VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
Script written by Kyial Robinson.

Two is always better than one: the sitcom world wouldn't be the same without those stable-as-a-rock couples bathing in their wedded bliss. Or, on the other hand, it also wouldn't be the same without the not-so-stable couples who are a little less blissful. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com counts down our picks for the top 10 married sitcom couples. For this list, we're focusing only on those duos who were married for the majority of their TV run – those “will they or won't they” pairings are a list for another day.

Special thanks to our users roxy, Stephen Marshal Bove, Rachel Bloom, viliguns, 17noveL, Joel Olofsson, David Parkinson and BDWJ1986 for submitting the idea on our Suggestions Page at WatchMojo.comsuggest

Two is always better than one. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top 10 married sitcom couples. For this list, we’re focusing only on those duos who were married for the majority of their TV run – those “will they or won’t they” pairings are a list for another day.

#10: Ray & Debra Barone “Everybody Loves Raymond” (1996-2005)

Also in:

Top 10 Hilarious Everybody Loves Raymond Running Gags

He’s a classic momma’s boy, who’s neurotic to the core and afraid to confront his parents. She’s overbearing and super-emotional, and wants more from her husband and less from his parents. Together, Ray and Debra are the perfect pair – at least when it comes to keeping us laughing. They may not always handle the encounters with Ray’s critical mother in the most effective way, but that’s sitcoms for ya.

#9: Hal & Lois Wilkerson “Malcolm in the Middle” (2000-06)

Also in:

Top 10 Hilarious Malcolm in the Middle Running Gags

Hal’s charming, devilish, and you can rely on him to neglect the kids or rant up a storm. Even so, he’s a loving father through and through. Lois is the glue that holds this dysfunctional sitcom family together, keeping her hubby and the kids under control as the bad cop. But Hal and Lois are still as in love as ever, judging by how often they get frisky.

#8: Dan & Roseanne Conner “Roseanne” (1988-97)

Also in:

It’s the bossy, loud-mouthed control freak that’s the star of this show, and her husband is just along for the ride. Roseanne often clashes with her equally fiery husband, Dan, a man with a booming voice and a short fuse. But however loud things get, their marriage serves as this family’s and this sitcom’s foundation, as the two stick together and raise their kids while working their blue-collar jobs.

#7: Cliff & Clair Huxtable “The Cosby Show” (1984-92)

A couple that’s partners in every aspect and clearly still in love, the Huxtables are sincere, caring and smart-as-whips. But while Cliff is a bit of a softy, Clair is one tough cookie, ready for a showdown on any subject – with most arguments ending in her favor. They’re as encouraging to each other as they are to their kids, and their household is one we always like to visit.

#6: Al & Peggy Bundy “Married… with Children” (1987-97)

Also in:

The head of this household is cursed with bad judgment – meaning Al says all those things every husband wishes he could say out loud. Countering him is his fashion-obsessed wife Peggy, who needs a lesson or two on growing up but who usually knows how to get what she wants. Even though they’re often at each other’s throats, this is one marriage that works – in a dysfunctional sorta way.

#5: George & Louise Jefferson “The Jeffersons” (1975-85)

Also in:

10 Times George Cooper Sr Was Nothing Like Sheldon Described on The Big Bang Theory

George is the man with the punch lines, dance moves, enemies and ego, and with him there is never a quiet moment. Weezy is just the lady to deal with his antics: she’s cool and collected, and often gets the upper hand in the Jefferson household thanks to her smarts. Great parents, great partners and great friends, this landmark sitcom couple always dealt with their problems as a team.

#4: Archie & Edith Bunker “All in the Family” (1971-79)

Also in:

Top 10 Best Veronica & Archie Moments

Though he knows how to yell, curse and spit out the racial epithets with the best of ‘em, Archie is as a lovable curmudgeon. Edith is a perfect companion for him, with her kind and naïve nature and great moral center. Their marriage is a traditional one where the man brings home the bacon and the woman does the cooking and cleaning, and that works for them.

#3: Gomez & Morticia Addams “The Addams Family” (1964-66)

They’re creepy and they’re kooky! Known for their unshakeable chemistry, this ghoulish couple is constantly showing their love with PDAs and pet names aplenty. Morticia’s refined, calm and cultured; while Gomez is an emotional wild-man who’s prone to schemes. But as a team, these macabre mates stand at the core of this freaky family, and remind us that even people with supernatural abilities deserve to find their soul mate.

#2: Phil & Claire Dunphy “Modern Family” (2009-)

Also in:

Top 10 Times Phil Dunphy was the Best Character on Modern Family

This family’s full of fun and functional duos: Jay and Gloria have a loving May-December romance, while Cam and Mitch are the odd-couple pairing that always brings the laughs. But Phil and Claire take the spot on our list. Though Claire’s a little too high strung and Phil’s a little too laid-back, they’re both family-oriented and offbeat in their own way – and their chemistry together is always electric. Before we unveil our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions: - James & Florida Evans “Good Times” (1974-79) - Lucy & Ricky Ricardo “I Love Lucy” (1951-57) - Ralph & Alice Kramden “The Honeymooners” (1955-56) - Paul & Jamie Buchman “Mad About You” (1992-99) - Tim & Jill Taylor “Home Improvement” (1991-99) - Red & Kitty Foreman “That ‘70s Show” (1998-2006) - Peter & Lois Griffin “Family Guy” (1999-) - Homer & Marge Simpson “The Simpsons” (1989-)

#1: Marshall & Lily Eriksen “How I Met Your Mother” (2005-14)

Also in:

Top 10 Things You Didn't Notice in Ted & Marshall's Apartment on HIMYM

After a chance encounter in college, these lovebirds remained joined at the hip – mostly – until they finally tied the knot and started living their happily ever after. While their adorable nicknames for each other are almost too cute, this match-made-in-heaven shares friends, beliefs and interests – and never fails to crack us up. Marshall and Lily’s love for each other reminds us – and Ted – that there’s a perfect partner out there for everybody. Do you agree with our list? What’s your favorite married sitcom couple? What's the love-fest with HIMYM? I was a fan but really?! Ahead of the Huxtables?! Folks under 35 need to realize the world existed before the 1999.
