Super NorCal Regionals Qualifiers 2010 Fighting games can go either one of two ways. Either friends get together and mash buttons, or people take it very seriously, learn the combos, and rage quit when they get their butts handed to them. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Dustin in the Super NorCal Regionals. Dustin was playing “Street Fighter IV” with Buktooth and switched to Rufus in a vain attempt at turning his luck around. It did not go well. Dustin proceeds to get destroyed yet again, and right before his life bar can fully drain, he stands up and leaves in a rage. Neither the commentators or the crowd are having it, judging by the audible boos.

Summit 2016 During this “Smash” tournament, Wobbles learned that punching holes in walls isn’t as easy and pain-free as it looks in movies. This rage is simply hilarious. First, Wobbles’ Ice Climber is sent skyward, and he throws his controller to the ground in frustration. He then gives a polite double hand shake before wandering off camera. And while we don’t see it, he then punches a hole clean through the wall, prompting a visible reaction from Ice. And just as Ice’s next opponent takes his seat, Wobbles can be seen walking by in the background nursing his now-injured hand. We’re sure the event organizers weren’t too thrilled about that one.

NLBC #66 “Street Fighter IV” really brings out the worst in people. During this NLBC, Rico Suave was facing off against Sanford Kelly. The fight was incredibly close, and Suave defeated Kelly with no visible health left on his health bar. Losing this match would be unbelievably frustrating, and Kelly can’t help but let the frustration out. After standing, Kelly violently throws his arcade stick to the ground and startles Suave. Suave in turn gives an awkward thumbs up to the camera. Aside from the memes that were spawned from this incident, the funniest part of all this are the reactions from the men in the background. All go to see Kelly’s broken controller, and all have a hilarious look of shock and disbelief on their faces.

EU LCS Summer Promotion 2013 This “League of Legends” summer promotion saw Sinners Never Sleep playing Against All Authority. Sinners Never Sleep dominated the game, and Authority’s carry Nono was killed roughly nineteen minutes into the fight. Just as the commentator is talking about the one-sided nature of the battle, a notification pops on-screen informing everyone that Nono had left. While they initially thought that Nono had disconnected, they later realized that he had quit in a huff. Nono’s teammates weren’t too happy about it and essentially forced him back into the game, their entire careers being on the line and all.

2019 NBA 2K League Forget “Street Fighter IV” - “NBA” really brings out the worst in people. Hawks Talon GC was facing off against Celtics Crossover Gaming, and things got a little heated just before the end of the game. HTG ended up winning 68-58, and it was obvious that the post-game proceedings would be rife with tension. Unfortunately, this tension exploded into a scuffle. The first Celtic player refused a handshake and bumped into the lead Hawk. This prompted the Celtic player to shove the Hawk, and a small altercation was broken up by the authorities. Turns out, video game sports are just as confrontational as real sports!

LSPL Summer 2016 Vasilii is a Chinese “League of Legends” player with a horrible reputation. In October of 2017, Vasilii was banned by Riot Games after reports of domestic abuse that was captured on his stream. Roughly one year before that, Vasilii freaked out at a tournament and destroyed some equipment. During an LSPL match against Legend Dragon, Vasilii grew heated, launched an ultimate towards his own teammates, and quit the match. And while the incident wasn’t captured on camera, he then smashed his keyboard to pieces and screamed in vexation. Vasilli also destroyed cameras and lighting equipment, and an unconfirmed eyewitness alleged that Vasilii chased a referee who was attempting to console him.

Madden Classic 2017 A live broadcast saw Kaus playing Tweeez on a game of “Madden NFL 18.” With just two minutes left in the game, Tweeez was leading 15-0, meaning Kaus would need two touchdowns in two minutes just to come within one. After a failed touchdown attempt, Kaus stood up and screamed about how bad the game was, prompting audible laughs in the background. It certainly made for awkward viewing, but there’s an undercurrent of hilarity to it. After his fourth down attempt fails, Kaus mentally checks out of the game and just stares at the screen while shaking his head and rubbing his beard.

Nexus Cup Korean Qualifiers It’s a tale as old as time - while being handedly defeated, simply accuse your opponent of cheating! During an “Overwatch” tournament, the members of Dizziness began accusing their opponent Geguri of cheating. According to them, her aim was just way too good to be legitimate. A player named Strobe was also quoted as saying, “I may visit Geguri’s house with a knife in hand. I am not joking.” Both Strobe and ELTA said they would quit in shame if Geguri was found innocent. Blizzard then investigated and revealed that Geguri was not cheating, and both Strobe and ELTA remained true to their word. Both apologized to Geguri, and both quit the “Overwatch” esports community.

PVP Live Back in April of 2017, a Toronto esports player named Dellor was streaming a ranked game of “Overwatch” to his legion of fans. However, Dellor quickly began losing, and his temper flared regarding a particular player who kept defeating him with a Widowmaker. Following one death, Dellor continuously a racist slur for thirty straight seconds, shocking everyone else in the room to silence. One of Dellor’s Twitch followers captured the racist tirade and uploaded it for the public to see, and Dellor promptly received a swift punishment. Toronto Esports quickly fired Dellor from their roster, and he later wrote on Twitter that he would not be returning to the esports scene.

NA LCS Spring Playoffs 2015 Counter Logic Gaming was on a consistent losing streak, and it seemingly got to Austin Shin, who was going by the name of Link. Feeling burnt out and fed up with his team, Link quit the “League of Legends” scene and penned a letter that spanned nearly 20 pages in length. Called “The Donezo Manifesto,” Link burned every possible bridge he could find, blaming everyone from his teammates to their coaches. He specifically called out a lack of teamwork and supposedly felt disrespected in his position of power. Following the publication of Link’s novel, one of his teammates publicly accused Link of being a poor leader and deflecting blame. Just to rub salt in Link’s wound, CLG would win their next tournament without him.
