yeah!” (2004) Usher feat. Lil Jon & Ludacris

While they do help, you don’t need a laser light show and Lil Jon to get the party started. All you need is “Yeah!” The Usher hit is sure to wake everyone up and get them partying like it’s 2004. And if some people don’t get up right away, they will eventually be forced to rise because - no one can hear this song without doing the Thunderclap dance! And don’t be surprised if your guests love it so much that they ask you to “Take that and rewind it back” at least one time.

#6: “Happy” (2013) Pharrell Williams

Top 10 Songs That Make Us Happy Cry

It’s pretty hard to throw a good party if everyone is feeling sad. And there might be no better song to cheer folks up than Billboard's top single of 2014 “Happy.” Seriously, it might seem crazy what we’re about to say, but it’s almost impossible not to smile when you hear this song. You can probably feel the sides of your mouth curling upwards as we speak! And once that happens, then your feet start tapping your hands start clapping, and next thing you know you’re partying like a Minion.

#5: “Crazy in Love” (2003) Beyoncé feat. Jay-Z

Izzo Blues Coalition The Messiah Will Come Again Shine On You Crazy Diamond Intro

When Beyoncé asks you if you’re ready, it’s almost an order to get up and dance. Because no one says no to the Queen. After that, it starts right in with the “Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh, no, no” and even your most conservative and quiet party guests will be showing off their twerking abilities - for better or for worse. Throw in an awesome rap break from her man Jay-Z and this 2003 hit is still guaranteed to start the party up right. Everyone is crazy in love with this track.

#4: "Get the Party Started" (2001) Pink

Also in:

Top 10 Bloc Party Songs

If a song called “Get the Party Started” can’t get the party started then there’s a problem with the song or with the party. But while the song’s title does put a lot of pressure on its ability to get the festivities going, Pink’s 2001 track definitely lived up to its name at the time. And we aren’t the only ones who think it has continued to do so. Even 18 years after the song first dropped, About.com voted “Get The Party Started” the number one best party song of all time.

#3: “Uptown Funk” (2014) Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars

Released in November of 2014, “Uptown Funk” was a pop music phenomenon that took over the airwaves and had people getting their funk on all around the world. The song hit number one on the charts in multiple countries including Australia, Israel, France, South Africa, and the United States to name just a few. As of writing, the “Uptown Funk” music video remains among YouTube’s ten most-watched videos ever and the song funked up the Super Bowl halftime show in 2016. Put this track on at your next party and you’ll have everyone, not just the girls, saying “hallelujah.”

#2: “Hey Ya!” (2003) Outkast

Alright alright alright alright alright! Let’s get to number two on our list and break this thang down. Eleven years before Taylor Swift had us shaking it off, Outkast had us shaking it like a polaroid picture in a song that opened the top 10 of the Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. And while these days there’s a good chance most people at your party won’t know what a polaroid picture is, they’ll still get up and get on that floor when they hear the song. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. “Moves like Jagger” (2011), Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera Who Doesn’t Like Showing off Their Mick Jagger Impression? That’s Right… No One! “Party Rock Anthem” (2012), LMFAO Party Now. Apologize Later! “Don't You Worry Child” (2012), Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin Don’t You Worry, Your Party Is about to Get Started “Hips Don’t Lie” (2006), Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean Shakira’s Hips Said This Was a Great Party Song &… They Don’t Lie! “Party in the U.S.A.” (2009), Miley Cyrus If It Worked in “Pitch Perfect,” It Will Work for You

#1: “Let's Get It Started” (2004) Black Eyed Peas

Also in:

Top 20 Dance Songs of the 2000s

There’s an old adage when it comes to writing that it is better to show than to tell. But you know where that technique doesn’t apply…. When it comes to getting parties started. Sometimes people just need to be told to start partying. Pink did it and so too did the Black Eyed Peas with their 2004 hit, “Let’s Get It Started.” Whatever is happening before this song comes on doesn’t matter, because once that bass starts runnin', runnin' and runnin', runnin' and runnin', runnin' the party is getting started and there’s no turning back.
