Lil Nas X has created his own cinematic universe. Out of the multitude of fashionable characters in the LNXU, we’ve picked two. Our first choice is the Regency-esque all denim ensemble from “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” Go wild with the DIY and throw together a light and dark blue blended denim suit and a matching fan. The icy blue Marie Antoinette-like wig is guaranteed to be a showstopper, along with dazzling blue eye makeup and statement jewelry pieces. Another choice is his hot pink prison uniform in “Industry Baby.” It’s likely more comfortable, but just as trendy for Halloween 2021.
#9: Cassie Thomas “Promising Young Woman” (2020)
Being a sexy nurse for Halloween is a cliche, but Cassie puts a dark spin on it. In the final scenes of “Promising Young Woman,” Cassie arrives at Al’s bachelor party pretending to be an exotic dancer. She was once in medical school, along with her deceased friend Nina, as well as most of the men at the party, so her nurse costume is intentionally ironic. All you need is a white nurse costume, little nurse hat, and a fabulous rainbow wig, with white stockings and red pumps. Makeup artist Angie Wells said she was inspired by blow up dolls for Cassie’s eyeliner to really make her eyes pop. If you want to be really detailed, find yourself half of a BFF necklace, pink latex gloves, and blue bubblegum.

For years, Lola and Bugs Bunny have been the most popular, especially for couples. 2021’s sequel, “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” starring LeBron James, introduced some shiny new uniforms for the squad. These “Tune Squad” jerseys are available at several stores in all sizes, including Nike’s exclusive line of merch. Most costume sets come with James’ blue arm guard, sweatband, and leggings. Find a pair of bright orange sneakers to complete the look. Grab a basketball and it’s game time.

On “Bridgerton,” it’s all about the empire waist dresses. The Bridgerton family tends to dress in pastels and whites, very subdued in comparison to the colorful Featheringtons. Daphne Bridgerton’s signature color is pale blue. Try this simple day dress, almost a Wendy Darling lookalike. If you prefer a more lavish costume, wear your own Regency Era ball gown, with capped sleeves and floral embroidery appliques, paired with long gloves, sparkling jewels, and a tiara. Either of these costumes will have you feeling like you just stepped out of 19th century England.

Not only did Olivia Rodrigo give us a banger of an album in 2021; she also released a slew of ‘90s inspired music videos with all kinds of awesome looks. The “Brutal” video has several to choose from, but our pick is this one — long braids, red beret, plaid and black tulle skirt, and a red, graphic tank. And of course the choker and Insta filter-like sparkly tears. There’s also the equally punk rock pink and plaid outfit at the end of the video. Another choice is her iconic cheer uniform and black leather gloves combo from “Good 4 u” . Honestly, any choice is a great choice, including the sticker-filled Sour album cover.
#5: Harley Quinn “The Suicide Squad” (2021)
When it comes to Harley Quinn, there are a lot of iconic looks to emulate. There’s the classic jester suit, or any outfit from the video games, or comics. Since 2016’s “Suicide Squad” came out, the sparkly red, white, and blue costume has been everywhere. “Birds of Prey” introduced some fun choices as well, with new hairstyles and rollerskates. But 2021’s “The Suicide Squad” is our pick, whether it’s her red and black leather mission look, or the princess-like red dress. You can go with the polished version, or the more disheveled look with black boots and pigtails. Since director James Gunn and Robbie decided to remove the “rotten” face tat, there’s now one less temporary to put on.

“Ted Lasso” started gracing our screens in summer 2020 and quickly became one of the top series in streaming. Ted is definitely the most comfortable costume on this list. The inspirational coach often wears a classic button up shirt, sweater, and khakis. AFC Richmond might not exist as a real team, but there’s plenty of gear to purchase at the show’s official online shop — jerseys, embroidered hoodies, joggers, and sweaters. Or you can opt for his training outfit with navy track pants and a white polo. Accessorize with a white visor, sunglasses, and Ted’s signature yellow whistle. But the mustache is essential.
#3: Natasha Romanoff “Black Widow” (2021)
Natasha Romanoff finally got her own solo movie in 2021, and it came with two new suits and hairstyles. When Natasha and Yelena go to break Alexei out of prison, they don these white suits to blend in to the snowy landscape. She also rocks a new all-black suit at the end. Pair either suit with a red wig and you’re Natasha. Or there’s Yelena Belova. Her white suit is the same as Natasha’s, but to really make it Yelena, throw on a green and black army vest and a blonde wig. You might need all those pockets.

“WandaVision” was a game changer for the MCU. Wanda’s had some pretty cool outfits in past films, but getting her very own show significantly expanded her wardrobe. The show goes through seven decades of sitcoms, so there are a multiverse of options — for example, the classic 50s homemaker, Mary Tyler Moore inspired 60s pants ensemble, groovy 70s dress, two uber 80s outfits, a relaxed modern mom in sweats. Our favorite is obviously Wanda’s own Halloween costume, a tribute to Scarlet Witch’s comic origins. Easily make it a couple’s or group costume with all of the Vision-Maximoff family’s DIY getups. Agatha’s various decades attire is amazing, too. With a cast of such fantastic characters like Monica, Darcy, and Agent Woo, the possibilities are endless! “Cruella” is teeming with iconic fashion, some outfits more extravagant than others. Emma Stone wore 47 different costumes in the movie, meaning there are so many looks to choose from. It just depends on the level of glam you want to be. Cruella arrives at the Baroness’ black and white party in a mermaid style red dress with long dark red leather gloves, a mask, and her cane. There’s also the infamous dalmatian coat at the fashion show, the motorcycle outfit with “the future” eye makeup, and the last scene with that beautiful cape-like coat.
