For this list, we’re looking at the most exciting top-tier sports cars set to come out in the next two years. As some of these cars are yet to be released, their hype is just as important as the car's predicted performance.

Finally, Ford is taking the fight to Chevrolet and Dodge. For the last few years, rumors have circulated about a new Shelby GT500 and they have proven to be true. Equipped with a supercharged V8 and a potential top speed of over 200 miles per hour, Ford's planned revival of the 1967 classic model is more than welcome. Equipped with over 700 horsepower, the GT500 will be Ford's highest performing street-viable car and a substantial step up from the GT350. Information remains scarce, but the GT500 should roll out in time for 2019.

An electrifying supercar, equipped with a whopping 1,900 horsepower and capable of going from 0 to 60 in 1.85 seconds, the Rimac Concept Two is set to be the definitive electric hypercar. Unveiled during the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the C Two backs up its high specs with an array of driver-friendly systems and a lithium-manganese-nickel battery for rapid recharges. On a full charge and with a driver who conserves power, Rimac's stylish vehicle should last for around 400 miles. Stamped with a price tag exceeding $1 million, Rimac plans to release only 150 units.

The wait is finally over. Debuting in the late '70s, the Toyota Supra has gone through four generations, with the last ending in 2002. At the Geneva Motor Show, Toyota and BMW revealed the racing concept for the fifth-generation model, with production scheduled to start in 2018. As a benefit of Toyota's partnership with BMW, the rear-wheel supercar is expected to carry an inline-six engine and the design seems inspired by 2014's FT-1 concept. While nothing has yet to be confirmed, the Supra is expected to follow the Toyota 86 and enter the racing game.

After years of build-up, McLaren's successor to the Spider 650S has hit the scene. Codenamed as the P14, McLaren's 720S blends breathtaking power and elegance, with the manufacturer comparing the machine to a Great White Shark. Thanks to a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine and an innovative Monocage II carbon fiber body, the 720S is lighter than the McLaren 650 and can reach a total speed eclipsing 210 miles per hour. At 2017's Autocar Awards, McLaren's reasonably priced supercar was rewarded with a full five-star rating.

You can't talk about supercars and not mention Ferrari. The Italian juggernaut unveiled the 488 GTB's replacement during 2018's Geneva Motor Show, with the Pista weighing nearly 200 pounds less than its predecessor. As a culmination of the lessons learned from the 488 series, the Pista celebrates and perfects the ideas presented in the GTB and GTE. Making full use of its Formula One background, Ferrari added a front ramp that greatly enhances the Pista's aerodynamic performance. In the specs department, the latest 488 model is far from a slacker, as its twin-turbo V-8 engine packs 710 horsepower with a top speed of 211 miles.

The Veyron was pretty good, but Bugatti is determined to do better! Marketed as the brand's fastest vehicle to date, the Bugatti Chiron easily destroys the Veyron's 268 miles per hour speed record. Priced at the $3 million mark, Bugatti's revamped W16 engine not only grants a boost in performance but also is simply an all-around smoother ride than the Veyron. Inside and out, the Chiron is one gorgeous work of art, but it is far more than just a show pony. With 1,500 horsepower, the Chiron lives up to the Bugatti name.

Hey, if you're going to enter the hypercar scene, you might as well go big. In celebration of Aston Martin's return to Formula One, the company revealed the Valkyrie during the Geneva Motor Show. Labeled an "F1 car for the road," only 150 models of this 1000 horsepower monster are scheduled to be produced. Equipped with a 6.5 liter V12, the Valkyrie's style and technology directly benefit from Aston Martin's relationship with Red Bull Racing. Built using nothing but carbon fiber components, the Valkyrie's striking aerodynamic design harbors back to Red Bull's RB6 racecar, only this model can be driven by mere mortals.

A supercar worthy of Ayrton Senna's name, and a fusion of the P1 and the 720S, the McLaren Senna was primarily produced for the racetrack but aims to transfer that adrenaline rush onto the open road. Equipped with lighter carbon ceramic brakes and fitted with a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8, the Senna guarantees high speeds and quick lap times. The physical embodiment of McLaren's mantra of "form follows function," the supercar is the manufacturer's most dynamic creation. Capable of reaching 186 miles per hour in under 18 seconds, the McLaren Senna is a fitting tribute to the legendary Brazilian Formula One driver.

What a way to mark your 50th Anniversary! Known only as the AMG Project One, Mercedes brought on Lewis Hamilton to unveil this beast during the International Automobil-Ausstellung. A hybrid based on Mercedes' Formula One engine, Project One incorporated a revised edition of the turbocharged V-6 used by Hamilton and Valterri Bottas during 2017's Championship. The currently unnamed supercar boasts 1000 units of horsepower and an 11,000 rpm redline. The purposefully no-frills interior reflects the Mercedes' ambition to create a street-legal car that is as close as possible to a Formula One vehicle.

Manufactured by Hennessey Special Vehicles, a relatively small brand specializing in supercars, the Venom F5 is named after a tornado and plans to be the first road car to break the 300 miles per hour barrier. As Hennessey has no plans to subject a racetrack to this monstrosity, the Venom F5 can focus exclusively on raw power and speed. Furnished with a 7.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a carbon fiber body, Hennessey's first vehicle to feature active aerodynamics can hit 186 miles per hour in less than 10 seconds. Priced at $1.6 million, Hennessey plans to release only 24 Venom F5s.
