Top 10 Most Romantic Music Videos of All Time
VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton
These music videos make us believe in love. We're talking about Taylor Swift's “Love Story”, Chris Issak's, “Wicked Game”, Ed Sheeran's, “Thinking Out Loud,” Seal's “Secret, Aha's “Take on Me”, Cyndi Lauper's “Time after Time”, Beyonce's, “Halo”, John Legend's, “All of Me” and Katy Perry's,“Teenage Dream” are the most romantic music videos of all time!

#10: “Teenage Dream” (2010) Katy Perry

This video takes you back to those wild and carefree summers where the love was hot and seemed like it would last forever. With a car that seems filled with more bodies than is legally safe, Katy Perry and her dreamy boyfriend set off on a sunny road trip with their crazy friends. Between the group's swimming excursions and the huge parking-lot parties, this couple can't keep their hands off of each other. While things get steamy, the two do share some sweet and vulnerable moments together, like when he wraps her in his jacket, or when she sneaks a nervous peak at him from her locker. Watching this video, it's easy to get nostalgic about our own teenage dreams.

#9: “Someone That Loves You” (2016) Honne & Izzy Bizu

This love story begins with a chance encounter on a downtown train. The couple's one night together is spent throughout the busy city, down deserted streets, and in each other's arms. It becomes especially captivating to watch the scenes of flirtatious laughter and teasing with the simultaneous images of the woman preparing herself in traditional dress. The distant look in her eyes as she does so leaves us with this foreboding feeling that their love will soon be cut short. Indeed, when the man begins to frantically look for the woman, we can't help but wish that, despite whatever's keeping them apart, they do find their way back to each other somehow.

#8: “Love Story” (2009) Taylor Swift

A Valentine's Day Specialty Hour: Love Songs

Taylor Swift has a knack for getting us to believe in happily-ever-after again. While the video is full of fairy tale traits like castles and ball gowns, the real romance stems from the look of hesitant recognition between the couple on their school's campus. In the fairy tale world, the two share a clandestine meeting in an enchanting forest, complete with a noble steed! And, when they can finally be together in the end, they fall into each other's arms. These scenes could simply be the product of a young girl's daydreams or truly the remnants of the couple's past lives. Either way, who doesn't want a shot at living out a fairy tale?

#7: “Wicked Game” (1989) Chris Issak

Spells and Curses - Wicked for Days (Lyric Video)

This video captivates its song's title and lyrics excellently. It feels risqué, and the couple's love looks feverish and dangerous. Shot in black and white, Isaak's shadowy figure suggests a man reminiscing, possibly regretting, a passionate love affair. Despite the sexy and sandy love scenes, Isaak's lover is seen running off by herself in the end. While most true romances would be inauthentic without an element of sorrow laced in, Isaak's resigned look and crooning voice throughout the video implies that he knew just how lethal this dark-haired beauty was. Somehow, he just couldn't seem to help himself.

#6: “Thinking Out Loud” (2014) Ed Sheeran No need for Prince Charmings and elaborate ball gowns in this one. Ed Sheeran grabs our hearts by doing something a little outside of his element. Despite his inexperience as a dancer, he certainly leads this dance and gives the spotlight to his partner, revealing moments in the choreography of pure tenderness and simplicity. In a grand ballroom accented with gold, the pair keeps our attention focused on them simply by keeping focused on each other. While they could've impressed us with their skill, they left an impression on our hearts, affirming that sometimes all you need is a nice melody and a good partner.

#5: “Secret” (2010) Seal

Another video shot in black and white film, but instead of a mysterious gray, the scene shines bright with - dare we say? - love. While this couple didn't last, we can see that their marriage was a passionate and tender one. The sheer curtains that surround the room suggest a secret and private place while the scenes shot in close proximity also suggest a revealing one. The lovers are bare of any clothing and makeup, but have no trouble being vulnerable with each other. This song and video convey that even though long-term relationships can become familiar, they can still be chock-full of new discoveries.

#4: “All of Me” (2013) John Legend

This video gives us a glimpse into John Legend's actual love life with a song especially written for his wife - he's already hitting all of the right romantic notes! While we might not all hang out on a yacht with our significant other, this couple also indulges in simple things like eating and swimming together. Gazing into each other's eyes is also characteristic of most romances but the way Legend and his muse are captivated by each other through the glass of their patio door speaks volumes. Just when this video couldn't get any more real, the video ends with footage of their actual wedding. This couple is not shy about revealing all of their love for each other to the world.

#3: “Halo” (2008) Beyoncé

“Halo” is a lovely picture of what a couple might do on their Sunday morning at the house. The activities may seem commonplace, but the way the sunlight streams into the house at every angle has the couple forever encased in a halo of their own. Brushing teeth becomes amusing and fun; cooking in the kitchen turns into an impromptu dance lesson; laying on the couch to just look at each other is believable rather than cheesy. With the light kisses and soft caresses, the video maintains a sense of purity that'll have you sigh the whole way through.

#2: “Time After Time” (1983) Cyndi Lauper
