#10: Crucified

Even Narutos first major arc was filled to the brim with a serious amount of blood and death, though none were more gruesome than the fate of Kaiza. A fisherman of great character, Kaiza Inari as a son and swore to protect him and their fishing village with the strength of his arms. Too bad a local corrupt businessman decided to make an example of him by hiring a bunch of muscle to crucify him like he was ninja Jesus, though not before removing those big, strong arms of his Yikes.

#9: Breaking Garo

Say what you will about Boruto, but when it went all out with its animation, it gave us some of the slicked battles in shonen. Case and point, Kawakis introduction as a certified shinobi badass, as he uses his karma abilities to break apart Garo piece by piece. Given that hes pumped up with ninja tech, Garo is able to get in a few good licks, but that all goes out the window when Kawakis karma progression is unleashed, leading to a cybernetic slaughterfest.

#8: Nejis Sacrifice

The Fourth Great Ninja War had its fair share of casualties, though few were as hard-hitting as Neji Hyuuga. Coming to the aid of the two people he had long disregarded, Neji takes the full brunt of Madaras attack in order to safeguard Naruto and Hinata. Despite his immense skill, not even Neji was able to deflect something as powerful as a giant, godly wooden spike flying at mach speed. While his final words were one of hope, seeing a mainstay member of the cast bleed out on the battlefield really added weight to the conflict.

#7: Blood Mist Massacre

Obitos past was not a happy one. After getting half his body crushed by a boulder, the young ninja is brought back from the brink courtesy of Madara, Obito does all he can to recover in order to be reunited with Kakashi and Rin. Alas, by the time he makees his way back, the only thing waiting for him is the sight of Rins corpse, surrounded by Blood Mist Ninja. Driven over the edge, Obito goes on a rampage, tearing apart everything and everyone in sight, thus beginning his path towards villainy. Cant really blame him.

#6: The End of Jiraiya

Everyones favourite perverted hermit went out like an absolute champion, but it was still a gnarly end all the same. Taking on the leader of the Akatsuki, Jiraiya not only manages to hold his own thanks to the power of Sage Mode, but even succeeds in deducing Pains identity. Unfortunately, not even he was prepared to deal with the likes of the Six Paths of Pain, who proceeded to crush his throat, impale him several times over, before leaving his body to fall to a watery grave. Were still not over this one.

#5: Iron Maiden

Kankuro might be something of a background character, but hes responsible for some of the bloodiest kills in the series. Think about it, he ended the likes of Ukon and Sakon by imprisoning them in his giant mechanical puppetbefore having a second puppet break apart into blades, and shish-kebab them. Though thats tame compared to the stunt he pulled in the second Naruto movie. Dude instantly captured and eviscerated a bat girl without so much as a how-dee-do. Hardcore.

#4: The Original Sand Coffin

Before Gaara turned into a pretty chill guy, he was a traumatised maniac with murder on the mind, as demonstrated when he went out of his way to kill a fellow ninja during the Chunin Exams. Set upon by three members of a rival team, Gaara wasted no time in sealing the leader, Shigure, in sand. Youd think that would be the end of things right there, but Gaaras not one for just incapacitating an opponent opting to condense his sand with such force that it causes the ninja NPC to explode.

#3: Got Wood?

Naruto filler remains some of the worst to ever plague the medium, but every now and again it does give us some fun moments. Or in this case, unexpectedly gruesome ones. Taking on random ninja villain number 6, aka Fudo, during the events of the Twelve Guardian Ninja arc, Yamato demonstrates just how deadly wood style jutsu can really be. Instead of just choking him out with roots, he entangles his target in an ever expanding collection of branches, which eventually crush Fudos head like a melon. We would say its excessive, but given how boring this arc was well take anything even remotely exciting!

#2: Immortality Sucks

Thanks to the blessings of his murder-happy god, Hidan can survive practically anything, including getting his head cut clean off. But as it happens, theres a difference between being able to live through an attack, and being able to re-attach your limbs. Hidan found this out the hard way when Shikamaru caused a condensed explosion that scattered him into several chunks, before burying his still living remains in one hell of a deep hole. So, why does this still count as a brutal death? Because Hidan, for all we know, is still at the bottom of said hole, ever so slowly wasting away from starvation and malnutrition. Not even Jashin is going to be able to save him when the last of his cells dry up!

#1: Shark Attack

Kisame is not a man you want to mess with. Hes a lethal member of the Akatsuki, one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, and hes part shark. He also doesnt seem to have a fear of death. In a bid to prevent Naruto and his allies from using jutsu to prod his brain and get crucial information about the upcoming war, Kisame chooses to take himself out of the equationby sealing himself inside a prison of water, summoning a pair of sharks, and offering himself up as dinner. Its such a savage send-off that you cant help but respect him for his loyalty.
