Top 10 Anime Villains

Welcome to WatchMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 10 “One Piece” villains. For this list, we’ll be going over the best of the worst antagonists across the “One Piece” canon. Naturally, there will be spoilers ahead. If there’s a “One Piece” villain we forgot, give us a piece of your mind in the comments!

#10: Admiral Kizaru a.k.a. Borsalino

He may appear absentminded and prone to talking slowly, but he’s still one of the Three Admirals, and that means he’s got power in spades. Gifted with the ability to become and weaponise light, Kizaru may like to take it easy, but he can still move at literal lightspeed. While far less zealous than some of his colleagues, Kizaru is nevertheless fairly ruthless when it comes to dealing with pirates. He’s only come directly into conflict with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates a couple of occasions, but each encounter has come dangerously close to lights out!

#9: Charlotte Linlin, a.k.a. Big Mom

One of the Four Emperors, the Charlotte Matriarch is among the most powerful pirates alive. She rules over multiple islands with her massive brood of children and an equally expansive crew. The titanic mama bear is able to tear people’s souls out of their bodies and imbue life/intelligence into animals and objects, which makes her a big problem when you combine it with her crazy strength. Prone to violent mood swings, her mercurial temperament shifts between impromptu musical numbers to killing her own children. While most “One Piece” villains can be predicted, Big Mom is a huge wild card.

#8: Rob Lucci

A relentless, bloodthirsty assassin for the World Government’s Cipher Pol agency, Rob Lucci is a cold, cruel weapon of a man. He’s among the most formidable fighters Luffy has ever fought, bringing him to the brink like few have. Not only does Lucci’s Devil Fruit let him transform into a leopard hybrid, but he’s also a master of the superhuman martial art style Rokushiki. Although Luffy was narrowly able to defeat him, the fact that he now works directly under the worst of the World Nobles means that he’s sure to cross claws with the Straw Hats again.

#7: Buggy

Not every villain in “One Piece” is completely irredeemable. Sure, Buggy is a jerk, but he’s also hilarious. Initially Luffy’s first true adversary, Buggy isn’t particularly strong, even if his ability to split his body makes him invincible against blades. However, thanks to his bluster, connections, and sheer dumb luck, Buggy has managed to aquire a substantial following of pirates farstronger than him; even becoming one of the Seven Warlords. Greedy, silly, and always flashy, Buggy is a barrel of laughs, whether he’s fighting against Luffy or reluctantly working with him.

#6: Donquixote Doflamingo

They may call him Joker, but Doflamingo is no laughing matter. One of the Seven Warlords, this puppet master is among the series’ most ruthless and outright evil characters. The guy took over the island of Dressrosa, all while manipulating its citizens’ memories, turning some into slaves, selling weapons on the black market, and generally being pretty terrible. He has everyone dancing to his strings…literally. Still, despite how awful he is, Doflamingo is strangely charismatic. He may want to watch the world burn, but he makes every moment utterly riveting.

#5: Sir Crocodile

Top 10 Biggest Flexes in One Piece

The first of the Seven Warlords to face off against Luffy, Crocodile is a landmark villain for the franchise. A cunning bastard who sought to take over the desert country Alabasta, Crocodile is a formidable combatant who can manipulate sand, and turn anyone caught into his grapes into a dried-up husk. Luffy has fought a lot of villains during his journey on the Grand Line, and though few have defeated him, Crocodile has done so twice! While the series may have moved on to stronger foes, Crocodile set the bar high.

#4: Charlotte Katakuri

Indisputably the strongest of Big Mom’s many, many, many children, Charlotte Katakuri is also one of the series’ most complex antagonists. Not only has he perfected his Haki to the point where he can see into the future, but Devil Fruit is very much a stronger version of Luffy’s. Although he is loyal to his terrible family, Katakuri is not without his own sense of honour, willing to wound himself just to even the playing field after their fight was interrupted. Just don’t interrupt him when it’s donut time.

#3: Kaido

Another of the Four Emperors, Kaido is king of beasts, though he stands squarely atop the food chain. Possessing a nigh indestructible body, Kaido’s strength is already monstrous – proven when he one-shot Gear Fourth Luffy. However, the fact that he can become a huge dragon capable of firing explosive blasts that can level mountains makes him next level. With the backing of Wano Country’s corrupt shogun, an army of Devil Fruit users at his back, and an alliance with Big Mom, Kaido has been built up to be the unpassable hurdle.

#2: Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, a.k.a. Akainu

The current head of the Marines, Sakazuki, better known as Akainu, is a real piece of work! A strident believer in the letter of the law, regardless of whether it’s moral or not, Akainu won’t let anything or anyone stand in his way when it comes to “justice.” Capable of generating magma at will, Akainu can rain fire on his foes. Given that he killed Luffy’s brother, Ace, Akainu is sure to be one of the future Pirate King’s final opponents, and certainly one of his most intimidating. Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: Enel This Maniac Lived Up to the Title “God” Arlong The Terror of Nami’s Childhood Made For a Great Early Villain Spandam This Weak, Cowardly Government Agent is Just so Hateable! #1: Marshall D. Teach, a.k.a. Blackbeard

With machinations that led to not only a war, but also the deaths of Whitebeard, Ace, and his own ascendency as one of the Four Emperors, Teach truly is the worst of the worst. A dark reflection of Luffy in many ways, Blackbeard also is a staunch believer in dreams and fate. But he sees them as carte blanche to do whatever he wants. Given that he’s attained unprecedented levels of power, including two Devil Fruits, that lethal mentality has set him on a crash course with the Straw Hat Captain for the title of Pirate King.
