Sacha Baron Cohen shines in the role as the strict station inspector in this historical adventure drama. His impressive chase scenes lighten up the film’s at-times melancholic mood and provide moments of pure comedic gold. A far cry from his popular R-rated characters, Baron Cohen’s Gustave Dasté is dark, authoritative, and malicious. But his budding romance with flower girl Lisette shows us that there is also a certain softness and humanity to this classic villain.

In this moment from the 2013 Britannia Awards, Baron Cohen begins to waddle around Charlie Chaplin’s oldest living co-star “Grace Cullington” in a manner reminiscent of the Tramp himself. Unfortunately, his cane breaks, causing him to push the wheelchair-bound octogenarian face-first off the stage. While the audience gasps in horror, SBC resumes his speech, warning her family that if they tried to sue, he’d “take them down, just like I did your granny.” The audience finally realized they’d been duped. The King of Pranks had struck again!

When Brüno interviewed drunk, neo-Nazi punks at London’s Evil Fest on “Da Ali G Show,” we were surprised he got out of there unscathed. The best way to end up in the hospital is to tell homophobic skinheads that you’re gay, or ask them whether they’ve ever masturbated on stage. Brüno does both in hilarious fashion. When he asks one “Do you have a message for Austria’s gay community,” the guy replies, “Yeah, don’t be fucking gay!” This interview is a total riot… we’re just happy it didn’t cause one!

Unlike the sappy songs so common in animated movies, King Julien’s rendition of Reel 2 Real’s “I Like to Move It” in “Madagascar” really gets the party started. The dance-crazed lemur, voiced by Baron Cohen, not only has the moves and the funny accent, but also some of the best lines in the entire “Madagascar” series. His version of the ‘90s hit had audiences young and old tapping their feet and roaring with laughter.

Baron Cohen takes Brüno to the big screen in this mockumentary comedy and the scene we’ve chosen sees the gay Austrian fashion journalist interviewing parents about a baby photo shoot. From asking outrageous questions, like “is your baby comfortable with bees, wasps, and hornets?” to revealing his plan to dress up a kid as a Nazi and another as a Jew being pushed into a furnace, Brüno basically shows us the lengths to which parents will go for fame. As shocking as his questions may seem, the answers the parents give are even more so.

Dim-witted b-boy Ali G has interviewed some pretty impressive people on “Da Ali G Show.” His ability to throw them totally off track with absurd and idiotic questions is pure comedy. In this interview with Prof. Leece, Director of the Center for Gender Research, he tackles issues like his potentially gay Uncle Jamal, whether girls should try feminism at a party, and if Great Britain will ever have a woman prime minister. Leece manages to hold her own and keep her cool even amidst Ali G’s misogynistic and sexist comments. Respek!

In this scene from the 2006 mockumentary comedy, Borat stands in front of a crowd of cheering fans and tells them how he “supports your war of terror” and how he hopes George Bush will “drink the blood of every man, woman and child of Iraq.” The crowd continues to cheer. Only when he starts singing his version of the national anthem, declaring Kazakhstan to be superior to every other nation, does the cheering stop. This scene from “Borat” exposes America’s prejudices and nationalism in hilarious fashion.

Decked out in an American flag tracksuit complete with a sheriff’s badge, Admiral General Aladeen and his nuclear expert Nadal take a helicopter tour over Manhattan. They engage in a long conversation in their fictional native tongue, making references to the Porsche 911, various NYC landmarks and a homemade back brace, that sends their fellow passengers into a full-fledged panic about imminent terrorist attacks. This laugh-out-loud linguistic misunderstanding highlights America’s widespread Arabophobia and is one of the funniest scenes in the entire movie.

In what’s probably “Borat”’s most memorable scene, Borat discovers his producer Azamat “making hand-party” to pictures of Pamela Anderson and then proceeds to attacks him. The most cringe-inducing and disgusting naked man-wrestling brawl ensues, leaving moviegoers covering their eyes and laughing uncomfortably. The scene gets more obscene by the minute, with both men facing off in a 69-style position. The simple fact that both actors agreed to film this scene deserves a spot on our list. For their sake, let’s hope it only took one take!
